Group 1-D - First Matches of the Campaign
SHOCK IN GROUP D!!! - Robo and LFESeaguls face elimination in final match blunder!

Robo admits: "I got my tactics wrong!"
It all started so well. A win for Robocop and Big-Red in the first match left early tournament favourite Mazhar facing elimination.

2 Goals for Robocop against a solitary reply from Mazhar put Robo and Big-Red in a commanding position.

rcoobc & Big-Red 2 - 1 mazhar13 & lookingforericsseagulls

One match later, Robocop, cemented his position at the head of the table, with a dominating performance alongside Mazhar13. 2 goals each from Robo and Mazhar gave Robo a decent cushion, although some sloppy defending gave Big-Red & lookingforeric a chance in the final match.

rcoobc & mazhar13 4 - 2 Big-Red & lookingforericsseagulls

In the final match, Robocop just needed to avoid losing by more than 2 goals to guarantee a place in the next round, whilst both Big-Red and lookingforeric needed a 2 goal win for their respective teams to have any chance of finishing in the top 2.

Straight from kickoff, some poor play from Robocop and Lookingforeric let Mazhar in. Foolishly thinking that they could dominate the match by treating it like the first two, Robo spent much of the first minute charging up the field with an eye for goal, and within that minute the damage was done; all the good work from the first two games had unraveled. Mazhar and Big-Red were 2 goals up, Robo was in 2nd place on individual goals scored only.

After the restart robo's and LFES's play improved, but Mazhar was in no mood to take prisoners. Demoralised, as any change of qualification was slipping past, Eric and Robo's heads went down. A further three goals from Mazhar and one for Big-Red sent Robo and Eric probably crashing out the tournament at this early stage. Not enough can be said about Mazhar, he started the group slowly, but by the end he was showing the quality that put him as early tournament favourite. He will definitely be one to avoid in the next round.

Robo would later admit he got his tactics wrong in game three. A more defensive mindset would have put real pressure on Big-Red, and forced him to make mistakes in the search for the two goals he needed. The late kickoff didn't help, but credit to Robo and LFES as they refused to blame the timings. Let's hope they can improve in the Sapphire Cup.

Congratulations to Big-Red for qualifying for the second round.

Congratulations to Mazhar13 for qualifying as group winner!

I keep expecting to see last night's game-three loss on the news. What is happening?

What a turn around. Win two matches, 7 goals for and eliminated.

Doesn't surprise me to see maz and Bred top two though, both are RL addicts.

Im hardly an addict

I think FIFA should use this format for the World Cup group stage. You could have England combine with Sweden... minimum of 5 players each. Would be amazing.

I've redone a fair chunk of the spreadsheet for Group 1-D, which I will be rolling out to the other groups and then the main spreadsheet shortly. But there will probably be errors in the short term, so if you find any dont worry, just let me know

Group 1-C - Slops completes 15 goal rout
15 Goals for Slops in Group C Rout!

"Meh, he's okay" - Alock1
In hindsight, it should have been obvious what was coming. A 5-2 victory in the first match for Damien and Slops looked good for both players, but as Damien would later admit he didn't know how to switch to ball cam, and Slops had scored all 5 goals, it probably wasn't Damien who was feeling the most confident. Alock got an assist as Welsh_Wonder got on the scoresheet twice, but this was going to be Slops' day.

Welsh_Wonder & Alock1 2 - 5 Damien & Slops

3vsHiJa.png

In the second match, Damien needed to keep the difference in score to below three goals to stay in second place. Instead, what transpired would more commonly take place on the battlefield. 4 more goals for Slops and 1 for Alock pushed Damien into third with both Damien and Welsh_Wonder facing near certain elimination in the last match. 5 goals without reply meant Slops would have to lose by 6 goals in the final match to go out to Damien, whilst Welsh_Wonder also needed to win by more than 6 goals to guarantee second. Surely an impossible task, even alongside Slops? Alock must have been laughing as all he needed to do was keep the scoreline low and he would be through.

As it was also the first clean sheet of the tournament, presumably Alock and Slops shared a Pizza.

Welsh_Wonder & Damien 0 - 5 Alock1 & Slops

Slops-Wonderful

Needing a 6 goal margin to go through, Welsh_Wonder started the game in last place. What happened next will go down in Caf lore. 6 goals for Slops and 4 for Welsh Wonder smashed the goals record set by Mazher and Big-Red earlier in the week, and make Slops Number 1 seed for the next round. Alock must be wondering what happened. A 5 goal cushion to play with, two goals scored for himself and another one for Damien, and yet Alock is now facing eliminating at this stage. It may have been closer than he realised, with the score at 9-3 in the dying seconds, a solitary goal would have put Alock and WW into the same Team Goal Difference, although Wedge was winning on Individual Goals Scored.

Instead, the ball crossed the goal-line at the other end, just as the clock hit 00:00. Slops and Wedge would argue about who scored it, but it mattered not. Slops and Welsh_Wonder are through to the next round

Congratulations to Welsh-Wonder for qualifying for the second round.

Congratulations to Slops for qualifying as group winner!

If anyone wants to spectate in any matches, or wants to broadcast their matches, or anything else, let just post in the thread, etc.

Game 3

Nice shot Damien!

It's 3-2 with 3 minutes to go!!

It's 4-3 now with 2.5 minutes to go! How does this happen??

So, which other groups have finished their set of matches, then?

So, which other groups have finished their set of matches, then?
None so far.

Group B have tried to get games going a couple of times, but not got managed it yet.

Group E tried Thursday & Friday, but Alex99's PC broke.

Group A have arranged theirs for Monday @ 9pm

Any groups that are still to play matches on Wednesday will have extra players added!

Looking forward to the games tomorrow, I'll show a mix of fantastic skills, and horrible timing, to make me look like a clown.

Shamwow wiped the floor with the rest of us, and goal difference had to seperate us.

Shamwow/Blatzo - Grylte/Eriku 6-2
Shamwow/Eriku - Grylte/Blatzo 4-1
Shamwow/Grylte - Eriku/Blatzo 6-0

1. Shamwow 9 points 16-3 GD
2. Grylte 3 points 9-10 GD
3. Blatzo 3 points 7-12 GD
4. Eriku 3 points 6-13 GD

Group 1-A - Shamwow wins group at 9000-1 shot
The Greatest Sporting Story Ever
9000-1 shot Shamwow wins Group 1-A title
Fans of Shamwow were celebrating last night, after Shamwow secured a most unlikely title.

Starting as favourite for elimination, Shamwow secured the Group 1-A title in style with three wins and 12 Individual goals.

In the first match, 5 goals for Shamwow and one for Blatzo put them securely in the driving seat, but a goal each from Eriku and Grylte gave them a chance.

Eriku & Grylte 2 - 6 Shamwow & Blatzo

VXDMh9U.png

In the second match, Shamwow would again be MVP with three goals to add to a solitary strike from Eriku. Grylte would strike back importantly, that goal being the difference between a second and third place for Eriku.

Eriku & Shamwow 4 - 1 Shamwow & Blatzo

mM6KYBh.png

In the final match, teammates from Match 1, Grylte and Eriku would now have to win by 5 goals to gain entry into the next round, whilst Blatzo just needed to keep the score low to secure entry into the final 12. Shamwow sat 8 goals behind Slops for current number 1 seed, but would likely be seeded in the top brackets by any decent sized win.

As it turns out, the combination of Shamwow looking for blood and Grylte needing a big win would prove unstoppable.

4 more goals for Shamwow and 2 for Grylte gave them a 6-0 victory, enough to move Grylte into second place and potentially eliminate Blatzo and Eriku from the competition.

Eriku & Blatzo 0 - 6 Shamwow & Grylte

Congratulations to Grylte for qualifying for the second round.

Congratulations to Shamwow for qualifying as group winner!

The score in last match wasn't 4-1 to them, but 6-0 to us ;)
The total is right, you just wrote the score from second match one more time :p

Firstly, thanks for everyone for making such a huge effort. Especially in Group A, I know everyone has tried to arrange games several times, but it hasn't quite clicked. This is absolutely no-ones fault, and no one is being blamed, but the show must go on!

From tomorrow, if it looks like the matches aren't quite going to happen, the procedure for continuing the matches looks like this:

If there is 1 group left, @ThierryHenry will be put back into that group. This will mean 5 players are in that group. Then it is up to any 4 of you to arrange a match, with the person not including being eliminated (unless it is ThierryHenry, as he will only have had a day or so to try and arrange the matches, he'll instead get a bye as before).

If there are 2 groups left, then the highest placed people who didnt automatically qualify from the other three groups (currently Me and @Alock1 ) who still want to play will be added to the groups, to create 5 team groups as above. Then, as above, it's up to the 5 players to try and get 4 of you in the same place at the same time to get the games played.

If there are still problems with games being arranged, then extra players will keep being added!

The groups would then end up looking something like this: http://i.imgur.com/GcijbyR.png

I'm free tonight if that's useful for anyone - or if anyone wants to practise!

Ah, you don't add them to a party. You have to set up a private lobby and pass the username and password to the PC player.

The PC player would then have to join this private lobby, inputting the username and password that was set by the host.

Okay, I want to try these Private servers

I've made one: User Name : Redcafe (capital R)
Password: Site Owners Username (capital N)

Well done @rcoobc. You've done a great job in managing this tournament so far. :)

I apologise for not getting the replays ready for our group's matches, but I'll see to it on Friday. This week's been quite busy for me as well.

Overall, I'm glad that we've had quite a few people get involved, and the way this tournament's being managed so far means that it doesn't look likely to die off. For that, I say well done Rob.

Will sort out the write up later!

If there is any PC or PS4 player who still wants to play, we could use an extra player!

How did the other groups set up games if they didn't use a private lobby?

Thanks Mazher. Yeah, hopefully it should get easier as we go along as well...

Less people, less games, faster rounds. Don't worry about the replays, I've had absolutely zero time either!

I dunno. I'm just stupid when it comes to PSN stuff to be honest. I find it so difficult to even add people to party chat, and I can never tell who is the party leader!
