Having an opinion equals to having a meltdown.. Jesus Christ.

While the word meltdown is an overstatement, it's a bit pathetic that people are so negative before the PL has even kicked off. Previously fans would be excited for a new season and seeing youth yet there's this. I mean, looking at the line-up...Jones and Smalling are finally playing at CB, you have two young players in Blackett and Lingard, Herrera is making his debut, and Mata is starting in his best position. There are a handful of positivies to be seen!

I'm not expecting instant miracles - a lot has changed and it will take time.

Hindsight aside (we all know what followed) but I have that same sort of 'who knows' feeling as I did prior to 95-96.

Ladies and Gentleman, it begins.

He said 'That's a seriously weak looking lineup.' which im sure everybody agrees?. Meh this thread is going to fail worse than Moyes reign last season.

Yeah because basing low expectations of the whole season on one lineup is a valid opinion. :wenger:

I fail to see where I have written off this season.. all I've said is I'm a bit wary of this lineup and it's not as strong as it should be for a club like us.

I like to see youth given the chance as much as the next Utd fan but I also prefer to see us be as strong as we can be and introduce the kids slowly rather than having to rely on them because we have no other options. Get the targets in we've been linked to this summer do Blackett and Lingard get a game?

Maybe to stop the arguments we could quote the post without the name of the poster

My thoughts exactly, this thread will end badly.

Seriously weak when you have arguably the best GK in the league, one of the best CAMs in Mata, Herrera, one of the best strikers in Rooney, Hernandez, Fletcher, Jones, Smalling. Come on.

I was talking more about the defense than the rest of the side, should have worded it better.

Weak in terms of where it should be due to injuries and lack of signings, we have 2 youth players who would be nowhere near starting if it wasn't for those 2 reasons, of course its weak we have 9 players out.

Might as well just rename the match day thread.

Love a proper meltdown coming from a united fan. The passion and agony both entwined with lack of transfer activity, just perfect. This is going to make an epic thread this season, I am sure we wont be let down.

I don't feel one can even properly contemplate low level panic until the transfer window has slammed shut with nowt having happened.

<snivels quietly>

And we won at Sunderland last year didn't we? And there's always the Cups.

To be fair, I don't think this thread is appropriate. I do believe that it will descend into a slinging match of 'why did you think my post was trash', 'yeah well your post is trash as well' and the note of 'criticise the post not the poster' will get thoroughly overridden in this respect. People will react to being posted in here personally and that will cause slugmatches with other users.

What makes the RAWK and Bluemoon meltdown threads unique is that they are interpreted at face value by our fanbase and the implication that it is 'funny' is kind of a disclaimer as to how we as United fans perceive others. There is no room to discuss it is just a face value entertainment medium. That to me says a lot when there are other teams fans in them defending opinions. It's not about the construction of what they have said it's about what we perceive them to be.

I just wanted to say my piece that I don't think this thread is necessary at all and will create a centralized zone for heated verbal abuse slugfests.

Love the idea behind this thread. What's life if we can't learn to laugh at ourselves. Here's my kneejerk self quote :

Sack Van Gaal. Sell Giggs. Loan Januzaj.

Delph anyone?

I think we should ask about Delph while attempting to tie up the Vlaar deal. Could throw in a few youngsters on loan to sweeten the deal.

Delph is very underated and his energy and mobility are so far away from Fletch and Carrick. Would really bring the best out of Herrera while also allowing him to cover the space in behind our wing backs.

This is genius from the matchday thread.

You see Mourinho and Wenger orchestrating in the tehncial area even when their teams are winning. But when every player looks clueless and devoid of ideas what are VLG and Giggs doing...sat on the bench grinning!

I've officially gone into meltdown. 3-0 down against MK fecking Dons
