Fully agree with you. When I have a box, I check if 6-7 available players I like suit the criteria.

5-10 minutes of wikipedia are required to have a short-list of 2-3 names. 5 minutes to take a decision. Maybe a youtube video in the interim to make sure I like the style of play of a player.

Whatever happens later, the idea is always the same: gather a max of players we like or want to know further. Also, injuries can't be predicted.

Some seem to over-intellectualize the decision-making process. :wenger:

Mind you, more a case of this being the team and formation I can finally get the best out of him upfront than any of you being better off with him.
 
Hansen is a top pick, we have a big shortlist for that spot and actually missed him, not that we need him though...

Aye he was on the shortlist of defenders, thankfully got him on a toughish box, so happy with it. Mind you there are still some good players that can be found in that box.

Lot of people just focused on the Juve serie B team which has left a lot of good players still out there.

I studied Economics and largely worked with Micro/Game Theory applied to Competitive Strategy. That's why I get far more enthusiastic about working through the draft mechanics than the actual matches.

Also a reason I found WW interesting until I realised:

1) You always allow for the rationality assumption not to hold, but not for full blown irrational behaviour

2) BI is indeed critical in business, while WW is the opposite of having good intel.

3) In business both you and your competitors are trying hard and looking for best possible outcomes. The same doesn't hold across all WW or draft players.

So it turned out I was absolute dogshit and kept overthinking things (had some great games, but only given the right setup/role).

You focus your efforts on the pieces you can control and just keep an eye on those you don't, simple.

Your line of thinking either leads to insanity (trying to control what you can't) or inaction (submitting to random outcomes, which is paramount to giving better odds to those who do try to control what they can). Neither ends well.

The AA mantra puts it nicely: “Allow me to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”

Then I'm surprised you are surprised that no one is screwing each other over considering the known difference between one-shot games and repeated games !

Not at all. I also studied game theory and behavioral economics and I know exactly how my strategy works out. In fact, I feel your idea is more trying to control what you can't with your overthinking on how Pat and I should have selected.
And I much prefer the original version of that quote that AA stole from Buddhism.

It's a strong regular luvvy duvvy core these days. A few years ago we would be tearing our eyes out with the constant change in managers and some feisty rivalries.

Obviously, it evolved towards those of us most engaged in it gettung burnt out. Literally, that's how evolution works :lol:*

I do miss seeing some fisticuffs every now and then though.

I have a feeling you naturally place a higher value on events that are of the "loves to watch the world burn" nature than others in the context of games. Then again I probably have a lower sense of schadenfreude than most football fans.

I do, they are games so a better place to see that play out than real life.

As the better WW players said: "Never go full retard". But the point is precisely that it's a game and therefore you can.
