Real Madrid vs Manchester United

Marca is run by idiots to be honest. Highlighting something that happened more than 6 years ago to slate a player, and how players have bones to pick. FFS

DDG
Rafael - Rio - Vidic - Evra
Jones-Cleverley-Carrick-Kagawa
Rooney
RVP

I would prefer either nani or young for Kagawa but SAF seems to rate him highly.

Jones will add cover for rafael and mark Ronaldo.

Would love to see Anderson come on and add some energy.

I'm nervous and excited all at the same time. But underneath I can't shake the feeling that we are going to get a good result tonight.

Ok ,we've arrived.I can't see us holding out over the two legs,We need to go for it,get a healthy away goal lead and frustrate them at OT.

So excited for this. Not overly confident about getting a positive result but still excited to see 2 of the top 3 teams in Europe go at it.

We need to play wide players not only for the extra bodies on the wings to protect our full backs but it's Madrid's weak spot. Ronaldo and Di Maria wont track back while Arbeloa and Marcelo aren't the best defensively. Keep the game tight and when we are on the ball play it out wide that's the way to play Madrid, if we have the balls to go for it Rafael and Valencia will get 2 v 1 against Marcelo all night.

Do you have no ambition? Thats the biggest bus we could put out WHILE playing strikers... Jones should not be fecking RM??

Raf - Rio - Evans - Evra (SAF said Vidic WON'T play 2 games in a week)
Jones
Nani - Carrick - Clev
Rooney
RVP

Jones slightly further to the right to help Rafael out at full back with CR, only maybe is Nani/Kag for me...

I think our starting line up for the big PL games has been very similar so I guess we see such a side

Sorry if this has already been posted. Marca ratings for our side tonight:

Eh? You think A3U's team lacks ambition, but you've selected pretty much the same side... :wenger:

Seriously underrated Rafael there.

Exactly what I thought. They think he's our weak link along with Jones?

Still, some of the ratings were interesting. They like Carrick and Evra. And Rooney ahead of RvP

Hyping the hell out of Rooney it seems to me.

Not that I disagree with the rating but coupled with the article about him being a demon the other day I can help but think its some kind of ploy. Unless they are basing it on the 2011 final where he was the only real stand out performer for us.

De Gea

Rafael - Ferdinand - Vidic - Evra

Carrick
Cleverley - Anderson

Valencia ----------------- Rooney

Van Persie

I'd like to see this side, with Nani to come off the bench in the second half.

Nice to see them underrate Rafael. Got a feeling he will be brilliant tonight he usually excels against top class wingers.

De Gea

Rafael---Fedinand---Vidic---Evra

Valencia---Carrick---Jones---Buttner
Rooney

RVP

Buttner and Evra to double up on Ronnie, yet still provide a forward threat, Carrick dropping deep to dictate the play from in front of the back four, Jones to disrupt their midfield with Rooney dropping in to help. Rooney also linking Midfield to RVP.
Sneaky 0-1 or 1-2

Buttner on the left wing? Goodness...

That was jokes? Surely? Sneaky 1-0 over RM at Bernabeau with Top Boy Buttner LW?

That is a horrible midfield. If our only real threat is Rooney and van Persie, we will be pinned back in our own half. It's about balance not parking the bus.

Buttner can provide cover for Evra who if trying to contain CR on his own will get proper fecked, and has proven he can be a threat going forward both here and in Holland, an Ideal situation? No, but if we leave Evra without help its going to be a bad night.

Rooney and RVP arent our only threat, Valencia and Rafa will get two on one against their full back and turn him inside out.

The games Real have lost seem to have come when teams have defended deep and caught them on the break. They seem to prefer a toe-to-toe opponent, which is what Fergie is suggesting we are for tonight. Could we be playing into their hands, will be forced to defend deep anyway ??? Gonna be a VERY interesting watch, wish I was going out there

I like the fact they're hyping up Rooney and being quite quiet about RvP as that suits both of them as players and personalities. Rooney will take all the hype on his shoulders and occupy them, soaking up the limelight, whilst RvP sneaks about into scoring positions.

After Vida's performance against Everton I can't believe SAF won't go with him. His ability to be in the right place at the right time will be so, so important when the balls is bouncing around the area.

Right ok, so Ronaldo playing on the LW for RM will be Evra's problem how? And assuming he does play on the right (which he rarely does for RM), I would rather go with that fella above who wanted Jones as a winger at least he would provide extra backup, its wrong for too many reasons, Buttner doesn't in regularly get in the first team and you want to play him in this game? I see your thinking I am not trying to be disrespectful, but that would work ONLY on football manager.

Rooney and RVP arent our only threat, Valencia and Rafa will get two on one against their full back and turn him inside out.

Your usually very sensible but Rafa will get one on one against the Real Madrid full back and turn him inside out at Bernabeu? I just want to clarify that before I respond, that is what your saying?

Exactly, which is why I am saying Rafa and Valencia on the right Evra and.....OK....maybe not buttner but someone on the left who can both help out Evra and be a threat on the counter

I have no evidence other than a sneaky suspision that CR will be on the right tonight.....dont ask me why.....but I cannt shake it. Jones would work......Im not overly fussed on who it is as long as A: Evra gets some help and it doesnt mean taking Rooney to far back.

No, Im saying that Rafa AND Valencia on the counter will be two on one against the fullback and turn him inside out.
