Real Madrid Discussion

I don't actually hate them. They are also always fun to watch, at times because they are so good and have many good players, at other times because of how hilariously bad they are in relation to the money spent (oh and I am sure a lot of non United fans think similar about us).

I have preferred them to Barca in the past, but these days I just dislike them as much as I dislike Barca. I mean even Man City are better at certain things than Real Madrid - that just tells you how bad they are at those things!

Their only saving grace is that they still somehow remain more likable than Barcelona.

Page one was the unrelenting hate for Real Madrid page.

Page two is the 'well I hate them less than Barca' page.

Page three will be the 'they're alright actually' page.

Their galatico policy is a modern myth.
They have Ronaldo.. Fair enaugh.. But who else? Under performing Bale? Isco? Does James count?
They only have one player who would get into a world 11 and not many more would get into a second 11.

So fecking stupid this whole thread.

They did so much for Manchester United. Beckham, C. Ronaldo, De Gea all have/had their good reasons to leave United and yes, the first bid was a disgrace, but United supporters should never forget what they've done for this club. It's just natural that they want the best players. If you want to be angry, be angry at FIFA/UEFA for not implenting a wage/transfer cap in order to save european football from being so boring (which happened in the last 5+ years)

Must admit I didn't know much about all that, interesting stuff. Good post.

I think that is what makes people sad, that they were this great club. Don't compare the club then to how it is now. There is no comparison. Maybe they do want the best players, but stop taking out best player.

Great read that. Never knew that's what had hapoened.

However much of my grievances towards Real aren't really directed at the club itself, but at Perez and the way the club is currently run. The blatant tapping up and arrogant attitude. I fully appreciate Real for being one of the biggest and best teams in world football and for what they did after Munich.

To be fair to them, they're not doing anything illegal. That first offer from them was ridiculous though.

I don't hate them, I think they are a classy club with a great tradition, but I don't like what Perez is doing. He is acting like a circus director on speed. So since a few years (decades?) I am a bit happy about every single defeat of them in the champions league, to say the truth.

What I like about them though is that they are not everybody's darling club like Barca. With Unicef and all that stuff.

What Real Madrid are doing to us is no different than what we do to smaller clubs.

That's just how it works. I mean if you have the chance to buy a local lad, that is the 2nd best in his position, or 2 global superstars/world class players (Beckham, Ronaldo) you do everything to do that. Football changed and I simply see nothing wrong in what Real Madrid is doing. Look at how Barcelona tapped up Fabregas and paid something like half the market value, that would be a totally different story, but right now Madrid is just playing their hand very well.

Like I said, I'd love it if there were some kind of cap, so the big clubs couldn't pick apart other sides for fun, but in this reality, Real Madrid has done nothing wrong and given what they've done for us I simply can't see a reason to hate Madrid. If the offer is too low simply keep him for another year, simple as it is.

This is all just sheer small mindedness, they are a top club with a great pull, and loads of money, they are just using that to get what they want for the good of their club.

I hope we do the same whenever we are in a position to do so.

Guys... this was just an innocent thread to occasionally let off some pentup steam about Real and not get sidetracked in other threads.

It was not made to be fully serious. I thought my reference to the torrent thread would have suggested that, but apparently not.

It was created so that there's a thread to talk about controversial things such as their fans kicking Bale's car and just Real in general.

But the way the thread was titled hardly allows for opposing opinions imo, and actually may encourage unneccessary bitterness.

They could teach us a thing or two about "Tapping Up - How to Get Away With It. For Years."

It's a circus but not hate worthy. If i have to criticize them it'll be for:

1- Always seeking change even when it's not necessary, always sacking managers and selling players just to replace them with similar levels of quality, that's where they're falling behind barca imo.

2- The fans are quick to turn on players.

I also think the title isn't that bad. It doesn't say hate, it say disgust. I think we can be pretty disgusted the way they tap players up. I know all clubs do it, but they do it so blatantly and get away with it. They run up debts like money is going out of fashion and just get bailed out time after time. The rules don't apply to them it seems.

You know the scene in Boogie Nights where Mark Wahlberg describes his pornname Dirk Diggler lighting up in purple?
Well Real Madrid are not as good as that scene.

If it wasn't for them always coming in for our best players I wouldn't hate them at all. They're entertaining, which is what this is all about if people remember. They're silly, their fans are fickle, and the whole club seems a bit loony, but they're entertaining.

I absolutely detest both Madrid and Barca, especially since the last few years. Madrid have Ramos and Barca have Suarez and Busquets. I honestly cannot think of more detestable players than them. I was really pleased when Athletico won the league the season before last, as it meant both them and Barca missed out.

Most of their European Cups are tainted with the blood spilled by Franco. Disgusting, gaudy excuse of a football club.

Franco was a hipster. Atleti fan who became Real fan only after the club started winning in Europe.

Don't hate us cause you ain't us.

Seriously, I can't believe people hate this club. Football would not be so much fun on or of the pitch without the Madrid circus.

We'd have been very good at it if we let Sky buy us instead of the Glazers.

They're the Spanish Manchester City, but with more fans, trophies, history, nob 'ead presidents, better stadium and players.
