QPR played right into their hands over the weekend. It was abysmal. Arry obviously thought he was up against a vintage Ferguson side with the way he set up his lot to play. I don't think other managers will be so naive. United have a lot of big names in their ranks now, but when you cut through that it's a bit shocking how dependent they are on Di Maria. They really need him to stay healthy and in form because they're frighteningly devoid of pace without him. Opposition sides shouldn't be scared to come out and play against them. For some reason QPR just ceded the ball and territory to United as if they were in danger of getting torn open on the counter. United's midfield and defense had a walk in the park, but I wouldn't trust either unit against a side that actually looks to challenge them and I don't fear the likes of Rooney, Van Persie, Falcao, and Mata as a counter-attacking outfit. Compare that to the classic Ferguson units who would absolutely destroy sides when left in 3v3 or 4v4 situations. It was almost a guaranteed goal, so the lesser sides had to cede them possession to some extent. You don't need to do that with this side. As great as Di Maria is (and he's phenomenal) I don't think he's good enough to consistently overcome their flaws. I think they're clearly the 5th or 6th best side in the country and unless they find time machines for Rooney and Van Persie I can't see them surpassing last season's top 4 (I thought they had a slight chance before they gave Welbeck to Arsenal).
Love a myopic post from RAWK, Liverpools season hits the skids because of injury to Sturridge yet we are totally dependent on Di Maria (whose played 3halves of football in a United shirt and had one top drawer game whilst we have Falcao still to come in and RVP to find any form.
Also Rooney was recorded as united's fast runner on Sunday and was devastating with Ronaldo and tevez in probably one of the best counter attacking teams ever.
As Liverpool are finding out this year blistering pace is not everything, you need creativity and a ball carrier, and lots of movement. Suarez and sterling provided creativity last year, with sturridge adding movement, now sterling is double marked and ballotelli a statue. We have mata, Herrara Rooney, Falcao on the move and di Maria able to carry, plus abundant creativity, obviously we need to click but we aren't any more dependent on our best players than any other big team. Imagine saying Chelsea are dependent on costa, sure they will miss his 7 goals in 4 games, but can still play football.
Anyway, the main thing I want to point out was this nugget "I think they're clearly the 5th or 6th best side in the country and unless they find time machines for Rooney and Van Persie I can't see them surpassing last season's top 4 (I thought they had a slight chance before they gave Welbeck to Arsenal)." So not only is it clear that we are the 5th/6th best side, behind Everton/spurs, but it's losing welbeck and gaining Falcao that keeping us out of the top 4!! Wish this chump had piped up before September 1st and told LVG he didn't have a clue, welbeck is clearly superior to Falcao.
It's amazing how Danny is suddenly the best striker in the world ever, he was behind RVP and Rooney for 9 , Rooney and mata for 10 and now behind di Maria for wide left, even if Falcao had not come
