RAWK Goes into Meltdown 2014/2015 - The "We go again" Edition

Good thing they rested their best players for the Madrid away game. Can you imagine how much worse they'd be if they had to play in that game?

Amazing. We're 6 points worse off than the average for a team that finished 1st or 2nd for 4 of the last 5 seasons. Liverpool are 5 points worse off than the average for a team that finished between 6th-8th for 4 of the last 5 seasons and apparently we're worse off? Despite having more points?

All that article is saying is that United are doing badly by our own high standards whilst Liverpool are doing badly even by their mediocre standards.

Forums Update: The PFJ RAWK is standing firmly behind Brendan, while The Liverpool Way is blaming his 'showbiz teeth'. More news later...

So... the pauper feasting on dung is sneering at the Prince who's been demoted to just another nobleman. I can live with that.

After inheriting the team left by Martinez.
Martinez left Swansea at the end of the 08/09 season. Paulo Sousa came in after Martinez for a season, and they finished 7th/8th from memory, playing possession for the sake of it football. Rodgers did a fine job there though, just the Liverpool job came too early for him.

Yup it is pretty much this, which means feck all given the season we had last year and the one they had. That's why I don't understand the purpose behind these kind of stats, the alternate tables and stuff. Those who have watched football should very well know that no two seasons are similar. Lots of factors come into play and all that matters is how teams are performing in that particular season and where they finish in the end.

Are journalists really that stupid? Or just the ones at the Liverpool Echo? Mind boggling - truly mind boggling..........

That is just called hope. They hoped that "easy" fixtures are guaranteed 3 points for them. And we will lose to the top 4, especially away. But in the end, there is no difference points wise in losing against Leicester but winning arsenal and winning Leicester but losing against arsenal. Heck, the former (which we've done) sounds a bit better since we guaranteed our rivals dropped points.

I wonder if they will update the table again. I mean it's morale sapping when even your version of reality tells you that you are shite?
Yeah, somehow the Storeytime thread never got bumped in the second half on the season on here. Always had arsenal ahead during the first half of the season, though.

That's approaching Aspas levels of fail

Have watched this about 10 times and still can't work out what the feck he's trying to do

Same here only thing I can think of is he was aiming for the player 20 yards from where the ball went. Either that or forgot what team he was playing for.

Liverpool are top of the LOVE league. This league is based on a points system where teams get ten points for each time the letters in the word LOVE appear in their name.
Liverpool 60pts
United only have 30 points

I suspect they are top of every fecking make believe league other than the actual one that counts -- more than two decades to create and develop them.

Such a stupid article. Its like they had some Maths intern and got him/her to throw in some data to create something that is almost as useless as a 90 year old's penis.

The stats themselves are fine, as usual you can read into raw data what you want, for the idiot 'Omg united and Arsenal are doing worse' is the obvious result of this data and since it's neatly fits their narrative it's left at that.

If you actually look at the data they've presented, it is correct, but it kinda only makes sense once you take into account what par for that team over the last five years has been, so for United that's 2.6 in the league or 81.4 points, for Arsenal that's 3.6 and 73 points and Liverpool 6th or 63.6 points, so what it's really says is if current form shifts to be on par with 'regular form' (for everyone in the whole league) then United will be 3rd, Arsenal 5th and Liverpool around 7th, based on averages.

It's still entirely a horseshit point though, mathematically every team in the league can still get relegated regardless of what the last 100 seasons say stat wise.

A Basel win would be better. Liverpool could still qualify even if they lose tonight.
Hopefully, Madrid rest lots of players because they're already through.

We could be gifted a wonderful response when the teamsheets comes out. If Brenton decides to rest his superstars again.

Bruce Grobbelaar also had a pop at current Liverpool number one Simon Mignolet.

"I've likened Mignolet to worse than Dracula because at least Dracula comes out of his coffin now and then," he says. "He seems to stay on his line and that's it. That whole area, not just the six-yard area, is the goalkeeper's."

He's not wrong.

Is that a 4-5-1?

A diamond.

So is Gerrard in the holding or wide role in that diamond? Are him and Lucas not competing for that same holding spot?

This is RAWK meltdown thread, not Liverpool formation/tactics/players discussion thread!
