RAWK Goes into Meltdown 2014/2015 - The "We go again" Edition

Southampton fan on RAWK:

Yes, but the reason we only finished 8th last season was due to a number of factors:

1. Our duplicitous little git of a manager Poxychino had been playing footsie with Levy since Cortese left in January (despite stating publicly he had no interest in joining the Spuds) so obviously his mind was not at St Marys.
2. Our players couldn't sustain Poxy's high pressing and exhausting game (endless ruddy possession with few goal chances), under RonKo we still play intensively but for shorter periods.
3. We have more depth in our squad this year - particularly in defence & midfield. Even if Royosaurus butchers Clyney & Co with his prehistoric training sessions in December, we'll have J-Rod & Prowsey returning, so we should still be able to sustain a top 6 place.
4. Unlike Lie-llana, our Captain has not been nursing a hard on every time he plays at Anfield. Also, the fate of the defectors (apart from Chambers), has proved a salutary lesson in what happens when you believe your own hype.

 at the names.

You can keep Lov-rat & Lie-llana thanks, but we'll take Sir Rickie back on loan. He'll be cover for Pelle, but we'll want compo for restoring him back to fitness. Shocking state he's in.

Valuable 3 points in God awful weather conditions -ball skidding all over the pitch.

Fingers crossed our boys come back in one piece from England duty. From high-tech training at Staplewood to 'training' at Roy's Jurassic Park. Sigh ......

On Lovren:

I thought DL played well for us during the early part of last season, but based on his terrible displays for LFC, it has become increasingly clear that our defensive midfielders made him look good. Fonte effectively carried him & you're leaking more goals than us because Victor & Morgan aren't there to protect him. Its funny, we're as happy about the price BR paid for him as the Lyon fans were with the £8+ million Saints paid for him- they also thought he was over rated. I see a pattern developing...

Lucas was someone to shield the back four. That is exactly what he did. Fletcher and Lucas were not similar at all. Fletcher did not have a 'much wider skillset'. He had a different one.

 I really don't need to argue this one, anyone who has watched the two knows there are huge similarities in their games as ball winning midfielders. Just Fletch had a lot more than just that in his arsenal.

Is that Saint's fan trying to have a dig at Shaw there?

Pretty sure it's about all of them (except Chambers) and not Shaw specifically.
If anything, it's probably more towards Lovren and Lallana.

I'd hope it's more aimed at the Liverpool 'defectors', Shaw hasn't done much wrong.

Neither has Lallana and they still love Lambert.
Id still say Shaw has been better than Lallana, and whilst they love Lambert, he hasn't been successful so far at Liverpool.
The original post I quoted was less to do with their feelings towards their ex players anyway, more to do with their 'fates' at their new clubs, which I would take to assume as how well they've been playing? Or more to do with the fact that Saints are higher in the table than any player who left them?
The latter option may make more sense actually, considering on how boisterous those fans have been recently.

More importantly, Shaw looks like he's nailed on for a first team position for the foreseeable future, while Lallana sat on the bench for 90 minutes in Liverpool's last two league games despite them needing a late goal in both games & their attack misfiring. Still time to turn it round of course but it looks like Rodgers prefers Coutinho at the moment. Not what Lallana was hoping for when he moved I suspect.

No, that's wrong. However:

Lucas became world class during the injury. The longer he was injured, the better he started to become in the eyes of RAWK and most of Liverpool supporters. After few months of him missing, he became world class. Then, he became the best defensive midfielder in the league and later during his spell out he became the best defensive midfielder in the world. If only the injury had lasted a bit longer, he would have became the best defensive midfielder of all time and arguably the best player ever.

Unfortunately for him, the injury ended and with that ended his rating. He became as useless as he was before the injury.
 yeah I remember that. Becoming WC by not even playing.

£25M bench warmer? Why spend so much money on someone who you are not going to start in every game? He's not worth that much to start with, when you consider how little we gave Welbeck away for, but surely he was brought to strengthen rather than to add depth?

To be fair as Revan clearly demonstrated, liverpool players become better players by not playing, therefore Rodgers has cannily kept Lallana improving on the bench so as not to deteriorate such an expensive asset.!!:lol:

Although it is funny in this case, it is very common to hype players who are injured. I remember when we had Hargreaves, his stock just kept on rising for United & England. It helped the fact that he was very good when he played. All i am saying is that it is common for a player to be hyped up to huge levels when he is injured.

Yeah, it's normally desperation of wanting the said player to return. Normally when the players club is shit or in a bad run.

Every players that Liverpool sign are going to be world class, or "near world class", as BarneyLFC puts it.

The only arguably world class player they've had in the last decade would be Suarez, and the pre-2010/2011 Fernando Torres.

Stevie Me when played in an advance position at his peak would be a good shout, but he always lack that intelligence to be world class.

They really are pinning everything on Sturridge now:

The Lovren bit is ridiculous. Apparently Lovren is only poor because he has to actually defend:lol:

I love the way he says that the signings make sense if Sturridge is playing and then says Lambert was bought as an alternative. So what he's saying is that the alternative can only play well when he's not picked?

And that, my friends, is why we have this thread.

Hargreaves was an unbelievable star till he played 4 minutes against Wolves.

Funny enough I was about to compare Lucas and Hargreaves. Both were very good in their prime but the longer they were injured, The bigger their reputation seemed to get. Our fans at one point (probably me included for a time) were actually begging on the return of Hargreaves, like he was some sort of lovechild consisting of Claude Makélélé and Roy Keane's talent. Unfortunately as we seen, we got an injured pile of rubbish who's idea of being fit was posting YouTube videos doing yoga while dressed as Mr.Motivator.

I see a Raheem Sterling Fan page with over 320,000 have posted a link from liverpool-redarmy.com about 5 suitable candidates to replace Rodgers!

After all the abuse we got for only giving Moyes one season, their fans are already looking at replacments 11 games into the season!

Not in the slightest.

Gerrard hasn't been world class? He's probably one of the two greatest players ever to play for our club. His form from 2003-2009 would have seen any side in the world bite your hand off for him. Unless you only consider Messi and Ronaldo world class (which you clearly don't) then Gerrard certainly was and was one of the best two or three players in Europe.
