Think he will soon. But he did have discreet talks with Man City last season. Apparently Sheikh Mansoor sounded him out during the season and he had a meeting with them. They were very impressed - five out of the seven people in their committee (71.4% of the population) wanted him - and then all he had to do was have a medical. Anyway, it seems that Rodgers decided against it in the end and is staying.
Although Ayre quizzed him on it after the lap of honour on Sunday.
Ayre: So they offered you the job?
Rodgers: Yeah
Ayre: It's just that I was speaking to Paula, Alan's assistant (I don't know who they are, some people at Man City I think) and she thinks you didn't take the job not because you didn't want it, but because you failed the medical because of high blood pressure.
Rodgers: Ask yourself why I got high blood pressure on the day of the medical.
Ayre: Are you saying you cheated science and faked high blood pressure so you could remain in the job?
Rodgers: You've got to ask yourself that.
Ayre: Did you?
Rodgers: What's worse - cheating medical science or cheating friends? The board of directors said, "Brendan, you're the best man for the job. We won't take no for an answer. Oh, you failed the medical. Oh, all right, stay with your" For all your mole knows, they may or may not have said that to me.
Rodgers: So you faked high blood pressure in order to fail a medical test?
Anyway, it's all cleared up now, Rodgers is staying although he may not get on with whoever FSG are bringing in to manage him.
