RAWK Goes Into Meltdown | 2013/14

It's a good description, but the writer seems to think that Suarez is a success. He isn't. He's won pretty much feck all in his career.

He has the win-at-all-costs mentality in the sense that he doesn't see a difference between winning fairly and unfairly.

Don't understand at all how that description is in any way accurate. Taking a bite out of someones shoulder contributes nothing towards 'winning' a football match nor is it a feature of a winning mentality, it is animal-like behaviour and most likely highlights a mental condition of his. The only thing he does which could contribute to winning is his diving because it could get the other guy sent off. Stupid things like biting and lashing out at someone is more likely to get him sent off and be detrimental towards the team

You could say the biting and such is to get a reaction from the defender, and that way get them sent off.

The provocation needs to be subtle. Sinking your teeth into someone's shoulder is anything but.

That said, he IS a f*cking moron...

Biting someone in the manner he did is not to get 'a reaction'. Getting a reaction would be something less ridiculous, like diving or nudges here and there during set pieces. He clearly has some sort of a mental issue and needs help, the mad fecker has done it three times now, its as if he can't help it

Spot on.

This is exactly it. I think it's why all the claims he needs psychological help are misguided and even dangerous. I don't think he loses it or gets the red mist at all; it's all incredibly premeditated, and he's willing to hurt or destroy any player's career who gets in his way. The most cowardly top (as in world class) player I've ever seen.

And for this reason, I see the Evra incident in the same light. Basically, he's doing something shocking or completely left field, knowing people react instinctively in those situations and maybe lash out, thus awarding him a penalty and the other player a possible red card. This is what he hoped when he wound up Pat. He used an issue he knew would be sensitive and went for it. Also, he pinched him, remember? It's not actually crazy, but to the player on the receiving end it comes out of nowhere and makes them react instantaneously. The only insane part is his apparent belief that the multiple camera angles will somehow miss it. And even then, that only matters afterward, before which he hopes he gains an advantage. It's a gamble he consciously and willingly takes.

Anyway, this isn't a Suarez thread, so enough of that.

Got to disagree. I think he does lose it. He's no idea whether the officials have seen him or not and, as as happened, he puts his team at risk of going out because he's not there to score the goals.

He's a nutter and the fact he comes out with shite like this makes it even worse....

"I lost my balance, making my body unstable and falling on top of my opponent. At that moment I hit my face against the player leaving a small bruise on my cheek and a strong pain in my teeth. In no way it happened how you have described, as a bite or intent to bite."

I'd add another month to his ban for that.

Suarez is a filthy little sneak. With the antics he gets up to, he's lucky he wasn't around in the Keane era because Keane would have broken his leg in a big game at some point, which is not to say that's the right response, but you just know it would happen.

Look at all the ankle stamps and dirty tackles he does, and feigns injury as he's falling.

No red mist here, cold, calculated shitbag actions. I'd say it's actually worse because he knows exactly what he's doing.

After watching that video clip it's amazing he hasn't been banned for a serious amount of time before. He's a ticking time bomb that will eventually end someones career with one of those disgusting, mad bastard challenges. And I'm not taking 'he just has a win at all costs mentality', no, the guy is an absolute psychopath who has no understanding of the value of another persons life except his own.

Yeah, I suppose none of us can be sure, but I really do feel this "he needs counseling" approach is playing into his hands, and those of his apologists. And I come from a counseling field, so it's not a kneejerk anti-psychology thing for me. Watch those videos where he calculatedly rakes his studs down someone's Achilles. I swear he appears calm and aware. To me, it's the difference between criminal psychosis (not responsible for actions) and psychopathy (responsible and premeditated).

But we could go around in circles with all this and it ends up only being our subjective impressions. The only thing we can all agree on is that he's a cnut and needs to stop doing this shite.

That's some leap Dr Crossy.

Oh, wrote my post before I saw yours and we both bring up psychopathy. Weird.

Honestly, I think he needs some serious counselling. I'm not saying he's going to go out and start killing people but look at this:

Here are the official definitions of what makes someone a psychopath.
  • A disregard for laws and social mores (Biting, cheating, diving while being well aware that it is against the rules)
  • A disregard for the rights of others (Biting, kicking and gouging people with the aim of hurting them)
  • A failure to feel remorse or guilt (Has he even apologised for biting Chellini yet? It's everyone else's fault, not his, he can't see what he did wrong)
  • A tendency to display violent behaviour (Constantly being violent towards opposition players, see video clip for detailed evidence)
So there you go, he's a psychopath who will one day seriously hurt someone. Mark my words.

It's the only explanation I can come up with, no one who is sane can understand his actions.

Further reading on psychopath behaviour:

Psychopaths, are unable to form emotional attachments or feel real empathy with others, although they often have disarming or even charming personalities. Psychopaths are very manipulative and can easily gain people’s trust. They learn to mimic emotions, despite their inability to actually feel them, and will appear normal to unsuspecting people. Psychopaths are often well educated and hold steady jobs. Some are so good at manipulation and mimicry that they have families and other long-term relationships without those around them ever suspecting their true nature. When committing crimes, psychopaths carefully plan out every detail in advance and often have contingency plans in place. Psychopathic criminals are cool, calm, and meticulous.

I think the claims he's a psychopath are a bit silly; it's far more likely he's extremely embarrassed about what he did and isn't displaying remorse because he's desperately trying to cling to his own version of events to prevent the obvious humiliation the incident brings. I think it's more a care for his wife and children that he's holding on to a delusion.

The fact is, he's a nasty piece of work on the football field and lets his raw emotion overspill in a game and he does stupid, stupid things that he is just too cowardly to apologise to the world for and would rather save face. As I said, these are the actions of a man who knows he's in the wrong and simply can't control himself on the pitch. Don't tell me he's biting players to wind them up. He's biting them because it's a very visceral outworking of the frustration and anger bubbling away during the game. He's like a volcano. He's brilliant when things are going his way, but he literally explodes when they aren't.

As far as psychopathy is concerned, I find much of the writing about it very unsatisfactory. there are so many assumptions involved and there's no real way of determining whether somebody has the capacity for empathy.

From what i understand its kind of been phased out and they use another term for it now.
Its somewhat commonly used tbh, obviously milder forms thans the hollywood slasher movie psychopath

I know empathy is kind of intangible and pretty difficult to define let alone measure
but its something i believe exists despite that
and luis suarez is probably lacking in it.

Send this to Indykaila. He's got an A* in psychology.

This aspect of his behavior has always stood out for me. 99% of the time he feigns injury sometimes during his attack on the opposing player. I agree there is a cold calculated decision there. At least some of the time.

They all wanted the Hillsborough anniversary Prem title. It would sell papers easily. Once Gerrard slipped and it had gone, they turned on the scousers again. The refs were lenient with them as well.

Isn't it a shame that Suarez is played in a generation were the likes of Keane, Ince, Gentile and Vinnie Jones do not exist anymore? I wonder what would have happened if Suarez bit Roy Keane for example.

Suarez deserved to be banned from the world cup. thats it. a 4 months ban would be excessive. IF this is was his first time. But its not. Hes made a habit to cheat (diving for pens, handball against ghana) and bite people. the man needs to be taught a lesson (therefore the ban is just) and probably needs some kind of professional help as well.

he's absolutely detestable, if ever a player was made for a club, it's him. I can't deny he's a superb footballer but his latest incident just shows it was only a matter of time before he transgressed again and it seemed to come out of nowhere. Of course there was the inevitable falling prostrate to the ground but the clutching of those rogue teeth of his was hysterical. It's as though he has no control of them :-)

People are really missing the point of this thread. If you want to discuss Suarez go the football or and World Cup forum. This thread is for over the top reactions by the Red Scouse massive to anything affecting them and football in general.

I think Duncan Ferguson would of been the best option, Suarez would of shit himself.

Have, have, have, have.

Sorry I'm hungover and easily irritated

EDIT: Beaten to it.
You're right though, some of the players from days gone by would have nailed him if he tried to bite them

Honestly, I'm so happy this thread is back to full strength. This season was shit. Moyes ruined the RAWK thread, too.

Would have loved to see Cantona vs Suarez. A beautiful roundhouse kick to knock his massive teeth out, I can just see it in slow-mo now.

Trying to correct grammar on a football forum is like trying to stop a tidal wave with a single tissue

Sweet jesus. Did he actually say that? He's the mentality of a 3 year old. There are replays that show you bit a player. Just admit it and see someone to help you manage your anger....
