Actually watching the teams play and using my judgement. Would you like to take a £20 bet that Liverpool finish higher?

Higher than West Brom? No. While I don't disagree with you, I just don't think Liverpool's slump is going to get better before it gets worse. Whereas I think WBA will keep plodding along in the manner they have been.

I said they were a better side, not collection of individuals. As it stands, they are. That said, it would be fair to say WBA have overachieved, while Liverpool should have upside in them, particularly with a transfer window coming.

In any case, the point was they need to overcome an 8 point gap on Spurs, Arsenal, Everton and WBA to get 4th. Their best hope is catching WBA, maybe one of the others, but all four? I doubt it very much.

They need those four to drop points, which they will, while going on a run themselves, which they look completely incapable of doing.

If we, or any other team, were playing a Cup game tomorrow and had a choice to play against Liverpool or WBA I reckon every team in the country would prefer to face WBA. That's why I'd say they're a better team - they've overachieved so far while Liverpool have done the opposite. It probably won't continue.

Yeah, 4th place would be very surprising I agree with you on that, I'd say they're a better side than Everton and WBA of the sides you've listed and I'd expect them to finish above WBA but the rest are probably too far ahead. Spurs and Arsenal are obviously a fair way ahead of Liverpool.

I agree that we would never choose Liverpool over WBA in a cup game because we know Liverpool play every game against us as a cup final, and it would be a tougher game than against West Brom.

However, I'm not sure that would apply to most teams. Having watched both teams a few times this season, I've been much more impressed by WBA (though I thought they were very disappointing against Arsenal, they just never got going in that game) than by Liverpool. They work much better as a unit and seem to know where they're going. The team is pretty settled and looks less like a work in progress than Liverpool does. I'm not sure many managers would choose a game against WBA rather than a tie against the scouse.

I'm also sure most managers would rather pit their wits against Brendan Rodgers over Steve Clarke any day of the week, unless they wanted more of a challenge.

Think Liverpool would be a lot better off with Clarke this season.

They're 8 points behind, I never realised. You'll need plenty of luck with that, Kie, as Liverpool have a tougher set of fixtures to come.

Hodgson - P31 W13 D9 L9 F41 A33 GD+8 - Net Transfer Spend - Recouped £2.2mill

Rodgers - P31 W13 D9 L9 F48 A40 GD+8 - Net Transfer Spend - Spent £16.4mill

We're half way through the season. Surely they have exactly the same fixtures to come...

Saw this on twitter, never realised that they were in such a bad position in comparison to last season:

"Liverpool now nine points worse off(25pts) than after 19 games last season(34pts).There 17pts worse off than at same stage in 08/09"

City, Arsenal, United away - not easy.

And they've already played Stoke twice (like we vs. Newcastle), so in Premier League you don't have exactly the same fixtures to come after 19 games.

Edit: Liverpool, I meant.

Not really, we're halfway through the season and we've played Aston Villa twice. Everton still have to travel to Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, Liverpool, Newcastle, Man Utd and Sunderland, all realistically harder games than the equivalent home game they've already played.

Dalglish - P56 W19 D13 L24 F70 A61 GD+9

Let's do maths and divide it by 1.8 to make it P31:

W10.5 D7.2 L13.3 F39 A34 GD+5

Edit: I see Rodgers' record is not only in the league, which is what I did with Dalglish's one...

WBA have Us, Chelsea and City away. Not to mention the likes of West Ham and Stoke too (both great at home).

Like I said, at this stage it's very much swings and round-a-bouts.

Provided Liverpool spend a bit of money in Jan I think they'll finish higher than WBA.

Liverpool are the team
We're the best you've ever seen,
You can stick United and the rest
Liverpool are still the best,
Na na, na na na na, hey hey, we're the champions.

..

I Love there new stuff, but sometimes it's good to hear the classics.

No sooner had Lucas Leiva finished parading his Golden Samba around Anfield than the expectation heaped upon his young shoulders had catapulted him in to Liverpool's next saviour. As he trudged around the famous stadium clasping an award that his achievements merited, it was a personal victory on many levels.

This threads needs more RAWK.

Is there a more complete CB partnership in Europe? They are not only good defenders, they both are excellent on the ball, have pace and can score the occasional goal. I wouldn't swap em for any other pairing. Not even Subotic and Hummels.

Agger Skrtel partenership is currently one of the best CB partnership in the world and easily the best CB partnership in premier league based on form... I cant think of anyother partnerships better than this one in premier league...

incompetent, shit house, tattooed bollock shit house merchants. We concede goals when we're not even under pressure. They both need babysitting.

Neither are fit to lace Carra's boots.

a fecking embarrassment.

On Joe "The Maestro" Allen:

Moussa Dembele cost the same amount of money, can play in the same position or further up, has more creativity, is better physically and is a great dribbler- something we lack.

Anotehr brilliant Liverpool Football Club transfer move.

We all know why Dembele wasn't an option for Liverpool, though. Rodgers only knows how to sign players he's worked with before.

Shite, shite manager. I'm delighted the classless fecker is being found out.

The "where is it all going wrong" thread has a great OP that sums up liverpool opinions to their players:

Pepe - hailed as the best in world a few years ago

Johnson - lauded as the best rightback in the league and one of best in the world.

Skrtel - after one good season he is now consîdered one if the best centre backs in the league.

Agger - hailed as world class when fit. He is fit most of the time now. Skrtel and Agger are claimed to be the best centre back partnership in the league.

Lucas - best holding midfielder in the league and one of the best in Europe.

Gerrard - The greatest Liverpool player ever.

Allen - could play for Barcelona, the next Xavi.

Sterling - the hottest prospect in years

Suarez - best player in the league, one of the best players in the world

The majority of Liverpool fans genuinely believe all of the above, so where is it going wrong?

Just reading their Borini thread.

If you want players who consistantly score, you have to pay big money for them. See RVP, Rooney, Nistelrooy, Aguero, Tevez, Torres, Drogba, Berbatov.

Javier Hernandez £7 million, consistent scorer of goals and scorer of important goals

Would be the perfect player for them really. So glad we have him.

 true. Must be why he praises god before every game.

Reckon Sturridge might be a good signing for them actually, if Suarez learns the pass the ball. Good finisher, shame about everything else really. Lacks the unselfishness and off the ball movement of our Hernandez though, so isn't top 4 class IMO

I'm a little concerned that Suarez is only as selfish as he is because he is surrounded by incompetent buffoons who couldn't score in a $5 brothel. Put someone who, for all his faults, can finish off chances and he might pass it more.

Anyways..

feck me, Suarez and Sturridge will want a ball each if they are ever picked in the same starting XI.

It might be a good partnership. Suarez might trust Sturridge with the ball as opposed to not trusting the rest of the shit that is currently there. He might learn to pass to Sturridge.

Sturridge may decide that he doesn't actually need to do it all himself to probe his worth in the team and therefore might pass to Suarez to do something!

They'll both basically just pass between each other

I actually think they are right about the Carragher thing. They are now realising just how good he was in his prime, and he really was. He knew defending inside out and was extremely consistent. The likes of Skrtel and Agger are just too inconsistent, they both seem to have regular individual brain farts, although I still believe they are a pretty good PL defensive pairing. I think Skrtel is the weak link of the pair, he just seems such a brainless, clumsy defender and not one suited to what Rodgers is asking him to do at all.

feck there is a Liverpool squad thread - go there and talk about Liverpool stop fecking using this thread to chat general shit about their team.

Not RAWK but said:
This small time manager has achieved the same amount of points in his first season for 16 games that Rafa did... difference being that Rafa had a Champions League winning squad.

November 2012 - sports psychologist Steve Peters joins the Liverpool staff:

This is an extremely astute move

In my opinion a fantastic idea and hiring

This is the most exciting news I've heard for a long time

A refreshingly modern take on the dynamic of the backroom staff at the club

December 2012 - Stoke 3 Liverpool - 1:

Guess I spoke too soon - bunch of shit houses
