The Apl has got off to a great start with informative graphs being presented.

Why do they insist with these shitey graphs?

This shows sod all and is nigh on impossible to even comprehend, let alone interpret. Christ sake.

How can't you see? It's all so clear now! PoP was highly evolved alien, writing coded messages of love, peace and unity, and after acomplishing his mission, he ascended from this planet of the apes, to return when we are able to comprehend his lofty goal.

Is this PoP?

Because actual football winnings, trophies and table positions hasn't been good towards Liverpool football club past 3 decades. So they have to find ways to make them seem on par with the rest of us. Compensations, really.

So...this table/graph/paint diagram would actually make some sort of sense if not for the fact that every team ends up in the same place at 0 after 38 games.. Is it predicting the league to end in a 6-way tie for first place and it's all decided on goal difference? Naming it "target points" isn't exactly making it any less confusing either... If you have -2 points, does that mean you are 2 points behind the PL leader or 2 points behind your expected target point total?.. If it's the latter, what is that expected target point total for each team and who has decided what that is? and why am I even wasting time on this?

I've been looking at it for 5min now and I feel considerably more stupid now than when I started.... This isn't the work of some undercover caf member is it? :D

It seems there's a latent possibility of PoP in every Scouser who managed to reach high school education, which reciprocaly amplified the force of delusion, and eventually, after joining RAWK, gained ultra velocity, so the new incarnation of PoP can raise its head. It's like serial murderers in movies and TV shows - sooner or later copycats emerge.

That post is too intellectual for us Mainsters; we'll need graphs, charts and finger puppets.

I literally read up to 'reciprocally' and gave up. It's way too late for me to get that.

Best I can figure out for a use is that it kind of gives you a visual sense of when teams will face their most difficult expected matches. But yes, point stands - it's stupid

It's where a team should be in relation to their alternate league table. So say we're 2 points behind the leaders when that table says we should be 6 behind they should see that as us being favourites due to easier upcoming games.

Of course that would all go out the window were that ever to be the case though

I have absolutely no idea why that alternative league table gets so much stick. We used to have the same thread over here FFS. Basically it's to see when a team has played their easiest fixtures.

The reason the alternate PL is so popular over there is that for about 10-15 years now Liverpool have been game raisers against big sides who choke against minnows. So their APLT standing is always high mid season, which always fuels their delusion when they're languishing in 8th or 5th or whatever that "actually, we're on a huge surplus of expected points la, we're gonna win the league/get top 4".

It's basically just another tool of false hope.

The massively complicated tactical discussions, graphs etc are all the more amazing considering the following quote:
"Football is a simple game, made complicated by idiots"
I wonder if RAWK can remember who said that.......

Plus didn't they design the APLT in a way that they would win it all the time, only to find that their team is so shit they couldn't even win that.

Could it be the same person when apparently asked if they wanted the best job in the land they replied has Busby left united?

That's come out so well for size of image when you've quoted it, just need to stitch those 4 together & we're away.

APLT is just material being used for comic effect isn't it - value in reality is a moot point, do you think there is fixture imbalance (yes) or do you believe that 3pts is 3pts, Clive (also yes). But does seem like the silly dropped points never really get regained if you're trying for a league winning total (which they've done pretty well to come up with in the (cough) first place, innit?

That polygraph though, :D. Even 'The Prof' (seems like a decent bloke, tbf) might have gone a graph too far with that one.

No idea if it was on there or here first. The whole point of the table is that it tells you who has played hard games. There is literally no way it can be made to favour Liverpool.
Fascinating, everyone else has told me one thing and you told me another. I'm not sure who to believe.

Think had they gotten kieta and VVD, they would have sold him, now with faliure in transfer market they will keep him. Also Can is refusing their contract offer and might move to juve, so they will need coutinho in midfield even more.

I don't know really know how the table works, but somebody has to decide what a "hard game" constitutes for each individual team right? Couldn't there can be some bias inserted through that?

Most, if not all variants, will simply pick the top sides from the season before. They don't pick Bournemouth as a difficult game for Liverpool but an easy game for United.

I don't think this is exact but they basically split it into

The top six teams
Next six teams
Bottom eight teams

Based on last season.

It must have been amazing to watch that happen to the poor bloke

Was his analysis actually competent or just made up shite?
Most of it was focused around how great Brendan Rodgers was, tactical genius, United are shite playing caveman football etc.

He got very nasty when people dared to question him.

Given that a RAWK mod once congratulated himself on his cycling exploits via a second account, I reckon that PoP was one of their reactionary mod twits.

It would be great to be able to moderate real life the way the RAWK admins do. Your parents are having a huge argument, about to split up and you come in shouting "right you fecking bedwetting whoppers, I'm locking this".

Phase of Play producing pie charts and graphs on his parents' sex life.
