Ravel Morrison (Only football related)

Its a real shame if he throws away his talent, he's got such a great opportunity to be a fantastic player.

To be honest i think twitter helps with things like that. These reumours would have still happened on websites etc, twitter helps clarify if something is true a lot quicker IMO. Anyway, good news if he's not suspended.

Well naturally it works both ways. It's a quick way to stop a wildfire of rumours.
Unfortunately more often than not Twitter itself is the cause for the wildfire, where as before you'd just have a couple small barn fires here and there from spastics on forums and in pubs.

I can see the upside of Twitter when it relates to a bit a of victimless transfer muppetry fun and the like, but I can't stand how effective it is in making untrue rumours about a young player seem like gospel within a couple minutes.

That being said, I also wouldn't take Ogden's word as gospel.

A lot of the rumours seem be coming from one source on twitter (who was wrong last time) and who doesn't seem to like Morrison. He seems quite bitter hence why I don't particularly take his word for gospel but unfortunately a lot of people seem to follow him and as such these rumours propagate even further and are taken as fact. I wouldn't be surprised if it is him on RI either.

It's these type of situations that I think that maybe this sub-forum should be only visible by members.

I doubt that anyone posting on here would like to read these sort of rumours about themselves broadcast around the world and we should think of that as we post.

Not only is he just a young lad but he's our young lad. In cases such as this it's better to leave the rumours alone.

So you think he's likely to go down even though you don't know if the list of offences are true? Great logic at work there.

Sorry, I wasnt clear enough. It is alleged by that person that the club expect him to receive a custodial sentence for the offence for which he is supposedly in court this week. Im sure you post on there so you know who he is and that he's the only one on there with accepted credibility.

Who is that person on twitter? Ive noticed one individual who seems to have an axe to grind.

Id love Morrison to achieve all he can in the game and from what Ive seen of him he has that rare genius in some of the things he does that mark him out as a future potential star. Its also clear from his past record and his own old facebook page that he's a bit of a plank and it would be a real shame if he throws it all away. Even if he's not too keen on the game itself, plenty of people do jobs they dont adore for a good wage and when the potential income is as great as his potentially is he'd be an utter Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime not to give his best to achieve it.

Is he not particularly interested in football?

Does anyone know what he's suppose to have done?

I'm getting a strange sense of deja vu? Wasn't he rumoured to be suspended about a year ago?

IIRC he was arrested in 2009 for possesion of a fire arm.

Not sure about this alleged offences, just only read about one offence on RI. Although I didn't have read their whole thread as it was quite gigantic in size.

Who exactly are we talking about?

I thought it was fairly clear? I think I mentioned his twitter account on another page but don't really want be directing more traffic his way by posting it again.

Cheers!

I know who you mean and know this person. His sources are very solid and he is a long standing supporter who hates United's name being dragged through the mud.

United have been very inconsistent with managing Morrison's problems in relation to other juniors and this can be frustrating for some.

If it was an isolated rumour then I would agree with most of the sentiment about airing views on Twitter or any other communication forum.

However, there have been too many instances with Morrison...two of which have been reported in the national press. So that is hardly spreading a rumour.

I think the difference is that you are discussing in public the private life of a 17 year old who has only got the exposure due to the club he's at and his obvious talent.

It can go either way for him, but while he's still at the club it is my opinion that people should be supportive, or at least not be fuelling the fire, even if they have what they perceive (and may well be true) good grounds for their opinions.

That's the point. The second you become a footballer these days you give up a private life. If he was a crap player then would everyone be supportive? If it was a first team player would everyone be supportive.

I believe that I am a pretty reasonable and fair person willing to look for the positive in most situations....with particular emphasis on supporting youth players.

But it is a two way street....the players have a responsibility too.

Forget football for a minute...if this was the behaviour of any other 17 year-old then.......?

Supportive or over-supportive?

And when does supportive turn into protective?

This is a hard issue for many fans and it divides opinions....

Maybe the best thing for him would be to send him on loan to Belgium or something. It would be a shame if he threw away his career because of peer pressure.

@ MUJAC

From a personal point of view at 17 you are still maturing as a person so people be more understanding, even if there is history, especially when they are unlikely to know him personally (he seems popular with his teammates) or his background.

I dislike the intrusion into player's privacy these days, I think it is destructive and people have an unhealthy interest (I am probably old school in my views though I'll readily admit) in strangers who happen to be in the public eye.

Just look at all the people who never post in here who are asking for PM's about his alleged incidents in the past.

I don't think that's quite right, and don't think it's fair to elaborate on a public forum.

Nonsense. No-one is accusing him of anything. In 2009 he was stopped in a car and he was questioned with some friends under the firearms act and misuse of drugs act. Or at least that's what was reported by news papers at the time.

Christ, the vultures really are circling this thread!

FWIW apparently the revised line is that he has been 'suspended' (MUFC deny this) for missing training.

Stop being so melodramatic. It's not about vultures circling more like fans being interested in one of our young players that may have fell in with the wrong crowd and got himself into trouble.

Hopefully you won't see anything either.

As you can see people purposely haven't posted them because they're only "alleged" by someone and so to post them would be unfair to the lad wouldn't it.

Well it should be all or nothing. If people want to protect him by not posting the alleged offences then they shouldn't post about it at all because it does nothing but peddle the rumour mill.

You said he was arrested for possession of a firearm and now you've changed it to something far less definitive which was my point

Actually, you've pretty much just contradicted yourself there in one sentence.

I've noticed you far more recently then before and your tag seems pretty fitting. Another for the ignore list.
