Budget wise it's still the same -- coming out of the budgeted pot for this summer.
We'll be fecked if that's the case. Rashford is only effective if hes coming in from the left, we need a striker who can operate centrally and hold up play, even if they are young.
Weren't the Glazers proposing to use the infamous "credit card", which has a limit of £300m or something.
I dont much rate Whitwell. It feels like his only sources are at the club, which means hel only tweet out the narrative they want him to write, rather what the actual situation might be.
For example recently he said we don't have enough money for Onana. I don't buy that. But I do think he's been briefed to write that because it helps our negotiations on the fee.

True, but can we even splash the sort of cash it will take to sign either of these players given FFP restrictions? I reckon we'd be talking £130-150m for either of them. Spurs would need an amount with which they can seriously improve their squad for them to allow Kane join us and potentially move us even further ahead of them. It would be a disastrous move on their part.
By all accounts we overspent by circa £100m last summer when we signed Antony. Pretty sure they said at the time that it would come from this summers budget.
I suspect that's quite a common tool amongst most clubs when you consider that their payments from Adidas and the TV broadcasters are staggered or irregular

That's what was reported in The Athletic. We won't have any access to their payment scheme or financial transaction processes.

He looks decent but I can’t say I’m that impressed by him. 70m euros is taking the piss.
Anything over 60m euros is beyond risky and one we probably can't afford.
I mean they don't want to sell him so they aren't going to quote something reasonable are they. If we really want him it's up to us to negotiate and for Rasmus to try and push Atalanta, if he's a big a fan as he says he is he has to realise this opportunity might not come up again, especially if we invest in a young forward in a season or two

I like this approach tbh. We definitely should stop overpaying then stuck with deadwood on insane wages that nobody wants.
This is a personal opinion based on partial evidence, but here hoes. I don't think he's ready to be leading the line in an EPL team with aspirations to challenge on all fronts, based on what I've seen. I think he's more of a Tony Martial back in 2015 type of signing. An explosive and dangerous player but currently not a very well rounded one. One who'll need a few seasons to mature into the role.
If it came down to the 2 then I think Muani's hold up play, aerial ability and vision in spotting (and executing) a final pass are superior and would prove much more valuable to us in the short term. Especially considering our main goal threat is Rashford and so a player who can also feed him, will amplify the threat of our attack. I don't mind signing players for the long term, but we do need a striker who can lead the line now. Otherwise we risk finishing outside the top 4, then ETH gets the sack and we have to start all over again. The long term is never really guaranteed. We have a pressing need for someone who's a bit more ready than Hojlund, someone who can be dropped straight into the starting XI.

I have to say I really disagree that we need another assist machine. We have plenty of those. What we need is someone who is clinical and actually manages to find himself at the right spot when all those passes arrive.
It absolutely is. He's a high potential young player - and a striker at that.
You aren't getting a young striker with such potential in this market for a piddly 40m Euro's unless there is a release clause. You all need to get with the times on these prices seriously

I think Martial of a couple of seasons ago, before the injuries, would have been far far more useful.
Assist machine? That's a bizarre take. He scored more than he assisted last year. He scored more than Hojlund, both in total goals and in non-penalty goals-per-90. He's isn't an assist machine, he's just a more rounded striker. Would you call Kane an assist machine, just because he has that in his locker? Does that ability make him any less clinical as a striker or less clinical than Hojlund specifically?

I said potential world class. He has excellent hold up play, off the ball movement and instincts for a 20 year old. These are absolutely crucial abilities to be a world class striker. Reminds me of Cavani actually. Strong and tall too which is going to help a ton in PL.
I have absolutely zero idea how good or talented this kid is. Is there anyone on here whose watched him enough to form a reasonable opinion on him.
