Why are you mixing valutas? If Kane was available for €100m, we would've gotten him. Selling to Bayern or to a club who are in direct competition is not the same. Levy isn't going to sell Kane to us for €100m. He wouldn't even do it for £100m.
Harry Kane would be closer to £110-120m, and factor in his wages and no re-sell value, and it's looking entirely different than signing Højlund.
I think it’s very unlikely we get Kane for 100m unless we wait until the end of the window which would be a huge risk

After Cavani, Falcao, Lukaku and Zlatan, I for one am happy we got Hojlund instead of Kane. Can’t wait to see him in action - always love the buzz of a young talent breaking through at United.

Except that over the four year contract that Kane is demanding he’d cost us in excess of £200m, whereas Hojlund will be less than half that. If that money is better invested elsewhere it might just be the better option

Sure, we paid a bit over the odds for Hojland but its worth getting him in and having some time to settle in before the season starts rather than wait until the last minute to save 10m. I would have loved Kane as I think he would probably have been a perfect fit but the figures being quoted, if true, are just unrealistic both in terms of wages and potential fee. I could possibly see us still enquiring about him in January if his situation hasn't changed but this is the right decision I believe. Would Kane have realistically have commanded a fee of 150m even a few years ago when he wasn't about to turn 30 with a year left on his contract? I am not so sure. Bayern aren't used to dealing with a club that won't be bullied and Kane isn't going to play along with their usual game plan and refuse to even consider any other club so I can see him going nowhere before the window closes.

This doesn’t make sense seeing as Smalling is a better/stronger defender than most premier league CB’s. You guys have built up this headcannon that somehow the prem is some sort of iron grid/crucible - when that isn’t reflective of reality.

The drastic reduction in their chances of CL football would be baked into the price to sell to a rival. Wouldn’t surprise me looking at the Rice deal if he’d want as much as 130-140m eur for him from a rival club.

I couldn’t give a monkies how individuals do, the collective is all that matters, and I find it bizarre so many care so much, like with the case of Antony.
We finished 6th, on 58 points in 2021/22 and needed big changes. Those changes, which included Antony, got us silverware, 3rd place & 75 points, our best total since 2018.
If Antony, Højlund or Mount don’t pull up trees but we go deep in the CL, improve our football, take mid 80’s points in the league and win more silverware, why would anyone question ETH?
