Didn’t know he’s 6’3. Should be a handful for a lot of sides I assume? How’s he aerially?

I was positive for 8 years and it got me nowhere, I now avoid looking at everything we do through red-tinted glasses.

Waiting to see how a largely unknown quantity works out is not red tinted, it's just logical.

Love the kid but just like when Spurs signed Eriksen, I’m stuck between hoping he’s a smashing success and praying for his downfall. I hate this move. Congrats you feckers.

How many goals will he score this season?
And what would be acceptable?

Personally i think he wont score more than 10 in the league and anything under 13 is not enough.

Huge fee. Don’t know anything else about him. Hopefully he links up well with our other attacking players and scores some goals too!

Do you think he will succeed in the prem? Would you have taken him at Chelsea?

Hoping for his success. Fellow Dane?

What is this fee!?

I wanted him here but this us way above what I thought we would pay for him. Seems like I forgot for a second we've got Saint Murtough in charge. I expect his defence force to come tell us how he is actually a genuis because we didn't pay the €100M demanded by Atalanta.

Bloody hell!

No one is a genius here, but we literally didn't have a striker, so feck the price. Would you be more happy that we end up with no striker which fecks up our season but you would feel with more clear conscience that we didn't overpay? Feck that.

Almost everyone is getting fleeced in this market so stop fecking whinging and let the manager correct the ship. Everyone is a fecking flop in here until they're not. Every player that signs for Manchester United deserves a bit of positivity from the supporters because this is a tough club to perform in.
We are coming of the back of a successful season and finally have a plan to improve this squad. That costs a bit more because it's United.

It's not only how much he scores but how much we as a team score. If he is good enough and allows Marcus to play in his best position (left cutting in) and Antony becomes more productive having a CF to aim for and Mount has someone who can feed off hod layoffs. If with him we score 80 this season and he only scores 10 he would have done a good job

Excited for this. Beeing a Dane myself I can't wait to see him for us. Would be a dream to have a Danish attacker lead the line for us.

My biggest concern is the pressure that follows with the pricetag. The fans and media will be all over him if he doesn't hit the ground running.

But when's the last time we've brought in a young and promising striker like him. I hope his hunger and desire to prove himself will make up for the lack of experience. I'm personally fed up with the stop-gap solutions we've chosen the last many years.

Most positive post of the day, and from an oppo. Have a fecking long hard look at yerselves in the mirror redcafe.

I know it's a boring thing to do but you also have to take into account the wages and how that's spread along with the fee.

So if Højlund's fee is spread over 5 years, and he's on maybe 1/4 of what Kane and maybe even Osimhen would be paid, the money he costs per year is significantly less.

It's not 'just' £50m more as a transfer fee, it's closer to £100m as a whole package.
You're right that it's the fee + wages, but at the same time is the aim not to actually get to a point where we can win things again? I also doubt Hojlund's wage will be as low as some think. I had this same thought when we signed Antony for that ridiculous fee last summer and I thought he'd be on £100k max, only to find out he's on £200k per week, coming off a £30k per week contract at Ajax. I doubt Hojlund will be on less than £120k. Kane would maybe have been £300k+ (though he's only on £200k at Spurs currently) but no way Osimhen would have been over £250k per week considering he's barely on over £100k per week currently. It's not like we'd have been paying either of them Ronaldo money. Sorry, but I don't buy any argument that Hojlund instead of Kane/Osimhen for £50-60m less is a good decision.

It's a lot of money but that's what it takes to sign a striker with potential these days. Isak went for £60m last year, Darwin Nunez went for £65m rising to £85m. Hojlund seems to have the raw materials, hopefully we can make it work.

Then let's hope he comes good then. The whole idea was that it wouldn't be that much of a risk at the previously quoted fee. Now he must deliver at all costs.

Isn't he about 6ft 3ins? He is a unit. How fast is he?
Doesn't look particularly nippy in the few clips I've seen. Not that I would have liked Kane for this really.

Not bothered about overpaying 10-15M. We very simply needed a striker, ideally one with ten years of development and contribution ahead and not another stopgap. If he is the profile ETH wanted feck it, move om. If he isn't... then we are fecked anyway.

If you pay 10 for something with a value of 1 today. If the value is 20 next year, you didnt get a good deal.

You lost out on 9
Ok just to completely kill this ridiculous idea as apparently it wasn’t obvious enough. Forget it’s United.

Let’s say Darwin Nunez hits 30pl goals this season. He then hits 30 the season after and then again the season after. Would Liverpool have got ‘value’ for their investment?

Not convinced whatsoever but what do I know. I really hope I’m wrong.

Romano just broke the transfer fee down and according to him the fee is €70M guaranteed with €5m easy add ons and a additional €10m add ons being difficult to achieve and will require United to win trophies.

It's £64m. What the hell were you expecting? 30m?

A young, exciting Scandinavian striker. Great!

If he can just match Håland’s debut season in terms of goals, I’ll be happy enough.

Do you think he will succeed in the prem? Would you have taken him at Chelsea?

He’s very raw, there’s no way around that, he’s very unproven but Ten Hag is a brilliant coach to develop under so I think he’s in good hands. I just hope the fans give him time.

I would have taken him at Chelsea.

A wimp. 35% aerial duel win rate, same as the 4 inch shorter Martial basically.

The deal was 68m€ and then Lille bought 4 players for 20m. The disparity is with the 81m€ claims.

68M€ for Osimhen is close to what United paid for Hojlund.

Yes, and those four players were in reality worth approximately nothing, meaning Osimhen's real cost was around 50m.

Well, then lets hope Utd don't win any trophies.
