Lot of needless pressure on the lad, I hope we don’t lose patience with him, especially with the media peddling the “new Haaland” bullshit.

Wow 96 million. He must be an incredible player and I guess that cements united as challengers and co- favorites
Explain please how did you reach this number? I’m abit disappointed you didn’t go for 100m.

We live in a world where you have to pay for potential and it is clear that Hojlund clearly has that in spades. I feel that the comparisons with Nunez are a little unfair - Nunez came from a weaker league and was always hoping to be compared to the goal scoring freak that is Haaland.

Nunez scored 15 in his first season, I’d take that for Hojlund first season as I can see Rashford, Mount, Et al all contributing from midfield.

9 in 32 is hardly great. I was thinking someone might suggest he wasn't always starting, they were big, important goals etc.

It's in 1834 minutes(around 20 full games) and 8 of them are in the second half of the season but more importantly in Serie A, he registered a G+A every 166 minutes which is good.

Spoken like someone that has no clue about Onana being free last year. Just an FYI he agreed to join Inter in January months before ETH was hired.
Mate we have like 200 scouts who should be monitoring the world for deals like this, not just rely on ETH

Seems like the only way we will avoid being rinsed is by buying players in positions before it becomes a necessity....hopefully lessons have been learnt.

As I wrote in the Murtough thread, like the signing but the money is insane. The fixed fee is higher than Nunez and he's had one season in Serie A.

As for his G/A return, I am getting absolutely sick of reading he's only scored 9 goals last season. I had a look and he had something like 10 G/A in Serie A which based on his minutes played was 0.54 per 90. Not too shabby and he seems he's got loads of space for growth.

Thanks for turning down presumably many lucrative sporting director jobs to post on here for free.
Didn’t realise you had to be a DoF to think Mount is an underwhelming signing or that £70m is a massive overpay for a lad with 9 goals to his name. You don’t see me making comments like this about some of your abysmal takes.

And he’s got like 6 in 6 for Denmark I think?

Wasnt our last bid 50 million euro's plus 10 million euro add-ons, how do we then jump to 75 million euro's + 10 million euro add-ons?

It doesnt make much sense. We will keep getting rinsed in the future and need a potent DOF + scouting structure sooner rather than later. This is not sustainable at all.

Doesn't make sense that the price jumped 50%. That's not how you should negotiate.

My gut feeling is that the price quoted is wrong or we have some deals on advanced stage to sell our unwanted players.

Thanks. Yeh that does put him in a better light. Not having seen him play nor knowing much about him, the stats didn't look great so some context is welcomed.

According to Ornstein and Whitwell, United made a money + players offer earlier this month that was rejected.

Well being one for a living apparently isn't good enough for you to hold any weight in those people's opinions.

We still had a goalkeeper then, one who we were apparently renewing his contract. It wasn't until ETH came in and made the decision, one that should have been made a while back, to get rid.

From what I've seen from him, he has the physical attrtibutes to manage the EPL. Given he's only 20, with top quality coaching, he will only get better.

Your posts are overwhelmingly negative.

We have paid £64 million on him, not £72 million. People need to calm down. The £8 million in add on's will be pl and cl success, and probably the ballon dor, and if we do end up paying the full amount it will obviously mean he's been a huge success. Chill out!

If we’d been flawless in the transfer market then I wouldn’t have doubts, but we’ve had far more misses than hits.

Feck ton of money but he's in good hands playing under Erik. We got a striker, midfielder and GK, good window IMO.

In 2023, he has 15 goals for club and country in 22 starts and 5 subs. Half season adaptation period where he was almost exclusively a sub at age 19 after joining a major league for the first time is hardly a big deal, no?

I'd anticipate he'll need an adaptation period here too. He's young and growing. But saying "9 in 32" with no context is misleading.
