Rasmus Højlund | Signed for United

The only way this €100m figure makes sense is if it's a leak to make Murtough look good when he pays "only" €70m for him.

even that makes no sense given nobody believes it

people are just discussing if it’s United or journalists are making it up

we’re just applying Woody logic to Murtough but I doubt he’s that stupid

None of the coaches trust our scouting department. Its a running theme. They must not be very convincing

fair enough

Fair enough with Hojlund. Erisken was training with Ajax in 2022 to build up his fitness whilst Eth was coach

how many coaches enjoy success with this method. Liverpool and City have not just signed ex Klopp and Pep players

Eriksen training with Ajax before returning to club football last year. Eth was the head coach.

Eriksen was brought to Ajax at youth level when their head of youth recruitment was Henny de Regt. And since 2016, de Regt has been at United and is currently the head of European scouting at first team level. Along with Eriksen, he's been credited with discovering the talents of de Ligt and Wesley Sneijder in the past aswell.

regardless though, again notice he’s saying 70mill Euros where as all the British press are saying 85mill pounds or 100mill euros

Having a go at people like romano for tweeting the same thing over and over again is like having a go at women for selling nude photos on only fans. They are just making easy money off idiots (somehow in Romano's case, not sure how exactly but I assume he is).

I see people getting flak for suggesting ETH is only after players he already knows. I think Casemiro is the proof that this isn't necessarily true but at Ajax he did bring in some dead weight from Utrecht. We had to get rid of some Wout Weghorsts ourselves after ETH left.
I think the only one that may fit into this category is Antony. But it's probably a season too early to state that. The other signings he knows have been fine. I'm sure he's not stupid enough to think that everyone he has been associated with is good enough to follow him to United!

€70m works out at just over £60m so if that’s the case then this will get done without much fuss. British media making an arse of the currencies as per usual.

If those numbers are accurate, what is the problem? £60m which is the middle of our range is around €70m.

Fabrizio Romano can be so incredibly tedious with his repetitive, meaningless tweets

Out of curiosity would you find that meaningless if it was reported PSG had offered this exact same contract to Rasmus?

With Ronaldo’s work rate and diet, Rooney would have won a ballon d’or. He was a sublime talent.
I agree except one thing. Rooney never got where he was without a great work rate. It was all the other nonsense diet etc that slowed him down or limited his ceiling. Every injury seemed to take away 5% afterwards. He was flying until those metatarsal injuries

I don't think there has ever been a problem with this deal. It's a 90 percenter. The media just like to lead people down the garden path because it gets attention.

That's all the PSG and inflated fee stuff is. Posturing, positioning themselves for a deal. But the media know fans buy into every single line. But ultimately this is a simple equation. Selling club that won't kill off their golden goose with absurdity and a big club and player that desperately want the deal. It will happen.

Absolutely but my point was that for people that closely follow Ajax the criticism isn't something new. To be clear it sometimes worked out wonderfully. Nobody was impressed with us buying Haller for big bucks but it worked out perfectly with Antony in the team. Not suggesting United should go for Haller but he does know what he's doing.

Completely agree. Talent hasn't been the issue at Manchester United, its been mentality, discipline and character. Ten Hag bringing in players he knows or has seen up close massively reduces the risk of a signing failing, assures he has players who buy into his system and buys him more time to bed in at the club.

Even if you look at his "worst" signing so far, Antony, he doesnt lack character or effort on the pitch.

Whilst the recruitment, scouting and negotitation teams are being restructured it makes absolute sense for ten Hag to do what he's done.

This would be the first big signing that I assume Ten Hag didn’t lead things on, since the others were all players he was familiar with (coached or coached against) or known quantities on loans like Sabitzer (he didn't play in the Ajax-Leipzig friendly of 2021 and also it was a friendly not even sure that would count).

I wonder what led Ten Hag to support this one. Maybe just insanely glowing reports at a position we need? Eriksen or that guy who brought him to Ajax?

But either way this feels like the first big signing of the post-“I don’t trust anyone at this club talking about football” era for Ten Hag.

Discsussing it on here... Your average back page The Sun reader laps it up.

Journos having no clue here, seems like it's safe to assume we're in a stalemate with this transfer.

We bid a few times to Chelsea for Mount right? And now we're talking about bidding for the first time for how long now? Something is off.

Why is there still such a huge disparity on the fee between the British and Italian press?

It's ridiculous that it takes an entire transfer window (or sometimes 2 or even 3 transfer windows) for us to bid for a player. Always some drama.
Meanwhile, clubs like LFC and even AFC are able to get their business done quickly. I've watched several documentaries on footballers and they all say that when they are sold it is done very quickly with little notice.
The negotiating team at MUFC should be fired. They are beyond incompetent.
Either make the deal or move on to another target.

They spent ages getting Rice over the line.

I don't feel worried about this. We'll get it done. Funny how being halfway competent in the Mount and Onana deals has influenced the way I think.

And it's people like you who cry when we overpayand get fleeced by every club out there. So what now? Pay every fee they want or stay firm and negotiate?

So you aren't aware of the Glazer sign off then

No? Where did you get that from? Honestly you're creating a load of nonsense because of your own lack of patience. It's quite clear this is progressing in the direction towards a deal.

Yeah it's definitely progressing
