Rasmus Højlund | Signed for United

We’ve spent about 170m on the right wing in the last 2 summer windows ETH isn’t going to replace Anthony after spending 90m last summer

We need a striker and if our only target was Hojlund then every single member of that transfer team need firing

I do agree we should fill the squad with any old crap though it needs to be the right player
Nah, if it comes to that, we’ll go for Muani or Kudus. None of us knows how highly those options rank against Hojlund in ETH’s plan, but those are solid options.

Those other targets aren't even strikers

If we don't sign a striker we are just asking for trouble next season.

NO striker is not an acceptable outcome and neither is a stop gap or loan striker. We've been down that road time and time again already

Not sure I actually believe it tbh, it's like us saying we'd go for Caicedo when Chelsea wouldn't drop their valuation of Mount and it turned out it was just bs. Kolo Muani will be more expensive than Hojlund for starters

Personally I'd look for a RW for that £60m. Someone who can score goals and improve the attacking unit as a whole. Then revisit a striker next summer. Last thing we should do is go for Ten Hag's 3rd or 4th option from the Dutch league and end up with some shite Weghorst type

Please, tell us who that RW is. Are you aware of the lack of top class right wingers these days?

I can't think of a single one that would be available

Oh I have no doubt these are all true, that’s why we’re lazer-focusing on Hojlund. I’m just saying IF that falls apart for whatever reason, those seem to be the alternatives.

Given the anti-Kane briefs today, sounds like it would be Kolo-Muani from most reports

I have no idea if we briefed that we don’t want Kane

but if we did do that, I can’t think of a single reason to do it unless we do want him

Why so slow? Do we need to sell before we can buy? Is the asking price too high? The season starts in a few weeks and Martial is not in full training. But let us play Rashford or Sancho up front, or is the plan to use Höjlund as a bench option and hence the lack of urgency?

Again apparently Atalanta want 86mill but I just find it hard to believe that we think we'll get them down by 26mill and not just walk away

It's not a brief, it's a journalist for one of the nations worst papers talking shite.
Every Manchester United based journalist has reported this exact thing at the same time tonight, that's without a doubt a brief

Just a mental post. We’ve spent 75m on Sancho and 80m on Antony for that position in the last two years. We aren’t buying another 60m RW without shifting one of those. It’s also true that a CF is by far and away a much bigger priority by orders of magnitude.

Yeah we keep hearing that fee from UK sources and like you say that's some figure to get down

They don't want 86m according to Italian sources, someone is lying

I reckon Atalanta are pretty confident that PSG will swoop for this kid when Mbappe leaves and that's why they're not budging. I think we'll miss out and I'm not too bothered, just move Rashford into the middle and sign Muani to play on the left in that case.

Again, all the English journos reporting €100m fee, whereas the Italians have Atalanta's demand much lower than that. Very odd.

Problem with Kolo-Muani is that not really a 9

Well that's mental, why would we move our best player out of position and then sign someone else to play them out of theirs?

If PSG sell M'bappe then they'll probably aim for bigger fish than Højlund. I very much doubt he's going to move to Saudi Arabia right now anyway. Even if he does, that feels like a transfer saga that could really drag on.

£86m makes no sense when you could likely get Kane for another £20m. £60m and there’s a bit more thinking to do in terms of age, potential and price tag compared to Kane.

Not sure what United would have to gain by making up a high fee

nothing obviously, journalists are making it up

the briefing era under Woody had ended.. the new lads rarely do it

won’t stop journalists using this perception to try and add legitimacy to their horseshit though

Kane is only for sale to English clubs for stupid money, spurs have made this clear.

The only thing that’s likely when dealing with Danny Levy is that it’s likely to be a horrible time.

At that price, I'd rather spend half a season with Rashford as the only CF and then buy Ivan Toney in January.
