Rasmus Højlund | Signed for United

PSG could definitely offer more money and higher wages than us I think, but the French league can't be that enticing and it does feel like PSG are on the way down and we are on the way up.

Romano is saying the player would rather come here.

Could you elaborate more on this mate? Would be very interesting imo.

Sure. When Gasparini gives him minutes he runs channels a lot; so he finds himself out wide receiving the ball in transition and quite often isolated and not always in optimal areas to get high percentage shots in the box. This also accounts for compilation videos showing him losing the ball surrounded by the opposition. Ten Hag, by contrast, had someone like Haller and Wout occupying the centre and holding their position to play off the midfielders. Under Ten Hag he'll find himself in the kind of areas he finds himself in when he plays with the Danish national team, which incidentally, finds Hojlund more prolific and in dangerous areas to score.

I see. Thanks a lot mate.

Btw do you watch Atalanta on a regular basis? Or sometime only?

Edit: I don't know about Haller but imo both Martial and WW were not really mainly occupying the centre. They're a bit here and there especially Martial imo. Still remember people criticising him for not get into the box enough but hanging around too much. WW mostly was not even a #9 but rather a CB in a #10 position imo.

Kane isn't just a question of money. Reports after reports have said Levy won't sell to a rival. Oshimen is valued at 170m. When you don't have options, you develop one, that's what all great coaches do. And right now, we don't have options.

It's mostly about money though isn't it, because it sounds like United couldn't compete financially for him this year anyway. Levy might not want to sell to a rival but if the player wanted the move and the rival sticks the biggest bid in there's a chance it gets done. If he's not going to sign a new deal it's a huge call to let him move for nothing next year.

My point - which I don't think is that controversial, is that I can understand fans being concerned, given the money wasted on young players in recent years, that this would be another dud.

Ten Hag doesn't have the luxury of time to "develop" players over an extended period. He needs quality, now and in a team lacking goals, a reliable option. Hopefully, if this goes through, the player delivers.

I don't think this analysis really changes irrespective of whether we buy Hojlund or any other striker that is realistic at present.

It's the same for many teams around Europe, you don't really want to suffer an injury to your best player and if they do it becomes a struggle. If they were easy to replace they wouldn't be that good. I don't see any striker we could get that would leave me comfortable if Rashford is out for a whole season.

I agree to an extent, but other teams are less reliant on a single player to get goals. Others need to step up and contribute as well, but we need someone who'll get 15 goals, alongside Rashford.

First you didn't answer my question about the made up stuffs?

Second I criticised him because he didn't score not because his teammates scored the goals themselves. In fact I don't even get the logic of this question or what you wanted to say.

Third it's you who started criticising another poster calling his logic absurd without providing a single detail in the match to support your opinion. Now as that logic seems fine enough you started to go for the match details? Oh how convenient. Just stop moving the goal posts mate.

Tbh I really hate discussing things with any poster who dodge the real question and try moving the goal posts once they lost their point. It's just stupid and pointless so please don't quote me anymore. Anyway don't forget to contact @Amadaeus you two would make some really good friend I reckon.

You made up stuff like "as a #9, when your team score 10 goals and the #9 doesn't score, it's because you didn't know how to get at the end of these chances or didn't know how to finish".

You said this without even watching the goals. Why do you criticise Højlund because Lookman shot and scored? Do you blame him for not flying up in the air and heading a shot into the goal?

You also made up that "something is obviously wrong" because he didn't score in a friendly, which quite frankly is a laughable take.

Even the most critical posters of Højlund acknowledge how ridiculous it is to criticise him for not scoring a goal in a friendly.

It is just you and another poster who are obsessed with him not scoring and claiming something is really wrong.

Also, it's really hard to take you seriously when your last three posts include stuff about how I am Højlund's mom and I should meet up with another poster.

That's fine but some players just have playing habits that are really difficult to eradicate. Like undoubtedly a coach has told Martial that he needs to start making runs into the box and between cbs rather than dropping deep or into wider areas but he never does it. Coaches must have told De Gea over time that he needs to start coming off his line for crosses or to sweep balls away but he never did it. No guarantee that a change in coach will mean Hojlund starts running between the CBs rather than in the channels between CBs and FBs.

Didn’t he say that a week ago?

He is a tweet whore, why anyone believes a fecking thing he says as gospel is beyond me. Yes he has a few connections but he literally had to apologise a few years ago for whoring other people info. How he is still deemed level 1 is beyond me.

I would put more faith in my grans tea leaves.

If he scored 10 goals in that friendly his price would rise to 100m, good thing he didn't score, he really wants to come here so didn't score on purpose.

Prove me wrong

I’m still trying to figure this lad out. I only have the stuff on YouTube to go off like most everyone else, but there’s a lot going on there.

He’s a little rough around the edges and he reminds a little of a young Mark Hughes, but with added speed. Shades of RVN also.

He plays in the channels a lot, but his instinct is to get in the box which I like. He’s not a goal poacher as such. His finishing aint the best, but that will improve and he’s young and has some real fight in him.

I want us to bring him in. He’ll learn a lot and grow at United. It’s the best place for him. I do think we need to find an OGS type player who will just be there when we need him to finish a chance instinctively.

If we can move Martial on and recruit Rasmus and hope we land a proven goalscorer I’ll be very happy.

he’s definitely a bit of a spoofer, albeit one with some good info too

you can tell by the language like, “there’s a feeling”

but most of them are these days

they are rewarded for clicks , not good journalism.. the only thing I find surprising is so many people put so much weight into what these cnuts say

most clubs just don’t release transfer info, there’s rarely any advantage to it

I'm happy to trust United and Ten Hag on their choice of target but with the thing starting to drag a little bit and the potential fee valuation being fuzzy still (Over 60m€ would be overpay IMO) I do hope they have a couple of B options if this one doesn't go through. The club absolutely needs at least one dedicated striker added whatever the case. Maybe a second one (though that might depend what happens with Greenwood and if Martial can be available a tad more) but I'm less worried about that, might be decent loans on offer late in the window (?)

That's the point isn't it? Kane is the obvious answer and he'd slot in and guarantee goals - but the club can't afford him.

Obviously Ten Hag thinks he can develop him into a goal scorer, but my point is that I can see why some fans are concerned if the club buys another young project player, given the big money spent on similar players who haven't been good enough.

If it would be a 60M Kane vs Hojlund decision it’s a no brainer. But it isn’t, it’s a decision beetween 60M 20yo normal wages Hojlund against 80M+,

He is a premium news recycler. Tweets something like 3 times with different wording and then does a daily clickbait summary of the day to recycle even more

Could Hojlund also do alright at RW sometimes if needed?

Antony and Amad still don't seem convincing.

This lad is raw with clear potential but he can't be our main striker signing for the summer, would like to think Ten Hag has got a classic centre forward lined up before the window closes.

Were you getting this opinion from? If anything his stats state the exact opposite of your post

He’s currently getting caught looking at all the stories/posts of him on Instagram photoshopped in United gear and reports of bids going in from United. He is so absolutely desperate I love it

If PSG are in for him and Bayern are in for Kane then that gives us a free run at Muani so we should get him at a lower price as we would be the only interested party...it is a win win situation.
That is of course if we believe the bullshite.

Muani isn't a proper CF though, and he wouldn't be cheap either.

Love that players now want to join us and we’re becoming their first choice when other teams want them. ETH with the pulling power.

He plays as a CF for his club and his national team and they are not too shabby
I know that he would not be cheap but the price that Atalanta are demanding for their player seems excessive in my opinion and if Muani can be bought for a similar price then I think he would represent better value as he is the more accomplished player.

Could we see a scenario where we sign both
If this guy costs north of £60m I find it hard to see us spending that much on a back up player, as Kane it the type (and cost profile) that would expect to be starting every PL and CL game he is available for.

Ideally sign both but I doubt it.

Will be risky to halt our pursuit of Hojlund to chase Kane as if we fail to sign Kane Hojlund might join someone else in the mean time

He is raw, but if ETH thinks he is the man for the job, I trust in his judgement. He can only be an upgrade on Weghorst and Martial. Although I’ll prefer Kane, but with the leeches he is unobtainable.

About he not scoring in the 10-0 Atalanta win, let me tell you an anecdote. In 2012, Real Madrid played against Millonarios, one of the shitty teams of the shitty Colombian league, and destroyed them 8-0. Benzema, one of the best forwards of the last 10-15 years, only scored once while a washed up Kaka scored 3 goals, and there was no fuss over it. The lesson for me is, aunique friendly, isn’t enough to judge a player.

Could we see a scenario where we sign both

The only scenario I see this happening is if negotiations with Jassim are almost finished, and we pull a late window signing of Kane as we did with RVP in 2012. But with the leeches at the helm, Kane is impossible this summer.

I know I’m not qualified to judge how much a young prospect should cost. But this one seems highly risky, considering Glazers’ sales of the club in stall and we have limited fund available.
Brighton just added another interesting striker, Pedro, who looks like a gem. I don’t know what they eventually become, Pedro, Ferguson, and Hojlund. But, I just want to blame the Glazers for the mess they continue to create in this transfer window!
