Hojlund was poor.

He had one good moment that I can remember, when he spun in behind and squared it Garnacho. However, he's gotta be benched after that.

His attacking runs were very bad. Often he and Garnacho were running in the same ways, pulling out left. When the ball was wide I didn't see any evidence of him trying to get across the near post either.

His hold up play was non-existence. For Southampton he was basically a wall the ball bounced off to them.

I have kept faith with him because he's a finisher. However, in a team like ours you cannot just expect to be spoonfed scoring chances. We don't have that quality and we aren't that dominant. He has a lot of work to do.

But we’ll flip flop between them both between now and the end of the season. Zirkzee outperformed him, but only as a link up player. He also had chances to set up a strike or take one himself but didn’t.

Game changed when he went off. And there is no co-incidence in that. cant hold the ball up, cant link up play.

He's been bad but there is a coincidence. Most of the 'good' performances from our strikers have been when they've come on as subs or when we 'turn it on' aka come back from behind.

Zirkzee deserves to start but it's hapless task being a Utd striker when you have Bruno and Garnacho spamming shots instead of trying to find your striker.

I've always defended him. I think he's shown enough to know there's a player there. But I am fast moving into the lane of thinking he should be the backup striker to the top striker we need.

I think he quite literally only did only one thing right tonight? That run & pass to Garnacho (that should've been an assist to be fair to him). I struggle to think of one duel that he had won or of one good pass that he had made.

He does have those impressive performances in his arsenal (usually in Europe) but it feels like they are few and far between compared to this kind of anonymous performances. And his overall play seems to have regressed over the past season somehow. Maybe some time as a second choice will do him better, he clearly needs a reboot.

I keep saying and saying and saying for 2 years now; service is just a lazy excuse.
Today was absolute prime example what even decent striker can do for team's general play.
Zirkzee and Sulemana were focal points of attacks. They both managed to control the ball on centre of the pitch, hold it and start attack. Hojlund was nowhere near any ball.

He is not PL player. Just cut our losses this winter and buy proper striker.

He is having a really poor season. He is pretty much a poacher at this point. If we aren't putting opportunities on a plate for him he isn't offering us anything. Should be benched now for Zirkzee. Such a waste of money, despite having high hopes for him.
