Rashford | Villa | Loan with option to buy

Yes it clearly looks like hes someone who was capable of scoring 30 goals for us, and is currently doing decently well for a team who are 7th while our current team has scored just 30 goals all season and we're 15th

Sometimes you have to accept that

He did that only once in his almost ten seasons here and in his second best season he scored 22, how is that even an argument?

We dont know how he trained. We know how Amorim felt he trained. We know Amorim felt he didnt change in the way he wanted. That doesnt mean it didnt happen, it means Amorim's feeling is it didnt happen.

Either way Emery is clearly happy to have him at least on the bench if not starting. We'll see how that goes and if he drops him because he doesnt press enough or something

Why do you think he wasn't instant starter for Villa if he's trained well, or if he did well in previous games? If he was good in training surely he should have been match ready by now considering he wasn't missing any trainings for us.

The fact that he wasn't match fit so far should tell you few things about his level of training in recent months.

Yes. So he did it. So he can do it. Thats how things work

He was dropped for months so how could he play well?

Before that he was good against Everton on the 1st of December scoring 2 goals. He was then dropped and not seen again for United after the 12th of the same month
He had no goals or assists for us every game he was banished for having a personality. Weird, probably lazy

Even if he wasn't a massive issue for you on and off the pitch, but simply going through the motions, there's no position for him in a 343. So unless the square peg can be made round (considering also he's never struck me as versatile), it's also a case of simply offloading the sellable assets that doesn't fit in the manager's setup.

See also Garnacho.

Personally I think that's a dumb consequence of choosing an inflexible manager with an approach poorly suited to this squad, but it's one that should be embraced by the top management the moment they decided to go with Amorim.
Good points made.
A lot of people claiming Rashford would be better in the team but as you've pointed out he doesn't fit the system.
He can't play as a 9/10 and is more effective coming in from the left.
To be fair to him he most probably thought
" My position is on the left, I've been messed around too many times, I want back into England camp and I'm not prepared to learn another role"
Ruben's inability to be flexible on his system is also another issue.

No, that's how stating history football facts work. That's not how discusssing football using arguments work. Otherwise people would be saying stuff like we should sign Van Der Sar for peanuts because he was the best in the league, hence better than Onana. Just because he did something few seasons ago, and that happened just once in 10 seasons, it doesn't mean it's valid argument. Not unless you are 10 year old and discussing on facebook.

Why did you ignore my question about him not starting games?

So you dont think that someone doing something is proof they can do it. Right I'll ignore you from now on

He’s playing for a big move to an elite club where he can carve a comfy niche there.

He’s that girl in the nightclub who’s got her eye on Chad Thundercock brooding in the corner and decided to snog some random 6/10 twat right in front of him in order to provoke Chad into making a move.

Would just comment that all I hope is he plays motivated at least 3 months so we get some money for him and move him on. Same with Sancho.

It was all about the money. If he were on 150k a week things would have been different

It's so weird to see people defending a player who blatantly refused to make any effort for the club you're meant to support. Who was constantly sulking around, going out with his mates, walking around the pitch looking completely disinterested and watching opposition players pass him with the ball. Who suddenly couldn't run past anyone and didn't know what a cross was if it wasn't on a big hold chain around his neck.

Worse still, he's finally been deservedly dropped, and instead of thinking about the club, could only think of himself. Immediately moaning in the press (again) about moving on elsewhere instead of putting in a shift in training. Then when he gets his move he's suddenly arsed again because he's no longer sitting comfortable on huge wages able to not be arsed. Suddenly he's playing for a move elsewhere. Selfish to the core and more than happy to leave United in the shit.

Cannot wait to see the back of him, and I do not wish him well.
100% correct.

But you also saw him on the pitch right? The manager said he wasn't training and living right and that's exactly how he looked on the pitch.

Some coincidence if you're saying he was training well and it was simply a case of Amorim having a false impression.
I can believe he wasn't living right but I don't believe he wasn't training right though. He's probably put in a similar level of effort throughout his entire career but Amorim and him just didn't agree.

Being honest, Rashford joined us as a 7 year old in 2005.
He saw much of the Fergie years before, like us, being subjected to the paint-drying spectacle of Moyes and LVG, the circus of Jose, the too nice days of Ole and the identity fraud of ETH.
He's also watched the Glazers suck the life, profit and pride from our until recently magnificent club.
I can only draw parallels between my life and his. I've been a chef for 35 years. I started my apprenticeship at a beautiful country hotel. Constantly busy, winning awards, getting excellent reviews, it shaped me as a chef, but also as a person.
Imagine then if, as I qualified and rose up through the ranks, we'd been bought out and the new owners then let the hotel fall into ruin. They also employed a series of restaurant managers who all had different views on the cuisines we should serve, and they bought in their own head chefs. I'm used to cooking fresh local ingredients with a French influence. They all of a sudden want to be modern Asian restaurant. Just as I'm getting to grips with the new methods, they sack the Head Chef and employ a new one, whose background is in Italian cuisine. This continues several times. Scandinavian, Portuguese, Spanish. Every time, our food actually gets worse. Our ingredients are poor quality. The kitchen roof leaks, and the managers sack half the back of house employees. Our reviews are terrible.
I'm a loyal person, but sooner or later I'm going to get disillusioned and unmotivated. I'm going to look at my friend's London restaurant, where they cook modernly and consistently well. They offer me a new start somewhere that I don't feel is going to suck the life, and enjoyment out of my career.
I'm lying if I say I wouldn't be tempted.

I can believe he wasn't living right but I don't believe he wasn't training right though. He's probably put in a similar level of effort throughout his entire career but Amorim and him just didn't agree.
He was training alone, so he clearly was shite with an attitude problem. Laughable a handful of people here refuse to accept it even though the manager literally said it week after week.

So Amorim basically made all that up?

He was only training alone when the squad went away for a match. Otherwise, he was training with the squad throughout all that.

Watched him again for Villa coming off the bench on 65 mins. He just doesn't put the effort into it. Could even rub off on the rest of the team (apart from McGinn) as they are starting to look like utd.

I love Marcus Rashford but he just hasn`t got that dog in him when the chips are down. There`s been a lot of unfair criticism of him as not caring about United`s struggles and being a big part of the problem but he`s the type of player who would have been consistently performing in a stable United team and club of the type under Sir Alex.

He`s obviously far more of a confidence player than supporters thought, when the going got tough and tougher his form dipped and he seems to have a far more fragile mentality than anybody thought. He`s also more limited in his skill set than we thought and needs a certain way to slot in to produce his best. I don`t think Marcus deserves to be put in the category of `petulant`, `doesn`t give a feck` etc. He was proud to be homegrown and come from where he has to be part of United and part of the England team and he didn`t stop caring when he became rich financially. That`s not the problem.

He`s gone as far as he can go with United - best to get players who really have the mindset to get through this seemingly endless phase of instability at the club.
