So I guess either INEOS are giving everyone a clean slate or they are full of shite. I'm hoping they've told this cnut this was the last straw. He's never been world class, never will be. They need a proper player who will give his all and follow directions. Seriously over this muppet. He will start against Wolves and will give an awful performance. Rinse and repeat.

or maybe they are keeping things low profile so we can actually sell Rashford for a decent fee in the summer

Reading the quotes from the waitress, sounds like a guy who could use some therapy. This new contract is massive and might have just disturbed his equilibrium.

Miss Adair, however, says she got a very different impression of the striker, saying: ‘Marcus was confident but also seemed a bit shy. It’s as though he doesn’t really know who he is.

‘He gives out the vibe he thinks, ‘I’m a footballer, I’ve got loads of money and can do whatever I want’. His friends treated him like he was a god.’

If we can sell him for 80-100m to PSG we can probably get PL proven upgrades in say, Bowen or Mitoma

There is no way they are paying that for him anymore, only ones daft enough would be maybe Saudi team. Oh and Rashford stop looking for answers in the bottom of a glass

If the club is interested in protecting him he won't be in the squad for Wolves because he would then be eligible for a "random" drugs test. Long hours of binge drinking is seldom done in "isolation" of other substances and that is what particularly concerns me. I hope he isn't in the squad because that means we have chosen to try and sell him or rehabilitate him.

If he is in the squad then the club are actively not protecting him from the implications of a potential positive drugs test and may be looking to terminate his contract. I think they would also only do this if they know there is no significant interest from other clubs in taking him via a quick sale.
I don't know if I missed an episode, but is there any indication he was doing coke or anything else? Or is it just your imagination, backed up by this weird claim that you rarely binge drink without taking drugs? (completely incorrect, loads of people just drink, lots of people don't do drugs at all)

That interview from your one in the sun makes Rashford look very bad.

Man had no intention of ever going to training.

FFS. I've been on the sell Rashford camp since so long but you really can't look too much into on this nonsense article.

See, this is why reading this thread does my head in. You can criticize Rashford without claiming Bowen or Mitoma are an upgrade on him.

I'd take character assessments from a person who would sell a story to The Sun with a large pinch of salt (and a wedge of lime).

You haven't totally misunderstood but have a bit.

Eg. If you sign player x for 100m for 5 years, every year in those 5 years his value on the books goes down by 20m. So if 2 seasons later you sold him for 70m you'll get 10m profit on the books. If you sold him for 50m it'll be a 10m loss.

Then of course the wages would also factor in on the profit.

After the 5 years if you sell the player it would be classed as pure profit.

I don't fully understand it all, but that's it in simple terms

Ah yes that makes a bit more sense. I still think that the club is a bit screwed either way (keep or sell) with quite a few players who are very average (at best) and commanded huge transfer fees and wages. Still think with many of them it's best to cut losses to try to get a better mood at the club.

I mean they clearly are. They are technically superior and have far better decison making. Rashford at his absolute best is a player brightening up in moments with some sheer brilliance, but his work rate, general build up play and interchange in tight areas has always been lacking.

Rashford is a player who needs to thrive with acres of space to attack, and even then you need his mindset to be confident. The other named players are clever in tighter spaces, technically more polished and generally a lot more consistent.

What do you lot do with the money from fines?
Give it to Matic to arrange a huge night out in London in the summer. The night out gets more extravagant the more fines come in, which kind of...incentivises getting fined if your Pogba.

Have you seen our transfer budget recently? We need every penny we can get.
Fits in with the 4d chess theory. Would have been agreed to play out the charade so Rashford wouldn't have to admit he'd willingly gave up two weeks wages for the benefit of the club.

For his own good and that of the club, Narcus should not be in the squad v Wolves. Long term it’s best we sell him to PSG even if we have to take 40m to get him off the books, but for now rotate him like any other player who has to earn the right to be named to the starting XI.

What he said contradicted the club - are you serious?

A couple things here - 1) The club shot itself in the foot by trying to lie (or they were lied to by Rashford) on his escapades prior to training and 2) when the true details came to light, the club would have prepped Ten Hag on how to answer this question.

There is no way Ten Hag went rogue and said something he wasn't meant to after this delicate a situation. In fact one of the tweets from a few pages back refer to the "club line" being that it's an internal matter.

Always mate I never joke.

I think Tthe club and subsequently Ten Hag made a right mess of the situation. On the bolded part we agree in fact I think Ten Hag should be regularly prepped on how to deal with the British press.

With the way this club is run I wouldn't rule out the possibility that no one briefed Ten Hag on what to say or even thoguht of telling him what he should or shouldn't say on the matter.

You're trying to critique Ten Hag for something he never did wrong. If he said illness next question, they'll point to the photos of him clubbing the night before and he'd look like a bellend.

Well I think he did, opinions eh?

He ended up looking a bit silly anyway in my opinion. And what he did say only lead to more questions than if he'd said less.

Right anyway we disagree mate let's move on, it's a Rashford thread..

She didn't say anything outlandish.

There’s nothing to say on the pictures - so far as I’m aware no one is disputing Rashford was in a bar in Ireland Thursday night. I’ll be speaking to Marcus and have no further comment at this time would still work on follow up questions.

I’m not being overly critical though - it’s just a perception someone like Fergie might have played it down more and maybe diffused a bit of the media interest.

Indeed I don't think the press would have got anything out of Fergie on the situation.

Yeah but he had total control and very much ran the ship, ETH has as much job security as a plastic bag caught on a car bumper, flapping desperately in a bid not to go under the wheels.

True enough mate, he's probably approached the whole thing with what he thinks looks best for him in mind.

How should ETH be protecting Rashford? His nightclub exploits are all over the news.

Rashford doesn't deserve protection.

Not confirming the rumours would be a start.

Well perhaps he doens't deserve proteciton for his antics. But let's not forget the nonsense half the squad under Fergie used to get up to but he still protected them.

Rashford has to go. He has matured into an entitled brat, who's status far exceeds his professionalism, consistency, decision making and delivery.
I hold the club responsible for this. I would take 18 year old Rashford over the player we have today. Anyone who no idea what I'm talking about, go back and watch his previous performances in those days. His hunger and eagerness are unrecognisable.

If club says he's sick, Ten Hag echoes it and Rashford lays low then there's no story.

Talk about COMPLETELY missing my point. The club probably prior to realising there were pictures of Rashford out partying said he was sick. Had Rashford 'thrown a sickie' but laid low and kept a low profile at home or at a mates house this would have been a non story. But he didn't do that. He allowed himself to quite publically be filmed in an nightclub. They and Ten Hag couldn't stick to a 'he was sick' excuse because of Rashford.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure I heard he was out partying in Belfast before I heard he was too sick for training.

But regardless the club said he was too ill to train and that's it. Ten Hag should have echoed that statement and said nothing more than that. That's all I'm saying.

This is not on Ten Hag at all and your attempts to blame Ten Hag just make you sound more and more like you have an anti TH agenda. Which is fair enough but at least admit it.

Not really, I think he should be sacked but I have nothing against him personally. I just genuinely think he made a mess in his press conference, said more than he needed to and only encouraged the press.

I don't like United managers giving the press anything. The less you tell them the better in my opinion.

What? It is all over the papers - photo evidence and a girl saying he was doing shots of tequila.

I doubt Rashford is asking for protection. Only you seem to be.

She's sold her story to The Sun. Only shitheads do that.

"He was confident but shy. He seemed like he didn't know who he was". Get the feck out of here with paid psychological analysis from bar staff.
. Reads like an a-level drama piece.

So you will just believe whatever some random bartender says? Even going as far as trusting her words on judging Rashford? I want him out as much as anyone but as far as I'm concerned shes just paid to spout some nonsense and wouldn't pay much attention to any of it.

She is on camera giving the details of the night and what he said, you think his PR team woudnt be having a word if she was lying?

I'm asking seriously! Do they give it to charity? Just keep it? I know they used to pool it for a Christmas party but since wages (and therefore fines) got insane, that can't still happen.
In all seriousness, probably a combination of team activities and charity. I remember Chelsea's team rules and fines got leaked a few seasons back and the document said that's where the money would go, so can't imagine it would be too different at United.
