How can anybody, I mean anybody supporting United can watch that performance and still think he should be given a fresh start under a new manager?

Like, what is the justification for it after weeks of same disinterested performances? Would any other player get same kind of support? It's amazing how much of a pass being a local lad can buy you among the fans. Absolutely disgraceful season from Rashford, and his attitude means he should be shipped first out the door in the summer. But, folks will still disagree and back him.

He’s contributed so little this season that I wouldn’t care if he left the club for nothing. He literally offers nothing atm.

We can’t sell him if nobody will offer him the same or higher wages, because he won’t sign for them, whatever fee we agree with the buying club.
That’s why there’s no way we’re getting £40m or £50m for him (not that he was ever worth anything like that).
The price will have to be low enough for a prospective buyer to be willing to meet his wage demands.

Selling him now will save the club around £21m in wages for the next 2 years. Anything we can get for him will be a bonus on top of that saving.

I'm starting to wonder if this is a psychological thing? he's essentially been part of a squad that got a club legend sacked. So much of the last year or so he's been seen as "the hero of the British poor". Where is his head ATM? Because so much of this seems to be mentally driven.

Haha. Once the season ends, he will have a documentary or session where he will share his story of his struggle.

Similar to the Pogba thread. If it was your choice should we renew his 250k pw contract or look to sell?
A lot of fans seem split it would be interesting to see a poll added by a mod.

Neither.

Give him a chance to redeem himself next season. No freebie contracts without merit. No undeserving 'sentimental' contracts. But good old 'stick or carrot' routine.

He should be double motivated as a result; playing for his boyhood club and a chance to properly earn his new contract and a stay at his boyhood club. Elevate himself from a 'boy' to a 'man'.

If Rashford still got it, and he shows it, then we can give him a contract (not extremely excessive one though) by the end of next year.

He can at least make an effort while this team is suffering. He is the worst of a bad lot. If a geriatric like Ronaldo can run why not him as a spring chicken? All sorts of excuses for him. This is a new excuse that I have seen now. Getting a club legend sacked.

I'm questioning if this is a psychological thing and those are two big things that have happened. I'm not saying those are the reason. I'm wondering out loud

It's because of CR7. He's been a petulant child since Ronnie's been receiving all the plaudits (deservedly). That veneer of being called the golden boy for ManUtd has been wiped away due to his own selfishness and being exposed for the brainless footballer he is.

Give him a new contract, but make it 100% performance based (km run per game, defensive pressures etc.)

Wonder if he will then be arsed to show up

He's been utter shit from before Ronaldo even signed.

There is still a decent player in there somewhere. Same goes for many of our squad, the lack of coaching is exaggerating how bad this lot look. Rashford is not one of the 1st few we should ship out.

Yeah it's all the coaches fault

Sell him for 40m-50m. That amount is enough to sign for quality replacement and not only that, we could actually replace him with someone of twice less wages than rashford. It’s like a no brainer decision. Come on PSG and do the right thing when the offer comes United.

I thought he grew up a Manchester fan, shouldn’t need incentives.

Happy to see how he gets on after a summer with ETH.

What are you happy about?

You think he'll find his inner Messi under a new manager?

I think he'll revert to his level and be just as shit

Sticking with shams like him has to stop

Sell him for anything above 15mil I no longer care. Don't you even think about giving him a new contract Murtough and Arnold.

He's just scored over 20 goals two seasons in a row before this one. There's clearly a player in there who can contribute, the whole squad this season have been awful (bar maybe 2 players).

The issue is we're losing Cavani, Lingard, Martial, Mata, Greenwood this summer.

Our first team attacking options for next season are Rashford, Ronaldo and Sancho for the front 3 positions. We have absolutely no depth. We should really have 6 players competing for the front 3 spots. ETH will have to see if he fancies the likes of Elanga/Amad, but realistically we already need to be planning on signing 2 new attackers this summer, and that's assuming Rashford stays. I wouldn't be massively against selling Rashford under the right circumstances, but the circumstances realistically couldn't be any worse than this summer, we have no attacking players left.

Something is clearly off, mentally, physically, whatever else. We ran him in to the ground the last couple of seasons, ruined his world cup for him and then thank him by calling him shit week in week out. He's been absolutely horrendous this season and his attitude has been even worse but he's still an academy lad and I think he deserves a chance to redeem himself. I'm just not ready to give up on all the good moments because of one bad season.

He's clearly in the toxic crowd of Pogba, Lingaard, Martial etc

Sulking because his mates are getting moved on

We didn't ruin anything for him.

This club made him a worldwide super star millionaire overnight after he was looking like he'd never make the first team.

He took advantage and has been milking his earlier 20s purple patch well into his mid-20s, citing youth or other some such nonsense.

I am seeing the same delusion on here (thankfully a lot less nowadays) I was seeing with Lingard and being a young player. Same with Scott 'rugby player' McTominay.

These guys are in their football and physical prime and yet they're the perennial hopes of tomorrow. Just move on.

Let him work with ETH then if he isnt up to standard according to the manager then he can be sold.

It's a lovely plan but it requires a club willing to pay 40 mil plus pick up his 200 large a week. There are not very many clubs that slot into that description. Please don't say Newcastle fit the bill cause they ain't buying every flop in the league.

I literally just mentioned PSG on the post you quoted. Did you not read the whole post?

Awful season and a half. Shame as I think there's a quality player in there but is it for us? Honestly I can't see it :(

Sell where? To who? I don't see acceptable sums coming in, we can't keep stating that Newcastle are going to buy everyone. I can imagine people sneering at that and replying that 5 million would be acceptable, but realistically he's on ludicrous amounts of money which dictates where he can go and the club will not view him as somebody to boot out the backdoor for a couple of mill.

Reminds me of Martial. We had heaps saying sell and we'll get X amount that was totally out of kilter with his form and desirability in terms of investment for a buying side. What happened...we pretty much had to beg a side to take him on loan and all sensible observers were telling people about this and to put the computer game away. Just because Marcus has handed out some school dinners doesn't mean someone is coming in heavy for him.

Nope, our only hope is ETH gets a hold of Marcus and whips him into something approaching shape. Then sell when his stock is at least climbing.
PSG or Newcastle

I wonder what will happen with him. Also think it might not be so easy to sell him.

ETH might be interested in getting more out of him, but I get the sense he won’t be into his players having too much stuff on the side like Rashford does. Also think he’ll see Rashford’s limitations and will want to narrow him down tactically, maybe use him as a sub a lot of the time. I don’t see Rashford liking either of those situations with his ego and his belief that he’s a better player than he really is.

Sell him for whatever we can get and even if it's 20 million we will be getting one over on the buyer.
