Rashford considering his future...

Fair enough he wants to stay, and he's obviously not as atrocious as he's been this season, but that "improved" bit is crazy. He's absolutely not deserving of a higher wage when he's been by far our worst player this season.

Again, no direct quotes from Rashford. It's entirely possible that this tweet is pure fabrication.

People should at least consider that before they jump all over the lad.

We've seen it with Martial, he thinks he's way better than he is, too good for United so leaves for Sevilla, probably with a view of them being a stepping stone to Real or Barca, only to be hit with reality - the reality being that he's absolutely shite, and Sevilla are too good for him.

:lol::lol::lol:

Agree. I think getting decent money for MR and his wages off the bill will help United start moving on from where they are now. A new contract should be totally out of the question so better to take some money now.

When people are talking about him getting chance after chance, what exactly are you referring to?

As atrocious as he has been this season, this is his first poor season. Just last season we were constantly putting off a much needed operation because he was deemed indispensable. I'm not defending his performances or attitude this season but this suggestion that he has flattered to deceive season after season is just not true. Short-term memory?

This guy is a great example that homegrown english players “love or understand the club” is just a myth nowadays. In recent seasons, they are just overpaid and overrated “assets” who are hard to get rid of.

What would you suggest we do, bin the academy and pump all our resources into overseas players? Can you even remember the last time we recruited a non-English/homegrown player that turned out to be an unequivocal success?

Our recruitment has been shocking across the board for many now. Failure after failure, English and foreign players alike.

Dont think either of these are even considered newspapers in England. Correct me if i am wrong.

His PR team constantly feed information to top tier journalists. Its coming to a point that we need to assess whether his football contribution even at his best is good enough to tolerate that

Personally dont agree. He was good last season the injury put off as was there wasnt other players available to play there. If you go back to LVG and Mourinho, he had great spells and lots of periods of "is he a left winger or a striker?" it wasnt really quite working in either position, lets not forget he and Matial were often fighting for the same spot and neither of them nailing it down and often frustrating.

For me the "flattering to decieve" is kind of true, not decieving in that he has been rubbish (bar this season) as you are right he hasnt. More a case of he broke through as a shining star and the media, PR, fans have all built him out to be a world class star.....and he never was, he is a talented player and a godo player, but certainly not a great player, there are several overtaken him in the England squad and that isnt just due to form, they are better players (we are blessed of course at the moment internationally in that regard) but there are also lots of younger playres in Europe who have a higher ceilign I feel (of coruse the grass isnt always greener).

He is probably the most valuable player behinf Fernandes we have at the moment even with his contract running down, thats why, especialy with his apparent disharmony, selling him seems a good move for me at least this summer, before he becomes the next player leaving free when we could have got a good fee for him beforehand. A new contract at te moment shouldnt even be a consideration....unless of course we wish to prove LVH right, being a commercial club

The same reports come out every time we get a new manager. I remember seeing the same with rangnick, that he was excited and ready to prove himself.

Him and his team know that without utd he doesn't have the same effect off the field

Hit the nail on the head.

His PR put more effort into getting the club to offer him a new deal than he does on the pitch.

He’s considering his options
His phone is ringing off the hook
PSG are desperate for him
He’s open to stay if he gets improved contact

It’s all bollocks and offensive given his dire attitude these last few months that would have seen Fergie sell him to Everton months ago before his feet could touch the ground

At a time when we are going to be clearing out 8/9/10+ players, it won’t be surprising at all if the club have no intention of letting Rashford go and I expect ten Hag to be absolutely fine with that. He will have seen what Rashford has been capable of in the past and will be keen to see if he can get him back to that level. Failing that he will remain a backup and push for a move and we will get a transfer fee.

I don’t think Rashford has half the capital right now he thinks he has and the club will hopefully recognise that when they offer him a new deal.

It's this kind of thinking which has landed us in the trouble we are in. We keep rewarding players who have performed poorly, with more game time.
At MCFC for example, they got rid of Aguero - a player who didn't even have a bad season. They got rid of Kompany and David Silva. None of these players had a bad season, but it was predicted that they were now on the decline so needed to be shipped out.

We, on the other hand, wait for a player to have multiple bad seasons before shipping him out.
Rashford needs to leave asap. He has had 1.5 bad seasons and that is simply unacceptable.

but the point is, although I am open to being wrong, is that I don’t think the guy has declined in that same way. He strikes me as someone who’s got some sort of mental block.

Even when he had bad games, he’d chase the ball and fight. Which isn’t the case now. He’s simply not showing the same interest

If ETH can change his attitude, Like the top managers do, there’s still potential for a superb player. Rashford wins points, scores last minute goals, he’s a match winner and I wouldn’t give up on that without a season under the current manager

No he wasn’t that good previous seasons either. People were making excuses for him in 2020.

The short term memory issues affect those who somehow have become convinced he was a world beating talent ever. For a 18 month period he looked like he had potential but he was nowhere close to the finished article or even a top level player.

He looked like he might be something at some point but that’s never materialised. Red-tinted glasses because of his upbringing, accent and charity work has meant people are convinced at one point he was top class. He really wasn’t. He’s 24 and his peak as a footballer was ‘hot prospect’ and we need to go back to 2018 or 2019 when he was at that level.

Except he isn’t suited to ETH’s football at all. Even at his best Rashford has always been really poor when we are on the front foot attacking teams who are defending deep.

I think it’s a nonsense fabrication from the Mirror which set all this discussion off. It may well be that Rashford gets a new contract. But for me if that is the case it is just more of the same from the club, especially if he gets a pay rise.

It makes no sense to sell him.

It also makes no sense to offer him a new deal at this point, even offering an extension with the same wages would be absurd. He has two more years on his current contract. If he continues performing like he has for the past 16 months and we've extended his contract, we'll struggle a lot to offload him as no one is going to come close to what he's currently on and no one is going to fork up much of a transfer fee either.

He’s been rubbish for 3 years , it’s just he can’t even get a goal or assist this season and he’s no stats to deviate from the fact that he’s been performing like rubbish for a while now

Yeah, he scored 17 Premier League goals two years ago without being a striker in many games and last year broke the 20 goal barrier (all competitions) again while playing with a crippling injury the entire season. He was also indisputably one of our most important players during both those seasons. But sure, he's been rubbish for three years.

Hag will suss him out very fast. Over hyped and not interested in football anymore. He'll be forgotten at Utd soon or sold. Along with quite a few of the first team.

It's strange hoe certain players are given so many excuses or so much time. He's not just been poor but he looks 100% un-interested when he does play. If that was any other player he would have been kicked into the reserves years ago. It's where Utd have gone wrong since Fergie left. We give sub standard players far too much leeway.

If he wasn’t English and saving the world he would have been moved on this summer

What crippling injury he had last year? That was just before Covid, IIRC. Yeah he scored 20 goals in 57 appearances. Not exactly what you expect from one of the highest earners in the world. He was not bad, but not great either. He was decent, but he went missing in the big games (Liverpool, Sevilla, Villarreal). He was not good enough for a team competing for the league in the past, he is definitely not good enough now. And he will never be.

He strikes me as someone who’s got some sort of mental block.

I agree. IMO its probably due to the injury he carried, was he forced to play on by Ole and the club, or was it his own idea, "I can play through this to help out and to make sure I get my place in the Euro squad". Either way, perhaps it was a bit of both, who knows; then there was the racist abuse he suffered after the Euro's, all of this is playing in his head. If you then add the shock of CR's return, which should have helped him, but probably lowered his confidence even further.

His head is definitely not in the right place. I have yet to see him even attempt what was once his 'party piece', the speedy take on the half turn, when he left defenders for dead. He may have tried this and I missed it, but I can't remember him doing this at all this season!

But his form this season and the latter half of last season don't scream 'new and improved' contract, the lad and his team speak like they are doing United a favour by demanding a longer and more lucrative contract that his performances haven't earned. This line of thinking is the root of player power that has engulfed this club, he should be thinking about proving himself worthy to stay at the club and the mere fact that he is deluded enough to think that he is in a position to dictate terms shows how and why we now nothing more than a banter club more concerned with social media engagements than goals and trophies.

If Barcelona’s interest is true, sell him.

Sell Martial and Rashford, so it can give us additional funds to get Anthony, Nunez and Nkunku.
The Barca interest was true 2 years ago when they were linked with every good up and coming talent in world football. His PR team are still using this interest to this day even though there's no way in a million years Barca would go anywhere near him with the form he's produced since then. The same as PSG. And Liverpool

Has this been commented on yet? It seems they’re more bothered about giving their shirts to Arsenal fans than their own fans. This feels like an action of someone who’s leaving with his mate, because he’s not doing himself any favours with the fans.

Not sure. Do fans really care about this stuff these days?

Couldn't care less who he gives his shirt to. I'm more concerned that he's currently a terrible footballer and offers nothing of value to the team

I like Rashford as a person because by all accounts he is a nice lad. He's having a bad time atm but so are so many other players. I can't believe that anyone actually believed he would leave the club. He's from Wythenshawe and isn't stupid.

Is he a nice lad? He plays like he can’t be arsed and within hours of being thrashed in the derby where his contribution was a disgrace the minions under his charge were leaking to any source that would listen that his phone hasn’t stopped ringing with offers

I dunno I think whoever is head of his PR team deserves a fecking knighthood. Player virtually downed tools for last few months on one of the highest salaries at the club.

“Nice lad”. They do a world class job

After Bruno contract bs, if we reward him and Shaw with new contract after this season then we havent learnt our lesson

His PR team and agent aren't stupid. They'll milk this club for everything they can.

To be honest I'm not arsed. I used to be under the impression that he was arrogant but apparently he is a genuinely nice lad off the field and this is what I've heard from people who actively dislike/d him. He is playing terribly at the moment and rightfully so deserves to be hung drawn and quartered.

They probably couldn’t get any United fans to accept.

How come Danny Weldbeck hates us? I have read anything towards this account. He asked to leave and we let him leave.

He needs to go….He is a prime example of where the club is so wrong….250k a week for a mediocre player like him? And talks of an improved contract,??????

Mane, Jota, Diaz all make half or less…

Kane, Salah, Son are on 200k after years of being proven great players….And if they now get 300-400k for next contracts, it’s completely worth it as they deserve it…

He lacks two most important basics…. Hard work, Character…..

I am sorry, along with Pogba and Lingard…. He has to be the first to be sold off!!

Why do you feel the need to lie? He loves the club and left for a multitude of reasons.
