Raphinha | Barca player

Wonder what Liverpool want him for after already signing Diaz.
He was probably the other choice if they couldn't get a deal for Diaz? Plus with Salah not looking close to signing an extension, might be looking at him as a replacement?

They've probably identified Raphinia as an option if Salah doesn't agree a new deal.

Raphinha is going to be elite within a few years, has all the attributes needed. Too good for Leeds.

I wonder how high up the list a left footed right winger will be for us this summer. I fear we won't get around to it - a striker, a new DM, and another CB appear to be the positions of highest priority for us it would seem. Even after those three it might be another central midfielder to replace Pogba.

Top player.

Unfortunately he'll go to Liverpool when Salah leaves. That'll be the long term replacements sorted for Mane and Salah.

Antony could come here if we get ETH.

Wouldn’t mind Hannibal getting a chance in Pogba’s role. He’ll be 20 next season, that’s old enough for mens footy.

I'd be quite happy if Liverpool replaced Salah with this guy, I mean sure he's a decent player but that's about it..

I definitely wouldn't be mad at it. I think we've been on the same wavelength about having one of that profile of central midfielder in the side.

Absolutely. And I think the timing seems to be aligning regarding Hannibal and the fact we need to spend elsewhere. Just let him play.

I'd have thought they'd rather go for that Carvalho lad, maybe they're planning for losing both Mane and Salah but keeping Firmino for another year or two?

Have seen very little of Leeds so don't know much about him. Is he better then Mahrez?

He's already a very good player, but could become real class. He'd be amazing in the current LFC side.
I'd love him at United - just what we need on the RW
If i remember correctly he lost possession very often. It is a very high number.

He is a bit too emotional, his reaction to failure is too pronounced. I think Utd would be better signing someone a bit cooler.

That’s true his possession stats aren’t good, but he tries killer passes a lot and has a great work rate when he does lose it.

I reckon we will have a minimum of 4 incomings, the rest will depend on players coming back from loans and player sales.
Matic, Mata, Cavani,Jones and Lingard will be gone 100%.
Pogba, Donny, Henderson and Martial are also very likely to leave.
My guess is we will make 5 signins and promote Shoretire and Hannibal to the first team on a regular basis.

Always looked a good player, makes things happen and often time this is a requirement when dealing with two banks of four. The doubtful uncertainty over Greenwood should open the door for this acquisition.

How's his shooting? Like, can we see him becoming a proper goalscorer forward?

I’d imagine he’s our intended Salah replacement if he’s sold this summer or chooses to run down his contract and walk in eighteen months.

Diaz was bought to replace mane and play as a left sided inverted winger, jota as firmino’s immediate replacement and I suspect carvalho will be signed to develop as a firmino style false 9 to provide an alternative up front with the ability to play as the left sided player in a midfield 3 too.

There is a very distinct profile to the players being scouted to ensure they fit the position/role they’re bought for - Diaz was as close to a mane replacement as there is around in terms of skillset.

Having said that I wouldn’t be surprised if we skipped on raphinha entirely, picked up Antony this summer and allowed salah to run down his contract allowing Antony a year to adapt to the role and lining him up as salah’s successor in 2023-4.

His ceiling is much higher than raphinha’s, he’d be £25m cheaper and I could see him being developed into producing at least peak mane impact/numbers over a couple of years or three. It’s more the sort of thing we’d do.

Reminds me of the Mane to Liverpool signing, where we were linked, everyone could see he was class but ultimately we opted for the player with a "higher ceiling" in Mkhitaryan and ended up losing out on a proven Premier League performer with room to improve. Guaranteed that's what happens again and we end up with some has been looking for a pay raise.
