Raphinha | Barca player

for me the bigger mystery is why he was so bad to begin with for barca.

Better manager who uses him to his strengths probably. Bit like with our wide players, hopefully the next manager can raise their levels.

It's easy to say now, I know, but I always thought he was a very valuable player for any squad, even the very best ones. Even at his worst he was a very good player to have, maybe not a as permanent starter, but as an excellent 12th or 13th player. Always contributes, runs back and offers a lot of oxygen to the team. Now he's added bordering on WC attacking performances to that, he's comfortably one of the 15-20 best players in the world at the moment.

Would never have thought that he had this sort of level to his game to be honest, Flick has him playing at a ridiculous level.

Yamal gets more hype because he's the new kid in town, but Raphinha has clearly been Barcelona's most influential player this season. He played well even during Barca's rough patch in the league. Fantastic G/A tally coupled with a seriously impressive workrate on and off the ball. Unplayable at the moment.

For me it's between him and Salah for the best player in the world this season.

i hope Antony is watching his rise and think/ work towards doing the same. It wasn't too long ago that they were both more or less the same level

I can't believe we sold this guy to Rennes for peanuts. Atrocious transfer.

They spent the last two summers trying to flog him off

Fair play to him. When he left Leeds I thought he was good but not as good as he's been this season. Having a Ballon d'Or worthy season which is some rise.

I've said it in the Salah thread as well, if Barcelona pull put a cl win the ballon d'or will be between him and yamal.

Barcelona's offensive stats this season has been extrodinary, on par with their best 2010s seasons.

Flick shifted him to a more central position, which gave his career a second life. He's a prime example of how a competent manager can get the most out of a player (and a team, by extension).

On a side note, talks of Ballon d'Or are absolutely preposterous. He should never be considered as a contender. If ths guy wins it ahead of Yamal, then football's truly gone to shit.
