I don't think Varane will handle the pressure of competing with Jones for the second CB spot.

This is the one deal i want completed before preseason, so he can start working with Our Captain ASAP, for both of them to form a good partnership they've got to have the same drive and goal, i don't know if Ole pull out some of SAF old tricks like making a wager with players, i do recall SAF doing that with Ronnie and Rio, we need our player to be up for the challenge the coming season.
Varane is a fabulous Defender I've watch him so many time over the last decade his level in most games are 8/10 add that to Maguire, Shaw, and Wan Bi, i think that'll be a hell of a combo moving forward. Get it done Woody!!

Does start to look as if this will get over the line. I hope it's the right choice but I am yet to be convinced. Of course Varane is good, I'm just not sure he is fast enough (given Maguire is not exactly The Flash) and not 100% sure he will fit into the PL quickly. Part of me thinks Pau Torres is a better choice and Varane didn't exactly excel at the Euros

Net means after tax. So in order for him to get £12m net after the taxman takes his cut, we have to pay more than £12m.
If we don’t get this guy and lose Pogba this summer it would finish the window on a real downer for me.

Don't know how you did your calculations but no way it's £290,000 pw.
I even rounded it down to £350,000. True figure is upwards £360,000. Anyway I am sure the figure is with bonuses included and might not be his true salary.
Fine if you think Varane is not suited to the PL but Torres even more so. We’d be very foolish to buy another Lindelof. One is enough thanks

It's just peak Caf. Why sign a world class CB that's one of the most decorated in the game when we can spend £20m more and sign a player that we don't even know can play at the highest level but has "potential" to be as good as Varane.

Personally don’t think he should be paid more than Maguire, he should be matched up with him and take it or leave it.

He’s our captain, and our best defender, obviously it’s not my decision but that’s the line I’d draw personally. However you’re completely right, I just don’t want us to have too many players on insane wages (if he does come on 250k a week id obviously be delighted, it ain’t my money).
