Not sure Ancelotti has much say in the matter tbh. Varane wants to double his wage, Madrid (seemingly) don't want to pay it which is why we are where we are now.

I think they will deal at 55 million Euros. I reckon they'd probably seriously consider 50 million as well, depending on how urgently they need the cash. If we pay more up front in a 50 million deal, they may take that rather than have to wait many years to get the full 55 million.

I guess you’re right and money is probably the driving factor here. But if Anceotti believes Varane could be important, he might be able to push some buttons. If he is of the beliefs that they need to invest in other areas, he will probably prefer to sell.
This is why I think a lot of the Spanish press are saying “Varane wants this completed this week” to heap the pressure on United to get it closed early rather than wait until the end of the window when the pressure will be heaped back on Real.

Depends how strongly we feel about getting a really low amount, to me if this whole dance was being done for 50mill euro’s there would be others throwing their hat into the ring.
Hopefully it is 50mill but if I had to bet my house on it I’d go closer to 60mill as my best guess.

Only there won’t be because Varane has made it clear that United is his destination so there is no point in anyone else trying to step in. In fact, you can guarantee they already tried. PSG and Chelsea for starters will have been enquiring to his agent for sure.

I just can’t see this signing happening for as low as 50 million. They can’t be that skint if they are signing Mbappe and likewise their centre back pair will be shite without him, it’s a lose-lose for Madrid. Hopefully that’s the case.
