With all the gold in this thread, shouldn’t the title be updated? Full Moon? No Red Flag in sight etc etc.
 
We've gone from 'everything agreed, announcement imminent' to 'nothing agreed, details to be finalised' in the last few days.

A few more days and we'll be at the 'monitoring the situation' stage :lol:

You could just not enter the transfer forum and wait for signings to appear on the United website.

I'm not saying they think/he is rubbish, but they have probably earmarked a replacement that is as good/better and will see a transaction that makes them a profit. Meanwhile our fans get giddy over the whole thing like I've seen countless times (every transfer) over the years. Yet when you question a signing or say that they're perhaps not as good as people seem to make out, you get pelters for it. And they are the ones that have ended up with egg on their faces more often than not these last 8-9 years yet still don't want to hear it.

Like I said earlier you can bend it but these are the players Madrid have let go that had nothing such as what you said in bold:

Seedorf, Robben, Sniejder, Di Maria, Ozil.

Robben is the only regret. He was thought replaced by Cristiano Ronaldo.
 
You could clearly see in the interview after the Derby match that Ole was keen on bringing in Varane when his name was mentioned. He's been at United long enough to remember when we had those rock solid CB partnerships and how often they led to winning titles and trophies.
 
The more this is happening the more it looks like pogba is staying to me.

Basically he will stay at Madrid if they pay him more than they have offered and he will leave if they don't (probably) to us (possibly) this transfer window (maybe).

So it's down to Madrid's accountants, nobody else.

At this stage, apart from our bid being accepted, what new news can there be? The Spanish journos and Romano have already established that personal terms won't be an issue and it's just a matter of agreeing on a fee with Real. Varane himself wants to leave. The English journos are also slowly cottoning on to the same. So there's not much left to say until our bid actually goes in and gets accepted. So you will see the same recycled stuff until then.

This isnt true, even in the slightest.
 
The next meaningful update should be when Madrid accept our bid and both clubs closing the deal. Anything else other than that is white noise. I would also think we will have already a rough estimation of what Madrid wants so this should be done fairly quickly and Varane should be a United player by early next week

Honestly, my impression is that he'd prefer us even if they match what we are offering. He actively wants a new challenge, we're a club who he came close to joining a decade ago, Rio was one of his main idols, it just seems like it's going to happen unless something surprising comes up. For him to stay Real would have to beat our wage offer by quite a bit IMO, which isn't going to happen. I think I might be more worried about City or Chelsea coming in, but I would hope all the ground work we've done would give us the edge anyway.

It's very likely that Varane will be world class for United.
I would rather keep him then sell him.

Doesn't really matter because it's all just a ploy to get 1.5m a week at Madrid. They will fund it from shirt sales once the NYSE opens.

Plus image rights and a shirt sales bonus which takes it to £1m plus appearances rated at £250k per game so long as he plays >60mins.

Yes most likely Miliato-Alaba will be the centerbacks.
We have Valejo and Nacho as backups. Nacho is decent. Valejo is injury prone and not proven at this level.
Hopefully we will go out and buy Kounde or someone else. If(When) Varane leaves there will not be enough quality in the current squad.

It’s a good thing FIFA are changing the rules to 30 minutes halves then. That will save us a few quid.
