Always thought Lacroix from Wolfsburg plays a lot like him. Wouldn’t cost a fortune either
He was available and in the match day squad for around 70-75% of games this season.
Do you happen to know how that compares to our other CBs?
Playing once a week for most of the season helps with that. And defence is where you want the least disruption really. He was available and in the match day squad for around 70-75% of games this season.

If he took a big pay cut and we signed a starting RCB then I'd love to keep him.
Yeah but is Varane's fitness record we're talking about here? That was basically the whole squad from Xmas onwards.

The point I'm making is the evidence over the last 24 months shows he struggles staying fit when having to play more than once a week now.
Again, I'd keep him for the league and have a different Europa League defence. But I'm probably being irrational, I've always loved Varane.
Varane's fitness issues have little to do with his age, his whole career is littered with injury problemsFair enough, that benefits most players once they get over 30 though.
He has a 40m euro release clause I think, wouldn't be a bad shout.Always thought Lacroix from Wolfsburg plays a lot like him. Wouldn’t cost a fortune either

United didn't take up the 1 year option so his contract expired, one can assume that he either didn't want to stay or wasn't prepared to take a big pay cutIs he leaving because we didn't offer him a new contract, or because he didn't want to renew? Not seen any reference to this anywhere

Not really, it depends on what is causing the injuries, changing training methods or adapting how you play is probably more effectiveBut playing once a week does tend to help players over 30 stay fit, avoid injury and be available for more games yes?

More a case of you're too expensive for what you're availbe for, when he's fit Varane is a very good CB,Thanks! I suppose as a player, that's pretty much being told you aren't needed
