He’s an absolute Rolls Royce of a defender.. hardly ever put a foot wrong for us.

A very good last game of his Manchester United period. When he is fit he is still a very good defender. Too bad he isnt fit half of the time.

Big signing fee, huge wages and a lot of injuries without much team succes but atleast he ended it well.

When fit he's important especially in big games. His leadership at the back is clear to see.

A colossus of a performance that Zeus himself would admire. Never a foot put in wrong, always class with and without the ball. He will be missed.

Still a world class defender, shame the injuries prevent it from being put on show more often

Put in a classic Varane performance today. If it wasn’t for the injuries I would happily keep him at the club.

He is world class. His quality was never in doubt. It's just his body is letting him down.

So happy we're giving him the send off he deserves. Such an incredible player. He'll be sorely missed next session.

FA cup Varane! Such a great performance. Leader at the back. His replacement is the priority in this window.

World class defender, great person, still quite young, so surprised his body let him down this season and last season.

He's still top class. You saw how our performance changed with both him & Martinez as CBs. Lindelöf, Maguire etc. should go before him.

I understand the injury concerns but still, we should definitely keep him imo and will regret that if we don't. He's too good to let go. We should be more clever with this.

He's not 35 or something; just turned 31 a month ago. With the European money coming in I'm sure we can find a solution with a new contract with him. Make him change his mind.

Gonna miss him, as others have said, Rolls Royce defender, truly one of the greats and proud to have watched him play for this shirt!

Not many better when he's fully fit. Still, we can't justify massive wages for someone who misses most of the season.

Still young enough to stay and contribute. Him and martinez really are a great pairing, who knows where we'd be if they'd stayed fit all season

You cant rely on him though, damn shame

Still think it’s a bad decision to let him go
If you could do pay as your fit contract be a no brainier for one more season. I’d like Amrabat on loan for one more season and get rid of Eriksen. Obviously we need a new CM and CB in the summer

Only fit half the time, and when he plays, only plays to his max potential half the time. But capable of being outstanding.

If we had a good squad, we'd be able to use him sparingly, bit like Real do with Modric. But that's not us right now. We need to focus on our first team, filling it with robust, reliable performers who stay off the treatment table. Right decision for him to go, and a nice way to do it.

What a great way to finish his United career. Top CB but unfortunately too injury-prone to rely on him. Shame.

It is just our luck. We had one of best defenders of this generation who we could not use at his best.

I wonder is his decision to leave or it is club's decision to not offer him a new contract.
@kouroux , you could know this maybe?

A great man for the big moments. Leaving the club in style. One of the best defenders to ever play for the club ability-wise, only showed it in short spurts so won't be remembered as so, but a quality defender.

I will really miss him.
massively, is it just me or does anyone else get the impression he loved the club probably more than RM. He seemed to realise that these are real fans, die hard and supported him and the team even in dire circumstance. unlike RM where they literally turn on you for a bad half game FFS. He just seemed to be very emotional about leaving.

From previous interviews I got the impression that he supported United when he was younger. I could be wrong but thats the impression I got.

I'm really sad about him leaving because I really think next season we are gonna have huge problems without him around. Hes one of those rare players thats a leader and a winner (multiple champions leagues, world cup, etc) with an elite winners mentality. You need those in the dressing room. Reading the comments over the season here people seem to forget that.

He also sacrificed playing for France to keep playing for us. I think a lot people here have overlooked that.
