I wont be fussed if he is gone this summer
Thats what they say not what he doesJust incredibly untrue. Varane isn’t in his pomp anymore but is still an elite box defender b
TBF, he's barely missed any of this season to injury. He was benched for ages for no reason. On 340,000 per week, signed for £42m and now 30 years old.
2021/22 - 22 Premier League games
2022/23 - 24 Premier League games
2023/24 - 19 Premier League games so far and injured once again.
Bravo, Man United.
I wouldn't say 'no reason'.TBF, he's barely missed any of this season to injury. He was benched for ages for no reason.
Is that behind every Brentford player?Hope he stays. My MOTM vs. Brentford.
Took a knock not long before half time and true to form he didn’t make it back out. Whether that was a precaution or more I’m not sure. No chance it was tactical, he was our best defender in the first half.Did he get a knock or was he substituted? The commentary team seemed to imply that him and Lindelof had knocks. For Lindelof it was obvious less so with him.
That sounds terrible and like he should be putting his health first. Jeff Astle amongst many from the 60's and 70's whose brains showed effects of CTE should be stark warning; this mightn't be NFL or boxing, but repeated head trauma is proven to be devastating in this sport too.https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...ncussion-Man-United-Man-City-horror-show.html
This doesn't sound like he's having much fun to me. Sounds like he should be taking a leaf out of Angus Brayshaw's book and calling it a day.
He stole to Man of the Match award, but it was petty theft.Hope he stays. My MOTM vs. Brentford.
I would suggest playing football to the point where you give yourself a brain injury probably means you love playing.Has there ever been another team assembled with so many players who seem to fecking hate playing football?
Literally says what he wants in the article. What does he want? Heading the ball is part of football. Or does he want the rules to chance?
The dangers of headers need to be taught on all amateur football pitches and to young people.
...and if he decides to push for a change in the rules then good for him. If my job was giving me a permanent brain injury I'd push for change too. Wouldn't you?No matter how much the player says he wants to play, the medical staff have to veto it, because it puts players’ lives at risk

Football is a game. The rules can change, and discovering that the old rules are contributing to brain damage for the players is about the best reason for change I can imagine.
I say this regularly on here; many a sportsperson are their own worst enemy in terms of looking after themselves and the perception that you’re weak or letting others down is toxic machismo propagated by names as renowned as Mourinho who couldn’t care less for players and their health over the results he needs. No matter how much the player says he wants to play, the medical staff have to veto it, because it puts players’ lives at risk
I have said the same thing. I will always blame managers and medical staff for putting players on a team sheet or overplaying them. They are the ones that can easily protect athletes.I say this regularly on here; many a sportsperson are their own worst enemy in terms of looking after themselves and the perception that you’re weak or letting others down is toxic machismo propagated by names as renowned as Mourinho who couldn’t care less for players and their health over the results he needs.

Rashford, Martial and Pogba under Mourinho/OleI have said the same thing. I will always blame managers and medical staff for putting players on a team sheet or overplaying them. They are the ones that can easily protect athletes.
As valid as it is from a safety point of view, the trouble for contact sports like Football, Rugby, American Football, Boxing, MMA... is, it's not just a tweak of the rules, which is always happening. It's changing a massive part of the whole essence of those contact sports.Literally says what he wants in the article.

One of Varane’s suggestions is to limit heading in training to a bare minimum, which to me sounds sensible. A big part of the problem is the sheer number of micro-concussions over the span of a career. As valid as it is from a safety point of view, the trouble for contact sports like Football, Rugby, American Football, Boxing, MMA... is, it's not just a tweak of the rules, which is always happening. How do you keep Football recognisable without aerial challenges and heading? That's just 'no over head height' stuff. How do you keep Rugby and American Football pretty recognisable without Tackling? That's just Tick Rugby. And where do you start with Boxing and MMA? Helmets, like in the Amateurs?
I definitely acknowledge the potential health issues, and we live in an era where that's only going to get ever more significance. But I don't see how you continue those sports close to their current format if you genuinely address the problem? As it all involves such fundamental aspects of the contact sports.
Agree but for pure fantasy's sake, imagine football without any aerial play?As valid as it is from a safety point of view, the trouble for contact sports like Football, Rugby, American Football, Boxing, MMA... is, it's not just a tweak of the rules, which is always happening. That's just Tick Rugby. And where do you start with Boxing and MMA? Helmets, like in the Amateurs, I guess? But that still leaves those brutal sports with many dangerous possibilities for short / long term health issues.

I seem to remember that there is no proof that rugby helmets are useful for concussions. The main benefit in Rugby is to limit friction during scrums and avoid cauliflower ears. I could be wrong but the reason is that the padding isn't big enough and the brain is similarly banged against your skull. One of Varane’s suggestions is to limit heading in training to a bare minimum, which to me sounds sensible. Another solution could be mandatory Cech-like helmets.
I saw earlier that he’s ruled himself out for the remainder of the season due to concussion. Probably bollocks though.Do we know if he's injured?
Nah he just did an interview on it.I saw earlier that he’s ruled himself out for the remainder of the season due to concussion. Probably bollocks though.
Ah, I did find it weird that it wasn’t mentioned on here. This place is the fastest place for breaking news.Nah he just did an interview on it.
Misquote. He said he previously ruled himself out of games this season due to concussion symptoms, not that he's ruled himself out of the rest of the season.Ah, I did find it weird that it wasn’t mentioned on here. This place is the fastest place for breaking news.
Probably better concussion protocols and less heading at youth level like many have previously suggested anywayWhat does he want? Heading the ball is part of football. Or does he want the rules to change?
It was Ole. Under Mourinho their injury records were fine.Rashford, Martial and Pogba under Mourinho/Ole
