Pretty sure he’s been prone to regular-ish injuries throughout his career tbh.Was he injury prone at Real Madrid? Don't really follow them except in UCL.
Who would line up next to Ramos on those days?

He injured his groin playing for France. A grade 1 hip adductor strain is usually 2-3 weeks out. The Spurs game was exactly 3 weeks after the injury.
Seems as though he injured a different muscle last night anyway. Being reported as a hamstring injury.
I'm sure you well know the hip adductor is right next to the hamstring and practically part of the same group of muscles, and if it's not fully recovered the body will shift some of the workload onto those neighbouring muscles.
Given Ole's history and the fact that this keeps happening to our players it's right to ask the question.
From my own personal and anecdotal experience with recurrent adductor injuries, they rely more on the abdominal muscles for support than the hamstrings. After several adductor strains one summer, my abdominal muscles later became strained as well because they were compensating for the injured adductor and after too much effort they gave out. During this time the hamstring never felt overworked or gave me any problems despite regularly attmepting to play football and competing in a couple of charity runs. Some of that may be my own physiology but the doctor who treated me noted that the abs did most of the heavy lifting when the adductor was injured.
Who makes these decisions?
He really is a Rio Ferdinand regen, injuries and all.
Bad luck with the timing unfortunately, but let's hope it's only a small strain and he stopped before it got worse.
It takes a hell of a lot to strain an abdominal muscle though. A hamstring, not so much. And you said yourself it's not an immediate thing, you went about normally for a whole summer until the related strain showed up.
Plus we don't know which adductor muscle was injured or which hamstring muscle is injured now.
Just because it's not the same injury, doesn't mean rushing back didn't contribute. Players need time to get holistic fitness back after an injury layoff.
God fecking damn it all it's just so typical. First time in decade we sign an absolute monster CB and already he's getting plagued by injuries. It was all too good to be true.
We just cannot get a break...
Also annoying he got injured playing for France rather than UnitedIt’s shame he’s been injured for the most part so far with Cavani. Hopefully he’s back soon as he should be key in our pressing game holding that high line and being aggressive with the strikers.

Is there any update on him and when he’s expected back?
Cheers. Hopefully we don’t rush him back again though.Sports Mole are suggesting against Palace, however not see anything about him even back in training yet so could be complete BS.
I’m not a doctor but with the run of relatively easier fixtures coming up that we give Varane more than normal leash to regain full fitness, maybe even waiting until the new year to bring him out.

If they are fit, play your best players - its as simple as that. There are no easy fixtures as Watford showed.
I’m not so sure it’s that simple. Lindelof and Bailly are of course not as capable of a fit Varane, but as we’ve seen already this season, it’s too tempting to bring back a player from injury before he’s truly fit. Better to err on the side of caution.
As i remember he was injured more than average in his early years but it was ok his last 2-3. Could be coincidence or he has entered the stage where injuries start. Was he a sick note at real?
It’s not that black or white. He should have recovered his injury but also be match fit and fit to play many matches in a row.The beginning of my sentence says 'if he is fit' - if he is then he needs to play. I'm sure they exercised caution during his recovery this time.

He’s had two injuries in short time and they were of the character that I suspect he wasn’t really fit in the first place. Most likely his long period without training between the Euros until he joined United was really poor preparations for him.It really is - if he can get through a few games with no reaction, why rest him? Its no different to any other player i.e. Luke Shaw - when he comes back from injury they generally keep playing. You can bring him off if games are wrapped up with 20mins to go etc otherwise he's far too important to rest - he's not overly injury prone from his history.

Genuinely forgot we had him.

What I mean with it’s not black and white is that it’s about taking risks. Fitness is gradual on a scale. If we didn’t have any CB available they would probably gamble more and play him earlier. Anyway, it will be interesting to see how the new manager acts when it comes to picking starters and circulation of the team.I'm sure they factored that into his recovery now, which is why he's not back.
Since he became a fixed starter at Real - According to Transfermarkt - he has the following numbers:
14/15: La Liga 27 matches ; Champions League 12 matches
15/16: La Liga 26 matches ; Champions League 7 matches
16/17: La Liga 23 matches ; Champions League 10 matches
17/18: La Liga 27 matches ; Champions League 11 matches
18/19: La Liga 32 matches ; Champions League 4 matches
19/20: La Liga 32 matches ; Champions League 8 matches
20/21: La Liga 31 matches ; Champions League 9 matches
Assuming a Central Defender is not someone who gets rotated a lot and without any other context: It looks like he is prone to some (minor - medium) injuries every year..
