He's almost god like on the pitch
Yes, it was clear when he sprinted to the byline and stopped at the line looking down at his legs. He felt a tweak. The fact that he ran after that for a few more minutes tells me it's not too bad, he was being extra cautionary.Ole just confirmed its his hammy
That's because he is mate.He looks a class above the rest.
BBC said:Solskjaer adds that Raphael Varane felt his hamstring and the boss did not want to take a risk.
Was it even a hamstring injury he picked up over the last international break? Seems a bit harsh to say he was rushed back if not
Just because it's not the same injury, doesn't mean rushing back didn't contribute. Players need time to get holistic fitness back after an injury layoff. Was it even a hamstring injury he picked up over the last international break? Seems a bit harsh to say he was rushed back if not
What must he be thinking looking across at Maguire after a decade beside someone like Ramos?

And wipe Maguire's hairy bottom.here, he's looking to carry and pass and push up whenever he can.
Depends on the severity of it, hopefully he's back for the Chelsea game though.Hamstring is it? Damn, is that usually 6 weeks out?
Unfortunately a hamstring injury isn’t a few days rest .My recollection is it was a groin injury the he got with France last time. Good to hear that it's not a recurrence of that. A few days rest and he'll be alright. Hopefully he misses the international break.
Blame oleHow does one justify claiming he was rushed back when he played at Spurs on the weekend without any problems?

This was the fear with signing him. Class player but quite injury prone.
Last thing we needed really this injury.
Varane was a cut above our other defenders but as usual Ole rushed a player back to save his skin and it backfired.
I was talking to a club physio (not United) the other week and he was saying there is a push in football now to stop rushing players back, as longer term it improves fitness reliability, but lots of managers only think of right now and want their players available the second they can be. Injuries compound on themselves and that's why players become injury prone, because old injuries never heal properly.
Because if the muscle is a little weaker than it should be, playing on it at Spurs and everywhere else will keep it weak. It might be a few games before it breaks again, but eventually it will.
He injured his groin playing for France. A grade 1 hip adductor strain is usually 2-3 weeks out. The Spurs game was exactly 3 weeks after the injury.
Seems as though he injured a different muscle last night anyway. Being reported as a hamstring injury.
The point he's making is valid though I think. If you've just come back from an injury and - especially if your injury hasn't fully healed - your body will be more suseptible to picking up other injuries, especially if you're playing a high volume of football.
All just guess work of course, but because Ole has the history he does with playing injured/not fit players, I don't think its unfair/crazy to suggest Varane might have come back in a bit earlier then he should have.
He played 90 mins against Tottenham and trained all week. He clearly recovered and was passed fit, hamstring injuries happen and he’s known to be susceptible to them, you can’t wrap players in cotton wool and with the case of muscle injuries players get stronger and more supple by training and playing so if it had healed like it clearly had by the fact he played 90 at the weekend, it’s right to give him games.Varane was a cut above our other defenders but as usual Ole rushed a player back to save his skin and it backfired.

Yeah, sure. Ole has history here. I just think Varane probably had adequate time to recover, based on what little information we have. Especially considering he survived the Spurs game and a few days training before getting injured again.
