Rangnick gegenpress conference vs Palace (H)

He is a bit of a storyteller, could write a book and I would read that.

It is interesting what he says about the Red Bull bit, and his advice to go for players on their first or second contracts, really hope we don't screw this up. He might be a great coach, but I think his help at board level could be invaluable.
Sounds exactly the opposite of what we've been doing. Will be interesting to see how he affects recruitment.

Haha [new manager] is clearly brilliant. You can immediately tell he's [positive adjective], exactly what we've been crying out for. Such a breath of fresh air compared to [old manager] and his constant [negative adjective]. Can't wait to see this guy finally drop deadwood like [players I don't like] and get the best out of [players I do like].

Nailed it.

I'm using this template for the next manager

Was surprised to hear he had a talk with Ole but then not surprised. Don’t think that happens too often. I like the pace of his speaking more than the previous fellas. Should make for shorter pressers. Excited to see us playing his way in the coming weeks.

Lots of people liked Oles first press conference, and LVGs... and Joses..... anyway I'm interested to see what Rangnick can do, although he is going to need some time with this team
I liked Ole's first conference mainly after having to endure years of Jose moaning. Jose and LvG's firsts were nothing special... generic conferences. They didn't even address the issue the squad had. They wanted more players while Ralf said it's hard to get new ones unless if they are guaranteed to be better than all the talents we have. This man speaks facts while the other were selling slogans.

Es war eine sehr gut Press Conference, es macht mir viel Spass Herr Ragnick zu behoren.

One thing that concerns me is that he said you cant do anything with fitness at this stage of the season, Its something you do in pre season. Does this mean we wont press much ? Or could we be doing a lot of pressing but burn out towards the end of the season ?

Nice try. :)In case you are really serious about learning German this is how it would be correct:

Only downside is, he's given every other manager our game plan for rest of the season

Gloat and take the piss out of me all you want but I will defend Rangnick until the end too. Especially if he doesn't hit the ground running, as the pitchforks will be out, we all know that.

I defended Ole as there was some positives, no matter how hard some "Ole Outers" would lead you to believe.

Yes, towards the end, even I, a strong believer in giving Ole time and believing he should be kept on, felt that things were getting untenable, each and every match was a "how much are we going to lose by" match. It was the right time for things to change. Ok maybe it should've been after Man City at least. But I was passionate about the club and still am, I felt that we should invest in long term. But things were getting worse and worse, so maybe there was enough time. There was tumescent football being played and you could see glaring errors on the pitch, it seemed like no one knew what to do.

We'll never know now of course. But I am very very very excited for the future of Man Utd under Rangnick's tenure. The future of the Man Utd is a promising one.

Lets be honest, if he can get us pressing, we will be fine. We literally have 2 quality players in positions where we could look tired.

Rashford Ronaldo Sancho
Martial Cavani Greenwood / Amad

Donny Bruno

Midfield is one area we lack quality and depth, sign someone in Jan we could be okay,.

The cult of Ole remains one of the strangest phenomena in the game. I understand he’s ‘likeable’ but you wouldn’t hire an electrician, who faulty wires your house burning down your living room then say, ‘he deserves some respect’ because the bedroom wiring looks alright.
You aren't really a United fan so i'm not surprised you would feel this way.

His first presser was like the last one. I see no difference that happened during these 3 years. People just wanted to hear someone else after Mourinho's toxicity in his last few months, not that Ole's presser itself was actually interesting.

This forum after his presser was speaking about him being very different to Jose and lifting the mood. Anyway point is pressers mean nothing, lets see what Rangnick can do over the next couple of months to get us heading in the right direction

In the end what matters is what they ultimately deliver, not what is said in a press conference

That's what I'm talking about. People just wanted to hear something different than Mourinho's toxicity. Go and listen to that presser now, nothing special about it

They all study English at school, and have done so since the 50s or 60s. Nearly everyone there who was born after WWII speaks English very well.
I know, I just meant he doesnt even have a German English accent.

Even more so, Rangnick studied and played in England, and he was actually a teacher certified to teach english in school before he started his professional coaching career.

I dont have scharfes S on the keyboard and was too lazy too copy it from somewhere. It wasnt that bad, not so many mistakes. :D

Why is it Herrn with an N?

I studied it in school actually but never got into it, never learned it properly which is a pity really.

Whatever he's selling I'm buying. I'd buy tampons from him. He's that convincing.

Great presser, thanks for posting as always @Samid

Have to admit it does feel very similar to every new manager press conference we’ve had in the past 10 years, at least the reaction to it anyway. I remember Ole’s positivity was like a tonic after Jose, we were all gushing at it. Or when Van Gaal said something very similar to Rangnick today about needing to train the players brains as well. Oh well, it’s about time we had something to cheer on this forum.

I find the Mourinho cult to be weirder. Atleast Ole had goodwill in the bank and didn't completely shatter the atmosphere.
We’ll just have to agree to disagree.
You aren't really a United fan so i'm not surprised you would feel this way.
Where’s this come from? Spoken like a man that would hire a plumber to do his electrics. Oh I’ve just clocked the username.

Had the pleasure of meeting Ralf Rangnick at a charity do once. He was surprisingly down to earth and VERY funny.

This is the first time since fergie era I finished watching PRESS conference and enjoy it.
Are you telling me you didn't enjoy "Enjoy the wine and mince pie...good bye" press conference of LvG? The press conferences of LvG in December 2015 when he was supposedly sacked were a blast. He used to thrash journalists left, right and centre. Since on pitch it was one of the most dullest of all time football, those press conferences were only source of entertainment.

It's not necessarily a cult - it's just staying that ultimately he came up short in his final few months, but that prior to that, a lot of great work had been done. The squad is in a much, much better shape than when he took over, and while the club was not in a good place when he left, there had been a positive trajectory until this season. But I think we will all agree that tactically, he was not at the right level.
It’s all subjective & I’ve no doubt a number of people have become revisionists but he didn’t come ‘up short in his final few months’ for me & some others, he’d been allowed to fail for some time then we bought Ronaldo & expected him to do something he’d never proven he could do.

Isn't that my point, and secondly nothing special about this one either
Proof will be in the pudding, I'm a fan of Rangnick but don't care about the presser, lets see what you can do with the group

He spoke with Ole for 2 hours before Chelsea game. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer loves our club and is a fecking legend.
I'm so glad that Ole isn't manager for a number of reasons, but the main one is that I don't have to think negatively about him anymore.

He really did try his best and clearly loves the club. The hate he was receiving towards the end wasn't nice at all. I'm glad it seems he isn't too downbeat about how it ended and not bitter at all.

That's a really nice gesture to help Rangnick plan forward.

Haha Rangnick is clearly brilliant. You can immediately tell he's got that United DNA, exactly what we've been crying out for. Such a breath of fresh air compared to Ole and his constant talk of United DNA. Can't wait to see this guy finally drop deadwood like Pogba, AWB, Bruno, Maguire, Rashford, Shaw, De Gea and get the best out of Donny, Martial, Amad, Pogba and Jesse.

Did it

Herrn is the dative case form of Herr that you need here (dative needed as it essentially answers the question to whom are you listening)

Well I mean it's pretty obvious coming from your posts. And you did choose this club on a whim, so it isn't surprising that you have little affinity with the club and is more like a modern chelsea fan.

He came across very well.

Surprising thing was the lack of detail he seemed to have around the consultancy role, he seemed to suggest they had barely discussed what's involved. It's possible he was just being deliberately obtuse if he just didn't feel like going into specifics.

For a second there, when he said the goal in 4 seasons would be to "stay in the top flight", I choked on my coffee.

Will be interesting to see what changes on the pitch. I liked his emphasis on balancing out defending and attacking, our defensive organisation has been severely lacking. Hopefully some of the coaches they have contacted can come here mid-season, that is really one area we need to improve to get anything positive out of this season.
