Rangnick gegenpress conference vs Palace (H)

Yes, seems he isn't too popular with fans of a certain club.

I get the dislike for Red Bull, of course, in general terms. I don't particularly like that whole concept myself. But it doesn't detract from RR's actual work.

True!
It's about what's behind Red Bull.
But have a lot of respect for Rangnick!

He knows football!

Red Bull, especially Leipzig seem to be on the decline in that regard currently. Their coaching team Marsch/Beierlorzer is maybe the worst they had since the club was founded.

But that shouldn't worry you for now, it just shows what happens when Rangnick leaves and therefore proves how valuable his influence was for them.
Though… Marsch is Ralf’s boy. He’s been grooming Marsch for years now. Goes without saying that had Rangnick been there would have been able to help him out in this moment. Stabilise the club as well as point out what’s gone wrong.

Ralf is ruthless though. He groomed Hasenhüttl at Leipzig…until he felt he wasn’t good enough and brutally told him there’s no new contract coming. Hasenhüttl quit, Ralf took over till Nagelsmann was available and then handed over the keys.

Guy is an insane talent spotter.

Really impressed by that Press conference. He clearly has a plan that he wants to implement which is refreshing, and appears totally comfortable dealing with the press so far. Hopefully he can implement his vision here.

The footballing "press" are an interesting bunch. Many of them are just lazy regurgitators of 3rd hand nonsense from a bloke in the pub.

And you get the likes of McNulty who does a fair job and Ronay who writes like he's employed by a Shakespearian theatre.

The one thing about Friday's presser to review the weekend fixtures was that it wasn't even discussed.

Weird

First presser was impressive from the Godfather of gegenpress, articulate, intelligent, charismatic and even humorous.

This result will help us all feel more at ease.
Only the 3rd clean sheet by United this season.

Good start for Rangnick

He said he wanted to stop us leaking goals and it's clear that's the focus. Could have won by a few today. Very promising no?

It's an improvement.
I'm holding out until the wins happen with a bit more grace between players before I join the Rangnick conga line.

Rangnick said it himself in the post match interview: He had said he wanted the players to have more control of the game, and he believes they did better than expected. That being said, I'm looking forward to seeing the type of football United fans expect of this club

Honestly, we might not see massive improvements until this Spring. He's got so much to work on fixing.

Just imagine having Rooney and Tevez playing the pressing style. The defenders would be toast.

PS: I was just a few rows in front of Rooney and he's completely lost his body shape.

There was an article in the Athletic yesterday that made a good point about this. It took Pocchetino's first game for Southampton and Klopp's first game for Liverpool, and pointed out that in both cases you could see the pressing system very clearly, but in both cases the teams also failed to score a goal. Drawing the not unreasonable conclusion that the players' first focus in that situation will be on the work done without the ball, and that you need a little bit of time with it before players thrive offensively in that setting. They could well have added Tuchel's debut too, 0-0 against Wolves. Seems a reasonable point to me.

It will take time but when the likes of Varane and Cavani come back we could improve quicker.
Cavani will chase all day and Varane will control that backline.
