Rangnick gegenpress conference vs Palace (H)

You're being rather demanding, aren't you.
First you don't want to hear anything bad about him while he's your manager, then you don't want to hear anything bad about him after he's been sacked. You could just close your eyes and ears and start singing loudly, you know.
The cult of Ole remains one of the strangest phenomena in the game. I understand he’s ‘likeable’ but you wouldn’t hire an electrician, who faulty wires your house burning down your living room then say, ‘he deserves some respect’ because the bedroom wiring looks alright.

Rangnick on what he liked from Arsenal
"All of you saw the game. The first half was shaky with this unlucky goal. Even myself, I said where is David? After that goal, it was a major blow for the team, they were lacking confidence. Which is normal after the recent weeks. It was important to get the equaliser before halftime. You could see the potential that was in the team. To transfer the game away from our own box into an area where we have our assets."
He’s more than aware of the strengths of the team and what he wants from it.

Assets: Ralf’s playing war games und sie werden nicht rundenbasiert sein! :nono:

I find the Mourinho cult to be weirder. Atleast Ole had goodwill in the bank and didn't completely shatter the atmosphere.

Didn't like that part. He's on borrowed time.
He really, really is. If we don't put in a good performance on Sunday then the board will have to act, and fast. No dithering this time.

Speaking confidently may also just be the Dunning-Kruger effect at work. Thankfully, this is definitely not the case here.

Interesting watch.

Seemed to really light up at (finally) being a part of English football.

I assume the United Youtube channel will upload this later? Really want to watch.

Even if it's worst case scenario and he's a complete snake oil salesman and his tactical nous is massively overstated, he's at least plenty convincing enough for the players to buy in to, and that's half the battle.

Refreshing to hear a manager who knows his stuff, such a contrast to whatever waste of time pressers were under Ole.

Also, club haven't spoken to him about what would consultancy role entail which sounds about right for our pack of jokers

Absolutely bodied.

Rangnick on training
"Modern football in the last 10 years, it has completely changed into a more physical, more athletic, more vertical game. In order to develop teams, you need to train the bodies and the brains."
Train the brain. feck knows most/all our team need that bit the most.

Alive and well:

He spoke with Ole for 2 hours before Chelsea game. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer loves our club and is a fecking legend.
Yep, that was my takeaway from that answer too. Legend.

Regarding Ralf saying about Brexit making it difficult to bring coaches in, is it the process of identifying the coaches is the problem, or more the work permit process? If they've been working as a coach for the past 5 years, wouldn't the work permit process be easier than with Ralfs?

Full press conference (audio not so great):

Missed opportunity. Rango Unchained
That was done on purpose, because I did not see who or what was chaining him, even if the movie title was what I was trying to kinda reference. But it’s still a miss as I realized only too late that when I changed “unchained” in the comment, the reference became tangential at best.

You mean Mourinho, after being fired, wouldnt sit down with Ole for 2 hours to tell him about the strengths of the team ? :)

Great press. The contrast between him and Ole is plain to see. Confident, has extreme knowledge of the game, tactics, knows about the club and what needs to be done, knows where our biggest problems lie right off the bat. I also am happy to know he isn't as dogmatic as some people here and especially in the media have portrayed him in regards to his ideology and Ronaldo.

Good question. It definitely means a bit more paperwork than before Brexit, but should not be that bit trouble. However I'm wondering if the overall effect that working in the UK became much less attractive due to Brexit could be a factor, too.

At top level you might not care, but a coach isn't paid as much as a manager and I don't know where the cutoff is that people don't care about their live being more complicated post Brexit.

It's not necessarily a cult - it's just staying that ultimately he came up short in his final few months, but that prior to that, a lot of great work had been done. The squad is in a much, much better shape than when he took over, and while the club was not in a good place when he left, there had been a positive trajectory until this season. But I think we will all agree that tactically, he was not at the right level.

Given he was lamenting the lack of opportunities to do training, I suspect we will see a heavily rotated team against Young Boys to give him more consecutive days on the training field to instil some of his methods. There’s still the possibility he uses the Young Boys match as a training opportunity itself, given you have five substitutes anyway. You could have six second XI players play 90 minutes, and the rest be his preferred first XI given no more than 60 minutes.

Ronaldo will 100% want to make it 6/6 group games scored in.

Yeah I'm thinking the same regarding your first point, especially if they're already in a job, it's going to be hard to leave their current post for a 6 month temporary position.

Its also the fact they'll have to relocate their family at this time of the year, or be away from family and again, it's only for 6 months.

Either way I'm sure it'll get sorted, the more coaches Ralf brings in, the better his way of thinking will be brought across to the players.

I very much like the cut of his jib. I hope he gets off to a good start, even if he can't influence it that much, so that there isn't immediate unnecessary pressure on him.

Lots of people liked Oles first press conference, and LVGs... and Joses..... anyway I'm interested to see what Rangnick can do, although he is going to need some time with this team
