Ralf Rangnick's consultancy role has been scrapped

Well considering he fecked off to Austria at the first opportunity and he didn't actually do any 'consultancy' at United, there's not really much to go over is there? And it's not even as if the role was defined so we don't even know what he would have been able to accomplish either.

And there's nothing to really support his competence so why do you keep hankering for a fraud like that?? The way you and the Rangnites lot go on about him, I'm surprised he's just managing Austria and not in some plum position at an elite club. You would have thought he'd be perfect for a project like Newcastle. Why haven't they got his number?
Question has been answered already. If you think, he is lacking competence, thats fine. But it is telling more about you than it is telling about RR. And please, stop with Rangnites ,cult yadda yadda, it is getting ridiculous. As if people would be attached to person and not what they stand for - another wasted opportunity (be it a big one or small one might be up for debate, but not if it hasn't been an opportunity)

He had quite clearly been frozen out by that stage.

He must have convinced the board that he could do a decent job behind the scenes and also spun some bullshit about being able to get the team playing again.

When they saw just how crap he was, they must have thought, well if he fooled us with the first team we can't seriously trust him with the whole club.

He would have been a consultant. He would have said his things and others would have to decide what to do with the information. Also the club approached him about the interim position, how would he be the one who has fooled anyone?

Wasn't he let go, after we hired ETH. Not sure that was his decision to feck off.

Also he has don't this twice with two German clubs, and has a very proven track record in recruitment.

What did they think when Ole shat the bed when we were top of the league in January/February and started talking down our chances? And what are they thinking now when a sought after progressive manager has just been humiliated with this shower of shite at Brentford?

The guy I responded to used the term 'Ole In Crowd'. You ok with that? What's the difference? 'Ole in crowd', 'Ole fanboys', 'Ole outers' etc., etc., different terms bandied about I like the term Rangnites and hope it catches on. I think it's very fitting.

I wouldn't say he's incompetent but he's nothing special either and certainly not the miracle cure to our problems as people are making him out to be.

Ralf showed that the emporer had no clothes....and now we continue to pay the price of an incompetent board.

They would have done their due diligence and asked the right questions, listened to what he had to say, then gone away and deliberated as to whether he was the right person for the job. They didn't just take a plane to Moscow and hand him the keys, did they?

I think, using this term is just as daft as Rangnites. Is this the reason, why you seem to be so driven to make sure RR gets out of any positive lights? Because it feels a bit awkward, if this is some sort of extension of the Ole in or out argument, thats fine, just say it, because then the fire here will burn down.

Btw: you called him "crap" and said he "fooled the club" - I am sure you can understand that this isn't really indicating "wouldn't say he's incompetent". For a common grounds sake: he probably isn't something special anymore. And he surely isn't a miracle worker. And yes, some people allowed their enthusiasm to hype him up to a level he'd never be able to fulfill. But at the end of the day, he has a trackrecord of being a competent coach. And he has a trackrecord of creating productive modern football environments. United could have benefitted from his knowledge.

Well yeah of course they wouldn't have done that. They seemingly agreed to engage him in a consultancy role. A servicer paid to fulfill a certain service. There isn't any greater level of trust needed than trust in the servicer to at least be able to create something benefitial.

At least it's not as bad as the group that think calling him 'Wreck-it' is the height of humour. The instant I see someone say that I find it incredibly difficult to take them seriously. Reminds me of when I was about 13 and thought calling Liverpool 'Liverwort' was clever.
100% percent agree. Using this sort of names for things is also 99 out of 100 times the fast track to an pointless debate that will be on the edge of becoming emotional from start to finish. Lets see what the poster answers, maybe all this is some sort of PTSD from our last longterm manager.

My views on Wreck-It have nothing to do with Solskjaer. And unless you were living under a rock last season, yes he was crap and probably did fool the club with his ramblings but I'm referring to his stint as interim manager. I am giving him some credit for his 'consultancy' credentials even though I think they're well past their sell by date. He's done nothing to indicate that he would/could transform a club like United and nobody else is keen to find out either.

Well if it's such a surefire thing and guaranteed to bear fruit, why wouldn't they?
Which other club is in the need to be (re)build, that is similar in status to United? I can't think of any comparable club that is in as bad shape as United.

They don't need to be in bad shape. I said Newcastle United would be a perfect project. Several clubs in Italy could benefit from his services. What about Salford City? Again a perfect project to get his teeth into. The giants from not so long ago. Nottingham Forest, IFK Goteborg, Anderlecht, Leeds United. There's loads of clubs that he could transform if he is this guru that everyone is making him out to be.

If he's done it twice with 4th division sides, then basically every 4th division side are nuts not to be in for him.

Well then, perhaps you'd like to set me straight?

We don't know what he shared privately no, but on the other hand we have no reason to assume that the recommendations he gave to club contradict the assessment he, rather extraordinarily, made publicly.

He's no longer at the club, he's not a consultant/advisor so the club hasn't been consulting him so he isn't being ignored.

And going back to last season during his time as Interim we both agree we don't know what he did or didn't tell the club privately. So we don't know for certain what if anything is being ignored.

Told some hard cold truths, United couldn't take it so they got rid of him. This club is dreadful.

How can they agree for him to be a consultant one minute then not the next.

He's absolutely talking out of his arse. Don't bother.

He took up the Austria job (behind our backs) in April, around the time we exited the CL and were down to 7th in the table. It was then mutually agreed that he leave altogether after the season ended, presumably with ETH's blessing. Maybe the club could have tried harder to make him DoF and put all our trust in him to make him stay, but that would've meant pushing Murtough aside and some radical restructuring again.

Dont be ruddy ridiculous. So you are saying that what he has said publicly is the exact opposite of what he told the club privately? We know it is being ignored because he raised points publicly about the need for change and what sort of players we need. And what the scouts should have done.

Are you someone at Manchester United? We need radical restructuring. Why should ETH have the final say in who should be the DOF?

Not sure if mentioned before but Rangnick apparently told a German pundit in private that "I am not able to list you all the things that are going wrong in the club. It is even worse than it seems."

Not that I really rate Rangnick but I'm not surprised.

The fact that we decided not to get any players in in Jan despite losing Mason and Martial with the reasoning given that 'we don't want to get someone in that our new manager won't want' despite the shit that we currently have is unforgivable. It's actually mind blowing how far we've fallen.

'There weren't any players that could have helped us'.

You would've thought we'd just won the treble...

I agreed with the sentiment. Still do, in a vacuum makes sense in general, but it's just funny how it ended up being an omen for the unimaginative, extreme manager dependent strategy we would see this summer. Even when they get something right it's simply to facilitate some overall incompetence further down the line. Just like hiring a consultant then flushing all his recommendations, even the ones that made sense. He even warned us not to put the burden of recruitment on the manager alone. If we took any of his advice and still fired him we'd be better off.

Which would have been an incredibly astute move...

I am really pissed off that people are still blaming Rangnick. Give it a rest. It's the Glazers fault for christ sake. Sick of this culture ot the fanbase of blaming players and managers

Yeah scouse wally should never have got job over Ralf, absolute joke that happened but what can you expect from these clowns
It's United in a microcosm: make a spectacularly bad decision (appoint Murtoug, extend Ole, buy Maguire, keep Lingard, etc.) and then double down on that mistake, thereby compounding the shite product on the field.

Hold on a second: the Glazers are the prime culprits, but no way should the players be let off the hook.

Its on the players to an extent but who bought the players. It was essentially the recruitment department and former managers. And whose responsibility is it to sell them. Again the board/recruitment. You really think the Glazers are going to spend big to gut the squad. I can't.

Nobody is letting them off the book. They've disgraceful the club. But who will replace them? Or sanction the fees to buy their replacements?

Honestly what needs to happen now is to get the Glazers out. It has to happen this season because I think it's a critical point now. My fear is this season turns to shit and Ten Hag gets the sack. We are past the point of focusing on the players. Not getting rid of the Glazers this season would be catastrophic. And the club will probably be destroyed.

Ralf was our first appointment post-SAF that caused some concern in my Liverpool supporting mates - for me that alone is a marker that we should have kept him around.
But now having done that - we need to throw our collective weight behind Ten Hag. He has the capability to turn us into something better and we need to give him that chance.

I agree - the Glazers are parasites; to a lesser extent, so are the likes of Rashford (on the field; I still respect what he's done off of it), Maguire, Shaw, and Bruno. I can never excuse lack of effort or character.

Look I see that point of view. The players are abysmal. But the focus should be getting the Glazers out. I just hope the fanbase unites and get it done. It needs to be a coordinated effort
