This is the way I see it:
As a manager, regardless of whether it's his best skillset (i.e it's not) or with the underlying issues we had in the team before he arrived, he's been poor.
As a cold blooded analyst of the issues and how he speaks his mind, he's been brilliant.
The issue with the latter is that it seems to mean almost feck all as he hasn't been able to influence that much because the board didn't put him in a position to do it. Furthermore, if his consultancy is 'only' a few days a month, his input is even more limited in the future.
This whole season and the 6 months under Rangnick has been a waste and the only hope is that with ETH's appointment and this new found 'direction' under Murtough, maybe we do actually have some structure in place. Maybe Rangnick's consultancy and knowledge going forward, as he has succinctly articulated of what he believes may work for us can kickstart some new foundation for ETH to build upon.
That's the only hope and logical conclusion I have.
