Ralf Rangnick | ex-interim manager | does anyone rate him?

Any other top 6 team would’ve scored 4-0 that made 28 attempts. So its not on ralf anymore.

We missed an open goal that even werner would shoot and a rare penalty miss then a handball allowed.
It wasn’t our night honestly.
And the goal we scored was a heavy deflection so really we were lucky to get one!

Unless he wins the CL , it's a certainty at this point he will not be the full time guy. Seeing some small improvements here and there but that's the absolute minimum expected from a new man in charge. Being interim and stepping into our garbage fire are both mitigating circumstances. Top 4 and CL are all we have left, Ralf needs to deliver at least one.

If this was a team in the premier league, I would somewhat understand giving the quality of the league. But, it was Middleboro..

Ralf is not the guy and now I am changing my opinion about if ten hag or Pochettino isn't available that he should stay on. I think we should get Zidane as third choice even if he is just a more lucrative version of ole. Ralf time as a manager should just be restrained to this season, unless he somehow pulls a mericle in the Champions League. But, even though, it might just be a di Matteo or tuchel moment
Did you watch the game? 30 chances to 6. How is it ralf’s fault that we missed so many chances? That Bruno missed an open goal, that Ronny missed a penalty. It was just one of those nights. Zero blame on the manager.

Thought we played well overall apart from some periods in the second half as we should against these teams.

Unfortunately, Football is a result-oriented industry. And, the more we don't get our way with it, the sooner the players will lose confidence and stop trying.

Not that our results under him are horrible. It is just that we lost a chance to win a cup. The next few games will be interesting.

I thought we played very well. Our forwards just fecked up their chances. I’m fact I’ve not remembered a game recently where we created so many chances for our forwards as we did in this game.

there is definitely progress in the way we setup and play. Today was one of those days where our forwards forgot their shooting boots.

Love the performance outside of misfiring forwards but hate the result.

Usually its the other way around.

Bruno really should've scored. I think he's been brilliant since he came but his finishing recently is a worry.

The Lingard situation just looks like another example of the board running the show and Ralf not having any authority. Someone else has granted Lingard time off so now Ralf has to answer questions about it and point out he'd obviously rather have the player.

That wasn’t on the manager last night

We created more than enough chances that on another day this would be a 6-0 game

We were playing a Championship team with our full strength team out there, yet Middlesbrough seemed much more capable of doing something in the second half.
The overall play was slightly better than the nothing Van Gaal days, but given that this was against a team in the Championship, it is a given.
So far, we have been lucky with our wine and play like Van Gaal's team at its nadir.
Ralf only seems to be able to talk well but didn't really know how to manage

Cant blame the manager. We missed a lot of chances, a penalty. Feel sorry for him because is abundantly clear the board are making the decisions, i.e the Lingard situation. We have let a host of players leave on loan, we have one unavailable and didnt bring anyone in. Ralf has been left with crumbs.

The best thing is, in what will be our biggest summer in terms of transfers, we wont even have a permanent manager until when? Even then, they will want to come in and assess the current players. Pogba, Cavani, Lingard, Mata all out of contract.

Absolute shambles

Result aside the performance last night made me very optimistic for how we might play under Rangnick the remainder of the season.

We looked like a team last night, a team with a coach. I’d forgotten what that felt like.

He looked pissed at post match. Looks like he's had enough. How much sht can one man endure. I think he will not be putting himself forward for the managers job and Im not sure any other manager can handle this club better than he has. Saying that I think he has the team playing well we just need a bit of luck a few players to kick on. He needs something back from someone. Anyone.

This isnt true at all. They had probably two chance in the entire game and one was clear handball. If we had taken our chances, we would have hammered it. These kind of result happens from time to time.

I saw just parts of the game, but it looked pretty good and one could feel some urgency attacking. It seems to me the team was instructed to up the tempo while attacking and to stick to playing one touch or at the most two touch football. It worked well in the first minutes. The team doesn't seem to sustain that over long enough periods though, they slow down very much at times.
Should maybe have pressed further for the 2-0 before slowing down. Then again, those chances missed were freakish and there's little you can do about that. Except finish them of course.

I also saw a very dangerous short corner variation which almost lead to a goal, something that surely must trigger an immense wave of optimism.

Blaming the manager is crazy and you quite clearly didn't watch the game. If you create 30 odd chances in the game, a lot of them clear cut and concede very feew- then obviously the manager is doing his job right. No tactic or preparation can make up for missed penalties and players not scoring in front of goal when in good positions to do so. It's not tactics, it's not coaching, it just sometimes happens that players don't finish chances, no matter how many they get. I get that it's human nature to want to blame an individual because it's a conduit to direct our anger towards but in this instance it's misplaced.

Disappointed about the result but performances are heading in the right direction. Team is also developing an identity.

it think he is experiencing how crooked the board is. I dont see him being considered for the job as he is too honest. All things he has to put up with in a short space of time i think he has done well

1-0 United and hope it sticks. That’s some identity. Not blaming Ralf but we’ve not had a convincing performance since the first couple of matches with him as the manager. These players have been allowed to carry on doing what they’ve been doing for the past few years. This will end up being one of the worst seasons in the last decade all things considered.

We created so many great chances yesterday, how can you say 1-0 united and hope it sticks?

We have a ole inner right here.

With ole we used to play shite and lose, with rangnick we played much better and lost because of missed pens, missed sitters, shit ref awarding a goal to the opponent.

Ole as a manager is not fit to lace rangnicks shoes and rangnick isn't even a top tier manager.
Oh yeah, I'm def notorious on here for being an Ole inner..... But keep up with the excuses and double standards it's very amusing. Nothing ever Ragnicks fault.

But hey, he started his best 11 and at least he made it to penalties against middleboro so I guess that's an improvement after all.

We’re appalling going forward, there is no penetration. We have started to keep the ball better, albeit marginally.

Still not good enough from Ralf at the minute but I’m in his corner until it becomes clear that it’s not working.

We created 30+ chances, missed an open goal and missed a penalty as well as their only real attempt as the handball goal. I’m not sure what else you want the manager to do, run on and score himself perharps? You’re acting like Boro played us off the park and we couldn’t string 2 passes together, the attitude here is completely baffling to me

It's not only the boro game I'm talking about. I'm making statements based on every game since he joined. Also I am calling out the double standard snakes. Even with Ole there were loads of times when these players missed sitters.

Almost everyone in here constantly sitting and bashing on Ole including myself but now because it's Ralf he's suddenly absolved of any criticism. Can't stand this snake attitude. Everyone gathering up with pitch forks to defend him as soon as someone criticizes him. Fact is he's set us up very poorly in many games.

Did you watch yesterday’s game?

Last night didn't even seem that good attacking wise for me. It wasn't like we were camped in their half, it was mainly from counter attacks and mistakes that we had our best chances. Absolutely nothing happened in extra time, it was terrible.

Burnley on Tuesday is a huge game for the rest of our season.

Hilariously shit take. We play absolutely nothing like we did under van Gaal. Have you banged your head? Maybe give it another bang, see if that sorts it.

This. I think we have reason to look forward to future games. That will do for this season for me. Good results is certainly welcome

I think it’s very harsh to blame Ralf for our experienced attackers (namely Rashford, Ronaldo, Bruno) missing for fun. You can blame Ralf if we played disjointed and barely made chances as he sets the team out to play a certain way, but he can’t do shit if they’re horrendous at hitting the target.

Everything I saw last night looked promising. Finishing is something that either can be easily worked on in training or you get freak occurrences like last night where nothing goes in and 9-0 win against Soton when fecking everything goes in.

The fact we looked organised and made good attacking moves should be seen as a positive. It looks more sustainable than under Solskjaer when individual brilliance bailed us out for playing shit. I didn’t watch last night and thought ‘feck we need Bruno to come up with magic here to get us out of this shitshow’

The last two matches showed true progress with what Ralf is doing.
The fact our strikers missed sitters is not his fault.
It's terribly frustrating though, because when be people prefer to the game in future, it's a loss, and feels like a missed opportunity to build on the steady progress the team is experiencing. We'd have been bouncing to Burnley after a 3 game winning run. I honestly don't remember seeing a PL level team miss so many sitters, it was atrocious. However the football performance (apart from the finishing) was absolutely glorious for the first 60 mins. This loss really hurt

Haters can keep complaining. The fact is, there has been a steady progress in terms of our game play. People are still complaining about our performance at Newcastle when we had a covid outbreak.

I still don't like his midfield combination though. Scott, Pogba and Bruno just won't work. He will have to add an extra midfielder and take one of the wingers off. Given their form, it wouldn't be a bad try either.

We're already seeing some measure of a style of play. It just needs refining. Performance was good, I don't care that we lost, especially given that we lost by a blatant handball. If it's not Ten Hag, I wouldn't mind if he stays for one more year, provided results and performances don't dive like the end of Ole's first season.

We’ve improved immeasurably from Villa away onwards. Yes we still don’t sustain it over the 90 minutes yet and we do seem to lose momentum in games easily but if we can keep on this trajectory I think we’ll end the season well.
