Ralf Rangnick | ex-interim manager | does anyone rate him?

The club is so rotten there isn’t a foundation for success and Rangnick is fighting a losing battle. I really wouldn’t be surprised if after his interim period there’s an ‘agreement’ that he won’t go into his next role and leave the club. Too honest, too demanding and blunt for this board. They want a yes man and he certainly isn’t one of those, he’ll blow their shit up. He’s being let down by so many people at the club.

Thanks,
least someone is courteous around here rather than just being plain rude and angry.
Oh please, like "What are you on about??" is courteous and polite. If you now feel you can relate with the original point say so but don't act like this was the courtesy you carried from the start. You're now more courteous so I'll do the same. It's okay, not a big deal if you thought it was attacking Ralf as everyone is on board the notion he isn't to be blamed. Let's move on and cheers as well.

I think Rio raised a valid point. Who have they improved by coaching so far?
Not convinced by his coaching team that he brought in

Did you watch the game? 30 chances to 6. How is it ralf’s fault that we missed so many chances? That Bruno missed an open goal, that Ronny missed a penalty. It was just one of those nights. Zero blame on the manager.

I agree it was an unusual night, but regardless the team we played was a championship team. We couldnt score more than one goal against them in 120 minutes of football. That is poor from a team that is full of superstars. Ralf is not to blame for the misses, but he is to blame for not making use of his squad and talent advantage. He could have try and push the team more to win in full time, by keeping on the more offensive minded players and utilizing different subs. Pogba should have stayed on as he is always an attacking threat if pushed forward(else play with Bruno or mata in the 8 role if fatigued), Fred should have been put on for mctominay instead. Matic for Varane for his passes and mejbri along with elanga should have been bought on for more energy and dynamism. Push for a more attacking shape, but i didn’t see that transformation occur, which eventually led us to lose out on penalties to a championship team,

Sounds like Ralf’s missing a trick by not seeking your advice before he makes his decisions.

People laying into Rangnick, haha classic. I swear a lot of it is the Ole cult contingent who are now like "SEEE, I told you it wasn't Ole!'.

Performance was good last night, I think 99 times out of 100 we win that game, that was definitely an anomaly. The chances we created and then that penalty against... Whereas with Ole we might win but it would be entirely unconvincing and feel entirely shaky, last night we lost, but the organisation is starting to become apparent. We don't look like we're pretending to be a football team anymore, thank feck.
 its starting to get funny how you guys (i suppose you wore the 'Ole out' badge proudly back then and even now?) just can't let go. Honestly, most of what you call "Ole cult" who supported Ole till everything started falling apart this season have moved on and are looking forward, and its you who can't seem to move on. And even funnier is that the same people complaining about Ole are usually the ones complaining about Ralf (*insert that spiderman meme here)

Mate, I asked a question and got snarky comments back.

This place has become toxic recently and posts like yours ain't helping the situation.

I apologize if you think I was having a dig at you but I was legitimately asking a question as I obviously missed the chain. No need to be so angry.

I couldn't give a damn of you are having a dig at the club or the manager as quite a lot of people seem to think that's what this place is for, as is their right.

Not many coaches would be willing to drop things for an interim position. If he was the FT manager I reckon he'd have had far more interest from potential coaches.

This was always going to be an issue with his interim appointment

Twat of a DoF giving time off to squad players with an FA cup tie coming up. You can't write the shit. I already think they have no business being ahead of Rangnick, how do you make that decision without the manager? No wonder the players find professionalism oppressive, because of the precedents set by the dimwits at the top. Richard Arnold and the board, fix this shit asap. The deadwood doesn't end at the players. Players just asking not to play like the season is over. I genuinely thought it was a joke at first.
Where did you read that Murtough gave Lingard time off?

Genuine question - has he tried this question in the last 3 or 5 years ? Wish all this former players just keep their mouth shut . At times, it's embarrassingly bad.

To the point, I do see some progress with Dalot, Elanga, Fred, Telles . He just started like 2 months before. We have some level of expectations at this club .

The ones he’s brought in are still gonna be miles ahead of oles lot though. We’re looking a lot more like a coached team then we ever did under Solskjær

Been reported it was Murtough who gave him time off and if it even turns out it wasn't it would still reflect very poorly on his management. They were either delegated the power to do so or exceeded their powers. Take your pick between which of Fletcher and Phelan that could have been. Imo it's not a light situation that should just be swept under the rug, not just because it's lowly Lingard or because of the result (may not even have made a huge difference to the result) but because (i) it is a terrible precedent to have done that without the manager's consent (ii) it was incredibly foolish to do so on the eve of the FA cup 3rd round, the very fixture squad options are needed for. If they even bothered to ask Ralf I'm sure he would have made this obvious. Just a terrible lack of common sense all round and managerial incompetence.

I do find this genuinely annoying too. They were bending over backwards to defend their mate Ole and blame everyone but him during his tenure, but are quick to sharpen the knives for Ralf. I remember Evra's Bizarre "what is happening to my club" rant before Rangnick properly had his feet through the door.

It is so similar to Liverpool in the 90s when it all went to shit. All these ex players were saying this and that.

I take what Lingard says with a pinch of salt. I think this is the third time the board have installed someone who's ego and/or professional pride is bigger than their willingness to play nice. Rangnick will continue to call things as he sees it. It's hard to know what really went on in that Lingard situation, but I also find it quite difficult to believe that Murtough somehow had the power to grant him further holiday without consulting Rangnick.

I believe Ralf. It is time the PR teams spinning things for the players to remain onside with the fans get called out.

Ralf calling out players, players upset because now we get to really see what they are like.

I like this management style, hold everyone accountable with the truth.

And as interim manager, this is unexpected beneficial for us in the future.

Interim usually doesn't try hard enough lest rocking the boat. Most of them want to get the position permanently, so they play with the politic.

Ragnick already break thing up, make it public. So the next manager should be informed about everything. There is no misunderstanding, and second chance to have a final assessment.

The result is not great, but it is all laid out which players fail to buy into the plan. Which players profile doesn't fit the style, even if their head is right.

We were playing a Championship team with our full strength team out there.
If this statement was true I dread to think some of the shit on a stick performances served under Jose and Ole. In those games we were playing like a Sunday League team then?

Murtaugh is obviously calling Woodward for advice, given how neither has a clue on about football. Woody said, don’t worry mate, just make sure the dividends are paid, that’s the most important thing in that position.

The damage done by Woodward and the Glazers with their hiring of managers and signing and extending players is close to being actual sabotage. Until the clubs control gets into line with that at other big clubs, with personnel decisions made by football brains, nothing repeat nothing is going to change. That’s reality and the stench of Woodward’s policies on click bait and Disneyland remains , individual performances papered over the chasms last season.

Well, Mourinho was blunt and open about issues with the players and their bad performances, and that didn't go down well with the fans. What's the difference here?
Mourinho confronted the players in front of everyone and loved to start an argument in the dressing room.

Is Murtough another Solksjaer? In a job that’s well beyond him? If you were the Glazers/Arnold surely it would make sense to see that putting Rangnick in that position is going to make/save a lot of money and give you a better chance of success. Things have gone even further south and more chaotic with Murtough (and Fletcher) in. If Arnold wants to make a clean break from “the Woodward era” then that might be a place to start. Or is it more that Murtough’s job is a hiding to nothing?

I’m struggling to think of any professional in football who has made such bad decisions, with such frequency as Woodward, with all the advantages that United have. Ridsdale at Leeds? Barcelona’s previous President? (Forget his name right now).

How do people come up with this stuff.
Admittedly it's not that easy to find a detailed bio on him, but Murtough (that's how your DoF's name is spelled) is a sports scientist, was Head of Football Development at Everton and 'Head of Elite Performance' for the Premier League before joining you in 2013, first as Youth coordinator if I'm correct, then as Head of Football development and finally DoF.

But he "has no clue about football"? He "calls Woodward" who tells him to make sure "dividends are paid"?

Jesus fecking Christ some of the stuff one has to read. Well, not "has to" but you know.

Yea, shocked we didn't bring on Tom Heaton for Ronaldo. Did you see our bench?

you made me laugh, i’ll give you that. In that game, tom might have done better anyways.

But I thought marcus was better than ronaldo in that game. Why not keep rashford?

It's amazing isn't it? Murtough is one of the people in Football that has had to climb the ladders on the Football side of things and you have "fans" questioning his knowledge about Football.

I feel, Hansi, that responding to imbecilic posts like this is unnecessary. You're better than this.

I don't think he can do much, he said he wanted both Carrick and McKenna to stay but it was their decision to leave. He also mentioned lot of people he knows already had job to work with and also their visa to work at UK might not even be approved.

Don't we have some kind of duty to correct obvious, blatant falsities? If that is a word? Because these things perpetuate themselves if they stand unchallenged.
I mean, they perpetuate themselves anyway. But it's kind of depressing to me. Obviously I mean in a larger context, not specifically in that of John Murtough's professional honour. I can see self-perpetuating, counter-factual agendas whipping through people's minds, posts and realities in swaths of destruction.

Bold words directed at literally the worst non-united poster
(No hard feelings Hansi, you know i love you!)

Yeah, I think the fact we had 30 shots and they hardly had a sniff, speaks to some level of improvement. We at least look like we’ve been coached. That wasn’t always the case with Ole.

Rio adds next to know insight into the game unless hes talking about a defender or the defense in general.

He is extremely biased and ignorant to coaching methods in my opinion. How anyone can think we haven't changed materially in our play or that Rangnick hasn't improved certain players is just beyond me.

Fred looked better, McTominay had looked more consistent, Dalot and Telles are obvious examples too and he also brought Elanga into the fold.
