we were down tools, egos / differences / not fully fit / Dysfunctionnal / Not properly coached over last 3 years
But still he is brinnging thigns together slowly but for sure. can see players responding to him.
I think he is short of 1 or 2 major signings to get it going like a well functioned team

He seems to be very proactive. He recognises what doesnt work in one game and the next game then there is a change.
There will still be bumps along the way. But we looked very good today. It was our best performance under him.

Most refreshing thing with Rangnick is he knows what the feck he did wrong. He won't come to a postgame looking bewildered saying the lads just have to play harder. There will be hope for improvement each week.
How about if Ole adapted himself 3 years ago. The guy has been here few months and you think everything should be all good all of a sudden.
If anything there is always a new manager bounce here at the caf. Let's see how many reactionary comments or massive U-turns/flip-flops we get from the posters in May.
At last someone who knows how to coach, we have seen in 10 games what we didn't in 3 years with Ole. A plan, a style of football. (other than 6 at the back and counter)
The results still have been poor recently. Newcastle and Wolves we should do better against and dropped points vs Villa.
Today was the best result, but got a bit lucky with the late goal. Hopefully it gives us confidence.
Spurs and Arsenal have better form than us so we are underdog right now for CL.

We are fortunate he will still be here in a consultancy role for at least two more years. Hopefully longer.

The only really disappointing result recently has been the home loss to Wolves. You can't really win them all, especially the state we have been in since he took over. In the last 10 games we're I think only behind Pool and City in terms of form so that's not bad at all.
There is visible improvement in terms of game plan and also results to back it up.
What surprised me is his courage to play 4 forwards towards the end of the game. Which means he doesn't see "played well and drawn with a 'top four' team" as any kind of "accomplishment".
Maybe I'm not sure to be honest, most managers start without the previous coaching staff in place. And most on here seemed to think it was a good idea that the coaching staff all left after Solskjaer did.
So basically you don't see any positives. Also, can we please stop bringing the games soon after our covid outbreak ?

We're playing with a lot more control and not conceding chances. Thank god we don't have to see the 4222 anymore. Look so much more balanced with Bruno in that deeper 8 role in the midfield 3, but with licence to roam.
Hypothetically speaking if we can sign a quality DM and a No.8 that can control games and help us to keep the ball better, we have the makings of something here with 433.

The positive is we are in two cups, but I don't see us wining anything or get top 4 unless we improve soon.
Elanga is the positive, but the overall play is still not great.
We have even games against all sides that should be lower down in the table than us.
With the squad we have we should be fighting for the title and I hoped for that before this season.
There is a marked improvement in our players' ability and willingness to battle for the ball and win their duels. It is so simple - yet so godly needed in the past 3 years. We have finally joined the league of 'good teams'

He doesn't take over until February. And I don't think Ed is going to do any work between now and the end of the month.
Have you seen spurs play. If we are lucky with the late goal then so are spurs with their late winners. I won't call us favorites for top 4 but I also think you are a tad underrating us. It could be good if we peak at the right time in the season.
I'm knee jerking it to him really hard right now and it's ok. You can just SEE it. You can see the football being coached on the field. Players are a lot more comfortable on the ball when they understand their surroundings.

Devil's Devil's Advocate -- most of us were giddy after 10 matches of any of our last 3 managers.
Biggest thing is how he has performed even with significant personell missing. McTominay was a huge miss against Villa… they’re a very good team now but we went up 2-0 and only drew due to fatigue. You tell a well coached team when different players come in and out and the team keeps performances up. Our possession is so much better and defending every player plays their part.
His decision making is so good. Knew when to take off Ronaldo…bring back Elanga(his high intensity training has turned the boy into a real player) ole had him for a few mths but he looked lost everytime he played.
True. Newcastle was mostly fitness related imo… wolves was a little of both but benching Bruno and Fred was suicidal
Now just imagine if we gave him enough leeway to rebuild/tweak this team in 2 yrs to make a winning team.
He seems to know what we are not doing right. The final third. So I am sure he is going to try to make it right. He also mentioned their header and it's something we need to correct.

Lucky result against West Ham. If we didn't score in the 90th minute stoppage time we would've drawn and it would be a different reaction on here. Fine margins.
United should've beat Wolves, Newcastle and Aston Villa. Most people thought we would've won most of our games in January and February.
also very lucky against Brentford as they battered United like a battered sausage in the 1st half and should've scored.
and don't forget how lucky we was to beat Aston Villa in the FA Cup with a dodgy VAR call. They played us off the park. So a few of them good results recently was fortunate. It's all about context.
let's see and judge Rangnick and the team in the next few games. Or will it be another false dawn. Too early to say because of the manner of the lucky late win against West Ham (they could've won it too with the chances they had)
knowing these overpaid players with a weak mentality probably think they are amazing because they beat West Ham they'll lose or draw another in the next few games because they get over-confident.

I don't care about the comparison to Ole, but good to see how RR has started compared to our form before he took over. Especially the goals conceded column.
Forget about Top 4 and all. The guy is laying a proper foundation. We are finally looked like a team coached with modern philosophy of high intensity attacking football.
We are starting to control game, coordinated pressing, keep possession (we can't string 2 passes together under Ole when pressed), players actually running more, players starting to give their 100%, team spirit and never give up attitude. Albeit there is still a lot of room to improve in final third.
Even, the fringe players starting to fit into the system like Telles, Dalot, Elanga, Jones, Matic and etc. The team start to depend a lot more on tactic, system and style of play. This is what top team like City and Pool do where the system is more important than individual player. This feel like under SAF where the squad players can step into the system and contribute without massive drop of quality to the team.
Rangnick also bring into the club new culture, discipline, demand and standard to the club. It's not under Ole anymore where players are bigger than the manager resulted with the laziest, indiscipline and most under performed squad in EPL.
The nex manager wether it's Ten Hag or Poch will have much easier transition and hopefully bring us back to winning top honours. Hope this modernisation and proper management of the club will continue in the long future after the next manager and so forth.

The same people praising him would be on here criticising him if we drew with West Ham (we got lucky with a 90th minute winner let's be honest) or we don't beat Middlesborough or lose against Burnley. It's the constant flip-flopping that grinds my gears.

He's also the first manager to give youth a real chance imo. He gave Elanga a start despite having Sancho, Rashford, Martial, Cavani on the bench. Our previous managers generally gave young players a chance only when they had to because of injuries. The only exception was Greenwood but you may argue he's competing against only the likes of James, Lingard, Mata.
People that expect immediate result from Rangnick must note the following:
1) Even Pep and Klopp need time
2) People will say Tuchel and Gerrard improved their team immediately but they didn't go into a team full of prima donnas, indiscipline squad, unfit players, bad club culture and players not coached properly for the last 3 years. Players cant even run 90 mins.
3) Rangnick is not world class manager but his interim roles is to lay the foundation to modernise our play. He needs to prepare the foundation for the next world class manager to come in to bring us forward.
4) Rangnick is stepping into one of the most hot seat in world football where even some world class manager can't take it.
5) Rangnick roles is not limited to first team coach. As a consultant, he will also assist the club to modernize the entire football structure in reserve, scouting, training, medical, signing, appoint manager, culture, discipline and etc.
We should support Rangnick in his short time as interim and trust the process of modernizing of the club. It's not easy but we will get there.

Instead of obsessing over clean sheets he should be working with the forward players to improve in the final third of the pitch. Because if we didn't score that lucky stoppage time winner it would be because of the bad decisions in the final third and too many players shooting and wanting the glory headlines.. Greenwood is still as greedy and selfish as the first day Rangnick joined. So what are they doing in training or video analysts or with this fancy new mental coach?! Where's the improvement from Rangnick there?!
