Ralf Rangnick | ex-interim manager | does anyone rate him?

Surely we've sounded out the new manager for the summer now? And surely Ralf is sticking around in some sort of advisory role? Is there any reason Ralf can't send an email with some players names to the new manager with the subject "Fancy any of these?" and get someone in before the window closes?

That would make too much sense for the Glazers. We will find a way to drag it all out and leave the squad dangerously short in some departments and way over stacked in others. It’s just an organisational failure that keeps coming up. Too many people making the decisions and it leads to total uncertainty.

Secretly send a journo to interview the incoming manager and make the questions all a feck, marry, kill list.

He really is a footballing brain. Yes, he came in with some preconceived way he wanted to play and maybe it would work in other leagues. But, he's not so egotistical and has recognized that the 4-2-2-2 in this league and this player set at least is not going to have the desired control he wants. Even the mistake against Villa he learned quickly and made good subs today as well. I was actually thinking Bruno to come off because he had become invisible in the second half but, we had such good control, that having him drop deep and be able to pick passes while bringing on Cavani and Martial was really smart, not because of the goal but, you could see the impact both were having.

So I think this is correct

Ralf's first 10 games: 6 Wins, 3 Draws, 1 Defeat. 14 goals scored, 6 conceded
Ole's last 10 games: 3 Wins, 2 Draws, 5 Defeats. 14 goals scored, 22 conceded

It sounds correct.

Epitome of how a rebuild should be. Fix the defense first. I'm sure we'll look better going forward with time.

So much talk about players not buying Ralf's methods but the more I see this team and players it looks like they are actually responding to him

If this goes like this for few more weeks he can make them a lot better and we can expect more controlled games.

One thing i like about Ralf is, he is a quick learner, He knew he messed up our result against villa by not making subs when we were at 2-0 up so he changed that a bit over last 2 games and got the results (today its offensive subs)

I iike him oveall. On top of that he comes across a very genuine person rather being a cocky. When he had time to have a chat with Lindelof for more than 30 mins because of his personal situation (home breakin) it explains Ralf is a person you can chat with......I believe in given time these players can respect him more

He needs to get that DM/CM. With this intensity, there's no way you can expect McFred to play every single game for the rest of season.

I'd like to see Sancho or Martial start on the wings. I think we played well today but failed to create good chances and that's partly because our wingers at the start are shit at link up play

Very good today. Dominated from start to finish and kept their chances to a minimum.

I thought that was good today. West Ham are a good side but we didn't allow them to breathe and they never got a foothold in the game. We were far too easy to play against under Ole, and it gave teams a lift. Slow suffocation and intense pressure leads to mistakes and heads going down

Closest we've had to a compete performance under Ralf, so glad we got the goal we deserved and hopefully it reinforces some confidence in the new coaching team

Also great to see him throw on as many attackers as he could late on - very fergie-esque
Love it

Ralf showed some real emotion when we scored, he took a gamble and It paid off.

Better team performance today.

Outside of City, Scousers, Chelsea a run of games like Villa away, Brentford away and West Ham at home is a fairly tricky set of fixtures and we have seen our performances notably improve during it. Hopefully a sign Ralf is getting his message across and he is understanding the league better.

Sublime!

The team seemed much better coached today. Great structure, pressure and desire. Loved seeing how the players chased back and worked hard overall. I won’t blame Ralfy for the team creating too few chances against a well-organized West Ham team.

Said it earlier and will say it again, I haven't been more certain of a manager since Fergie. LVG had me fooled for a bit but this one is so clear to the eye test that I find it unbelievable that people are complaining.

I have a bit of time this weekend (quarantining thanks to fecking COVID), so I'll dig up some data. I am almost 100% certain that stats like PPDA, Goal Kicks forced, Opposition attacks from build ups etc. would all be significantly better than any time in the past 4-5 years.

The attack isn't quite clicking but it'll come.

Ralf really needs to put to an end some players selfishness and we all know who they are.

Edi came on in the last 8 minutes and in non-egotistical action just crossed the ball for the win.

There's some players in this squad that put themselves on top and not the team.

I’m not sure they’re incorrigibly selfish.

Maybe it’s the way Ole encouraged them to play. Ingrained habits die hard; it might take some time to eradicate.

Greenwood and Ronaldo ?

Today was certainly one of his most convincing matches so far. I think he'll be disappointed with the creativity and interlink within the final third but pleased with the way we pushed up and were aggressive enough that West Ham didn't get much of anything going. It was coming back off Antonio pretty easily who is usually an outlet.

We are getting there

you can see the improvements from the last 3 games

vs villa we ran out of steam and they took their chances. a good 60 minutes

vs Brentford we were good but very vulnerable on the break.

today we were better throughout. Stopped their chances early, but we were lacking attacking flow

The way I think of it is like when you take medication for something and get shitty side effects initially, that's all the leaks and player's looking upset and inconsistent performances. You keep taking the medicine though and it settles down and gets better.

Missed the game.
Delighted for Rashford he scored and the lads looked pleased for him also.
Did we deserve the win or would a draw have been a fair result?

Could have gone both ways, but I think we slightly edged it overall. Ralfy gambled putting on Cavani and pushing Bruno back to the midfield and it paid off.

More importantly we looked much better organized and motivated throughout the game.

Didn't watch today but from what i'm hearing we had good control and less mistakes which is good. He's caught some flak in the last few weeks but when a team was as under coached as it was previously it was always gonna take a bit of time to implement an identity which i think we are now starting to see.

Not seeing much progress. We are not really dominating games against weaker sides.

Soon CL start and that is the big test.

Defended better today, but I think it was also West Ham being poor up front.

Standards are low, but with our squad we should get top 4.

West Ham did nothing all game. Granted we didn't create a lot of chances but we nullified them completely. So, yes, I'd say we deserved to win.

We looked like a team for the first time in an incredibly long time, were in control and deserved to win the game. Next step as Ralph says is to be better in the final third.

It's clearly not the kind of football Ralf wants to play. At first he mentioned a few sideways passes as negatives, pointed out a goal off a VBD sideways pass. Now he's happy to let the team sit back. I think he held onto the 4222 so long because he saw it as the only way we could play heavy metal football. This looks like a temporary measure until he can get the right players in.

It's now a whole month to go until we play Atletico so if there's a genuine progress that's happening atm then we should be ready for that 1st leg in Madrid. Time will tell.

I'm pleased with Ralf, post sir Alex, LVG(even though the football was super boring) and him are the managers I can understand what they are trying to do.

(1)We play with more organisation and structure.
(2) Players are improving under him (Especially Dalot and MCT).
(3) He is not dogmatic. He has ditched his favourite 4222.
(4) He is learning from his mistakes (the draw against vila, our vulnerability on the counter against Brentford)
(5) He is playing players based on merit not on reputation or price tag (some may argue that CR7 is an exception).
(6) He has made the prima donnas know that they are not indispensable(against west Ham today every body was working hard.)

The club should help him and get a DM this January , it could be the difference between finishing fourth and Fifth/Sixth.
