Ralf Rangnick | ex-interim manager | does anyone rate him?

Feck off. I thought we learnt our lesson . Looks like we haven't. We deserve everything we are getting now.
Yep all worst fears confirmed. Its all PR spin. Ed is still a pr*ck determined to run the club his way, and hence into the ground. Richard Arnold cut from same cloth ie zero football knowledge. Jokes on us guys

If any of this is true the club is truly lost.

This situation the board wants rectified is entirely of their own fecking making. No other club in football would have handed out some of those contracts. Punishing Ralf for their own negligence and not allowing him to build his own project is just insane.

I always worried about the intentionally vague term for his role as a "consultant" - I have a bad feeling their just gonna move on to the next guy and Ralf's new role will basically be sending an email every few months that nobody reads.

Anyone heard about Mitten reporting that Ralf has said that he has been told to focus on results rather than changing style etc?

No worries. To be clear, you think subbing a 36 year old, just back from injury in 70th minute, defending a 2 goal lead, justifies toys out of pram behaviour?

Nope. I agreed with RR on this. But wanting him to leave just because of throwing fit on getting subbed?? Then calling "fanboys", man.. what else you can say than saying thanks.

CLub is heading down pan. Rather than whinging on here and debates with Ole and Ronnie fan boys why dont we all focus our ire on the parasites and their f**ing useless henchmen that are taking us compeltely down the pan. Ralf consultant role just more spin. Dont blame Ralf if results arent great, blame the board and Woodward. Match going fans need to call these people out

Ronaldo asking younger player to get subbed? He can sulk all he want for his substitution but should not be asking for other players to get substituted in his place
Wasn't one of the gripes that RVN had was he didn't want to wait around for the likes of Ronaldo to improve more. May Ronaldo needs to remember what it was like when he was young.

Made a comment a couple of weeks back that Ralf's appointment just seemed like window dressing from the club. Be annoyed if that was the case.

Broken and rotten from top to bottom.

I forgive you my manager.

Good answer.

Also if the club are not going to sign anyone he wants and are scared of backing him to implement his style then I have absolutely no hope. We're years and years away.

The only one throwing toys out of their pram is you. It's been over 48 hours and you are still moaning about him looking disappointed coming off. Shame it's been so long since we've had winners at the club that you are not used to it.

The press are still asking about it so it's more than just him moaning about. Ralf is still answering questions and people are still discussing it, might have just been simpler if Ronaldo just didn't throw a hissy fit.

Ralf himself said it's no big deal and totally normal. You are right in that the press is making a fuss out of it and trying to create headlines, and then there are people like him that seem to feed off the drama.

I think RR's directness and unapologetic honesty does not bode well with the media's sensationalism. We'll see a lot of shit coming from the usual outlets, but unlike Ole, RR doesn't like to hide, so it will be fun to follow.

All in all, he has my undying support.

Not exactly good for team spirit coming out with this.

Good to know that we've got another 18 month of Ronaldo thinking he's above getting subbed.

Nah I reckon he'll leave once we're out of the top 4 officially.

Pretty much this.

Unless he is willing to go to mls, middle east etc he will be yet another player we are stuck with because his salary is too high

Yeah I started to really like the man too.

He's been able to be brutally honest and still very smart at the same time. Brave, ruthless but very politically savvy. It'll be really fun his time here.

I forgive you my manager.

That's the problem right there. Once again, he's telling the media about a private conversation he had with a player, including quoting or paraphrasing what he claims the player said. Why is he telling the media? If I was Ronaldo, I'd surely consider this none of their business, if it even really is, verbatim, what Ronaldo said. It also pins the "younger players" against Ronaldo, when they hear it.
Rangnick just has no sense of boundaries. He's got a few more months to be pissing off every single player one by one with this kind of approach.

Agree with much of this. He is way too matter-of-fact.

In terms of undying support, no…. Look, we brought him in as an interim to get us in the CL spots and set us up for a top manager to walk in and execute the vision. If he doesn’t achieve top 4, he will have been a massive failure. The way we are playing right now is downright embarrassing. The 2nd half v Brentford was encouraging, but all of the innovations he was hired to implement are nowhere to be seen. The so-called 4-2-2-2 has looked awful. The high press looks so bad, so half-hearted, so easy for opponents to solve, it’s no wonder he shit canned it.

‘There are many in the Caf who are saying that it is the player’s fault. It may be, but that doesn’t mean the Ralf isn’t responsible for our poor performances. In fact, we can’t completely turn over the squad and the next permanent manager will need to work with the same players. So creating a system and environment where these players can perform to the expected level is the bare minimum for Ralf. As far as I can see, despite a fairly easy schedule since he arrived, Ralf has been unable to deliver.

‘If he gets us out of this mess, I’ll be the first to say I was wrong, and be delighted while doing it! But I just don’t see it and I’m quite worried we’ll finish out of the CL spots. That is absolutely unacceptable with this squad.

If I was Ronaldo, I'd surely consider this none of their business

First of all, you're not Ronaldo.
Second, if he does consider it none of the media's business (which is fair to say, but not actually expect from the media to accept), he shouldn't have stormed off like that for a substitution late in the game, when we were 2-0 up.

The thing about Ralf is that he seems to enjoy taking the opportunity to explain everything in his mind like a professor. He doesn't consider the headlines it could generate the next day. And already we've seen the fan accounts highlighting the part where he says no player is bigger than the club, when it was just the beginning of a long sentence in a long paragraph. In some ways he's like a more stabler version of LVG.

I realize that very distinctly
That doesn't negate my point though, probably rather enforces it. If I compare the kind of personalities that I am, and from all one can gather that Ronaldo is, bets are he will take this much more badly than I would, if I...

He’s winning me over. We’ve had about 100 minutes of not looking like a pub team in the last 2 games - both games we’d have lost 2 months ago - so things are looking up. Also very much liking the response to Ronaldo.

Tbf it's Ronaldo who was at fault first. His behaviour last match was direspectful toward Ralf. You shouldn't make a scene and question your manager's decision in public. Have you ever seen a manager came to babysit a player in such situation? In the entire history of football? Ralf had fo. How did he feel when he had to do that? To sit down almost begging him to stop that crap? Who had no sense of boundary here first?

In fact so far only Martial and Ronaldo had this kind of treatment from Ralf, which imo both are totally justified.

And what if he pisses off both so they'll leave? Well thanks God.

Actually Bruno did it as well, the cameras just didn't focus on him as much.

Spot on. Rangnick has shown that he will not accept immature or unprofessional behaviour. If a player wants to behave like a primaddona, there are going to be consequences. If either pouts and asks to leave as a result, then good riddance.

I think many would agree that, although its not very good, we make some pressing that lacked in Oles era. One good DM would contribute a lot. We are not that vulnerable as we were previously.

Wow he literally said it's because they're better than you Ronaldo

Man is freaking tough and bold I must say. And smart af as well. He came to babysit the crying toddler so the press can't make a fuss out of that. The next day he fecking tell everyone and especially Ronaldo "you got subbed because the younger players are better than you"

It's nice to see a manager who doesn't care one iota about indulging the childish behaviour of primadonnas. Telling the world how he pointed out to Ronaldo that he was substituted for better players is pretty funny

Surely.

I started to really like this man tbh

Being nice is nice. Being too nice is Ole. We all know how that ended. As a manager you simply can't let your players disrespect you and think they can get away with that.

Yep that does sound like our club.
Sure does. Need to stop holding players hostage when there are chances to let them leave, even if for less than their valuation or free. We end up keeping them and pay them ridiculous wages to sit on the bench when they could have been moved on. Stop giving them ridiculous wages. If they're only here for money, get out.
Now we have a player the manager thinks will improve us but the owners don't want to spend anymore money because the last 2-3 managers kept/bought shit players. Will they allow Poch or Ten Hag rebuild the squad or will they force them to use what we have? We obviously don't need Lingard, Martial, Mata, or even Donny. Matic gets games every 2-3 weeks. Could do without him for someone younger, more suited to the PL pace. Would give better rotation options as well. Instead we see McFred every week. Very good chance not improving the squad and performances will see us miss out on CL next season which puts a dent in the revenue stream. Whomever the next manager is, they will have their work cut out for them.

Same way Ronaldo did?
Not sure if its exactly the same way but he certainly looked pissed coming off. RR himself acknowledged it, and said emotions are just part of the game. Fair enough if you dont like anything that looks remotely insubordinate. I just dont think any of these are a big deal.

Ofcourse not. But expect more deflecting :D

Ofcourse. If a player thinks he's bigger than the club and can openly disrespect the manager, then there's a problem. So I'm glad he's showing Ronaldo who's in charge. Be professional or sit on the bench.

By putting his hand on his leg and having a nice chat about it?

You got subbed. You got angry. You kicks a bottle, throws something then sit down to your place, a word or two and stfo. It's emotions. No manager in the world would have a big problem with that.

You got subbed. You got angry. You kicks a bottle, throws something then sit down not to your place so you can look miserable. You keep mumbling and moaning and you know half the football world is watching. You keep doing that until your manager has to come and beg you to stop. Because the manager knows if he doesn't the press will make a big fecking fuss out of this. And both know half the football world is still watching. Any manager in the world would have a big problem with that.
