Ralf Rangnick | ex-interim manager | does anyone rate him?

Will be interesting to see how we look after the international break. It will only be Fred and Cavani who are out of the team.

The rest of the squad will have a week and a half after this weekend's game to prepare for the Boro game.

Telles got called up as well.

I think Rangnick has done alright, or at the very least I'm seeing a bit of progress. Many seem to have forgot how bad we were in the weeks before Ole was sacked.

I'm loving him standing up to Ronaldo and telling the likes of Pogba, Lingard and Martial they can leave - definitely not star struck! :)

His camp can shove it.

Players have too much power at our club, it's ridiculous how early we announced signing Sancho and he missed almost the entire preseason because he went on holidays.
Oh man up. Player camps/entourages/agents need to feck off and wind their necks in.

Inevitable that something like this would happen. If Rangnick is still here next season I'd be surprised.

I don't actually think these journalists have a clue. It seems like pure speculation.

One journalist claims that he has put together a presentation stating certain players are not good enough, the other claims that they dont trust Rangnick.

Its weird because the facts we do know are.

We have a new CEO - so he will want to go down a diff road to Ed to show he is trying something different
We have Murthough - He was impressed with what Rangnick done, so he kind of trusts him?
Fletcher - Technical director working alongside Ralf, so he knows the players too

So when a presentation is laid, Fletcher would be in there too.

Now, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see what is working in the PL at the moment. City, Liverpool, Chelsea all try and press.

Finally, I am sure the club has scouts, they would have been told to scout Haidara and they would have reported back to see if he can fit different styles. However, to me it seems the scouts we have don't actually know much anyway.

Yeah it seems a bit of guesswork. I would be surprised if Murtough championed Rangnick and then decides not to bother with him all of a sudden. John Murtough if I'm not mistaken will have most decision making from Feb 1st as Arnold will hand over the control, and he's reportedly a big fan of Rangnick. It doesn't make sense.

Agreed, its quite clear from even the summer window, to get someone in, we had to get someone out the door. I don't think its anymore than that.

Also, its not about style, geggen pressing or not, if Ralf is here temporarily, why would the club spend £30-40m on a player now? Reducing the next managers budget?

Finally, no one can tell me that Haidara can only play pressing football. The two managers we have linked to us Ten Hag and Poch are both managers that like to press.

It would be concerning if the board are suddenly thinking "woah, what if the manager we like doesn't like to press"

God knows who they would be considering in that shortlist in that case!

THis whole short term bullsh*t is the problem. THe next manager should be selected precisely because he fits with the philosophy the club is building, not someone who will deliver an entirely different approach and want to change half the squad. If Ralf was DoF or if the consultant role is more than the PR rubbish I fear it to be, then the board would absolutely be backing him now, especially if we are serious about top 4. THey would also be ruthless in helping him clear the deadwood. But the failure to do any of these things to be delivered just shows that nothing has really changed, Woodward and his idiot muppets are still in charge and there is little hope.

I agree but we are insinuating that the journalist is likely BS.

Whats funny is that we have a team that doesn't suit any style of football that a top team should be playing so quite a few of these players need replacing anyway. There are also a hell of a lot of players out there who are just good. They don't need to be played in a specific niche system, they can adapt because they are used to being coached and doing what they are asked.

Also, who cares if we waste £50m if it increases our chances of CL next season. That is worth far more than £50m to the club.

Rangnick's here to lay the groundwork for the next manager, who will obviously use similar tactics to him. What the hell is going on?

We will never win anything with this board. They're all hopeless.
That's why I think its bollocks. Also the two front runners for the job both have their teams press.

I can't post media yet but there's a Chris Williams (freelance journalist followed by Romano among others) replying to the tweets saying:

" I know you’re just translating this and it’s not your exclusive, so before anyone shoots you - I’ve got it on good authority that this is far fetched to say the least. "

I'm choosing to believe him (not based on anything just that it's Friday and I don't want to be depressed thinking what a mess the club is)!

I'm quite happy with Ralf so far. We might not win anything, but the man is addressing the problems.

Yeah i hope so. Not just that all the top teams around implement the same pressing tactics, so it's alarming if they're not convinced.

Its quite obvious to anyone who cares to do their homework that our teams current malaise is more to do with the personnel then RR coaching. And some of the lazy comparisons between RR and Ole, who himself admitted to not spending much time on the training field coaching the team, is just ridiculous.

I am fully behind Rangnick and if the players do not want to listen to his tactics then they should be shown the door; we spend far too long rewarding mediocrity.

Who wouldn't want to build on high pressing tactics ? Man, this is sheer incompetence.

Be it Poch or ETH or Potter, they all do high pressing. How can these people not get it.

Ronaldo asking younger player to get subbed? He can sulk all he want for his substitution but should not be asking for other players to get substituted in his place
That's why I want him out of here. He believes he is above the club and management. How can you ask for another teammate to be substituted in your place? Thats very disrespectful and Im sure not many of our players like him at all.

Its better this way because when summer comes Im sure he will be pushing to leave.

Well, he's the oldest player. So every other is younger than him.

The Ronnie fan boys were saying the other day what a role model he is. For me he's a prima donna and should leave at the end of the season, we can then focus on building a team for the future
