Is it just me or does he seem a bit...thick? What a mess he's gotten himself into.
He's on course to escape a sinking ship. How's it a mess? A bigger mess would be tying himself down on a four year deal, and having all of the expectation on his shoulders as Liverpool continue to go nowhere and win nothing.

He does really seem like a Wenger type of player as others have mentioned, you'd think City would be very interested as well.
I guess it depends if he does want a move back to London, I cant see Liverpool selling him this summer though unless this escalates even further, they made Suarez stay initially the first time around when he was making similar noise, you could imagine them playing hardball with Sterling this summer equally.

Arsenal is a good move for him, can continue to develop at a higher level, returns to his home city and if he does reach his potential he knows it wouldn't be too difficult to leave Arsenal for a club competing for the Premier League or Champions league.

I'm getting a few digs in there at once, good stuff.

Agree, it would be crazy to sign that deal, just as it would have been strange for De Gea to sign a new deal with us after the Moyes Catastrophe.

But I mean, the BBC interview, the apparent leaks and the video clips?

Arsenal already have Ox though. It'd mean giving up on him if they sign Sterling. Plus Sanchez and Ozil take up an attacking spot each.

I wouldn't mind us getting Ox though. I think he's a superb talent. A bit of a crock though.

A bit? He's always injured

Sterling likely isn't the only one leaking things; FSG have previous in this area, apparently.

Wage demands/Wages offered being made public you would think could easily be down to them, Sterling seems poorly advised but couldn't possibly be that dumb surely.

Just my opinion, but if Chamberlain can avoid injury, I think he'd be a far better player than Sterling. Technically, I think he's miles ahead.

If he goes to arsenal and continued developing, him and Sanchez could be a devastating wide attacking pair for them. Hope he goes abroad but that looks likely. Sadly, it seems one of our rivals will be strengthened.

I think Sterling is a good player, but not worth anywhere near all the fuss that is made over him by Liverpool fans and the media in general.

I mean, there are literally hundreds of "good" players, that nobody ever mentions, why this lad gets so much attention I dont quite know.

Anyone prepared to spend serious (£20 million+) money on him needs their head examining at the moment, as he has done nothing to warrant it yet.

This what some say about Januzaj.

Really? Miles? I wouldn't say there's much in it. Sterling's got more of those deft touches and flicks in his locker though, I think. Whereas Chamberlain gets a better/more solid connection on the ball more consistently.

Wenger won't buy him. He already has Walcott, Ox, Sanchez and Ozil. He'll also be too expensive I think for Arsenal, if he goes to an English club it will be £50m imo and that would presumably be over half of Wengers budget.
I think he's City bound. FFP being relaxed = splurge-time for City.......

He could be devestating with Aguero also. But then again he might get a huge contract and decide to start phoning it in.

I'd rather us sign Sturridge, even if he has more injuries than Evel Knieval.

Liverpool were clearly the ones leaking every step of the contract talks to the press, to turn the fans against Sterling. It was disgusting, and no wonder he's leaving after that treatment.

He wants out of a team with a deluded manager that is going nowhere. Whats wrong with that? Ibe will be the next one making noise after he makes his mark. He's already stalling on a contract as we speak but this pretty normal I guess.

I would agree with that as well.
In Januzaj case I would say its even more so, he makes some incredibly dim decisions when he is playing sometimes.

I mean, Sterling, for all his lack of end product, will win this debate if we go by stats -- quite comfortably. But, I've seen Chamberlain play against big sides, in big games, and he's been immensely impressive. Sterling has never really impressed me in the same way. He's a great talent, I wouldn't deny that for a second, and still young -- and in fact, due to the Ox's injury problems, will more than likely have the better career. But if I had to watch one playing at their best, it would be Chamberlain. Just from a technical point of few. His close control is better imo, he can dribble his way out of areas you wouldn't expect him to. It's a personal choice, and really just a hunch, but I do think Chamberlain is naturally the more talented of the two. So miles may be stretching it, but yeah, I think Chamberlain has the potential to be better.

I agree, Sterling is more technically adept than Ox who is more a knock the ball forward and run type player. There's not much between them.

The criticism he is receiving is completely unjustified. He would be more foolish to sign a long term contract at a club that cannot and will not be able to compete for the biggest honours in the current financial climate, particularly when United are only a solid summer transfer window away from returning to the status quo.

Good on him.

So many ex-players are weighing in telling him what to do. It's ridiculous, he's entitled to want to leave.

I agree with that....same goes for Wilshire, if both weren't so injury plagued Arsenal might actually win something again someday.

The thought of him playing next to Silva and Agüero does indeed sound a bit annoying...

Surely there must be a way to do that without bringing on all of this abuse and press coverage + end up leaving Liverpool as their the new hate object nr 1.
Who was the last Liverpool 'main man' to leave without a shit storm at some point?

He clearly is. Is ability in tight spaces and quality on the ball not technical ability? His shooting technique needs work, mind you,

His striking of the ball in general is poor. How can you be an excellent technician and be poor at striking a football.

Suarez.

Shitstorms during his time there, yes, but most fans saw that he was way too good for them + they got a huge fee. Always sad to see good players leave, but most Liverpool fans I know talk fondly of him now.

Sterling had 9G + 9A in 24 as a 19 year old and this year has 7G+7A in 34 as a 20 year old. Those are really impressive seasons, even if he did play as a 9 earlier in the year for Liverpool (he also played games at wing back).

No reason to think he can't consistently be a 15G+15A guy in 2 or 3 years as he starts to hit his prime as an attacker and improves his shooting and crossing a bit. There's not a team in England he wouldn't walk into with that kind of production.

I think he's pretty clearly the English player with the highest value. I expect him to stay one more year after he comes close to leaving in the summer and then a bidding war to get Liverpool decent value for him even with only a year left on the deal.

He wasn't thought of fondly around that time, from what I remember.
Sterling's hardly done more than that. Ex-players and media are blowing it up and trying to shame/corner the guy. It's easier to bully/criticize a young English kid than Suarez.

Raheem Sterling has "not achieved anything" and should stay at Liverpool, says former Reds winger John Barnes.

Doesnt Barnes understand that its because he has played for Liverpool he has won nothing.

The Guardian claims Manchester City is ON ALERT. This phrase always makes me laugh when I see it in relation to transfers. I picture the staff running around the offices, papers flying everywhere, red lights flashing, klaxons sounding.....

I can't see a way for him to leave Liverpool and move to what they would consider to be a "rival" club without the press wringing it out for all its worth. It's a big story.

Likewise I can't see the fans accepting it with good grace either. I kind of see their point. Even though he wasn't a product of their youth system, they did give him a chance and they're probably expecting to see a bit of loyalty, even if that is a bit optimistic.

Gaz hitting the nail again. Carragher can't disagree so went on a high frequency sound waves.

Who honestly got some proper advice for a kiddo there... Balo ? Skrtel ? If was I him would try to talk with Henderson but he kinda look like he has no clue while Sturridge spends more time outside the game these days.

Sterling needs motivation. If he was in United there would be already Valdes with RVP giving him speeches from real experience. The only guy who can do that in LFC is fecking off to MLS and leaving club not feeling complete at all.

Pool needs twice more quality players than United it seems. Absolutely mad transfer window ahead.

Liverpool will cash in if he doesn't sign a new deal imminently. They need players and he could generate a sizeable sum to re-invest. They did it with Suarez and they'll do it with him, unless they can get him to sign.
