Bottom line is Rafael has the ability to tell his agent not to do this, or to show displeasure by firing him etc

I would imagine that Rafael is weighing up his options..

Replacing him with Seamus Coleman worries me more.

Coleman's on par with Rafael so footballing wise it wouldn't worry me. But the whole thing would be stupid as we'd lose money and a fan favourite would be shafted.

He better not leave (Rafael) As well as being amazing with potential to be even better, I (like him) play right back and my actual name has Rafael in it.

I wish these agents would shut the feck up. Nothing but shit stirrers along with the pricks who write it up.

Yeah, most of it is BS. If you believe what the papers say we're going to lose our back four in summer

Don't shit your pants just yet lads, he might be upping contracts for them or trying to force us to let Fabio stay or something.

Load of rubbish (hopefully). Easily one of our best players these days

I'd cry if Rafael left this summer. Also, if he leaves just because he wants to stay in the same country as Fabio, who left because we played Buttner instead of him, I'd be suicidal for years, possibly forever.

Why is everyone assuming Moyes wants to sell him? Sounds like his agent's the one pressing for a move.

I like Rafael, but his injury record is a joke. Can't go on with Smalling or whoever deputising half the time. We better be looking at new right backs, not just left backs.

If we let Rafael go, there will be blood. I think he's one of our best and one of the most dedicated player and always gives his all every match. Selling him would be a disgrace.

Probably on par with him at the moment, but Rafael is just playing like normal and Coleman is the best he's ever been. Rafael has so much more potential IMO. It wouldn't only make us worse long term, the fans would be pissed and it'd be a waste of money as you say.

There is his brother, but we all know that is too obvious. Right back is sorted for the next decade as far as I'm concerned. Failing Fabio, we work on Valencia's defensive game, as his days as first choice winger at United should soon be over.

This must possibly the first time I agree with 100% of your post.

I dunno, we haven't seen the best of Coleman yet either. This is his proper break through season, don't forget. He can follow the same trajectory as Rafael, no problem.

Agents are perennial bullshitters. You're all getting far too tetchy based on his comments.

By all accounts Rafael loves this club, and we love him.

His agent and himself will get the contract they are after.

It's amazing how many pitchforks come out for Moyes when this story is coming from his agent, not Moyes or the club forcing him out. then you have some that seem to actually like the idea because they want Coleman. Weird stuff.

Yep. The agent mentioned that his contract expires in 2016. Clearly just looking for a better contract for him. Nothing more to it.

Taking it with a pinch of salt but safe to say I'll be furious/gutted if Rafa were to leave. Definitely one of my favourite United players currently.

Coleman's on par with Rafael so footballing wise

Think you're looking through green tinted specs.

Coleman would do well here but Rafael is a level above him. He's potentially one of the best in the world.

Replacing Rafa with Coleman would make no sense whatsoever, unless he forces a move.

And Rafael is getting leered at through rose tinted specs. Potentially one of the best in the world? Nah. He's potentially the best in the league, as is Coleman. Look at where the likes of Cole, Evra, Lahm and Alves where at Rafael's age, they went on the be the best in the world. Look at Alaba at Bayern, he's two years younger than Rafael and already a superior full-back.

I love Rafa and would hate to see him leave, but he's not one of the indespensible players in our squad like Rooney, DDG, Januzaj, Carrick etc.

Fact is, half the time we're playing without him anyway because he's injured. If there's any truth at all to this story then it might be because Moyes is willing to pick someone of similar quality (Coleman) who can actually play every week.

Rafael was the first choice RB for United at 22. Very good going by any standards while Coleman was at Blackpool at 22. What a very well made point.

I know we don't seem to making the best of decisions right now but the club isn't that stupid to let Rafael leave when he's one of our most important players. Besides the boy seems to love it here going by his recent quotes and instagram pics.

Poor post. Evra wasn't anywhere near Rafael's level at 23. Rafa has been first choice right back at Manchester United from the age of 22 and silenced some of the best attackers in the game. He's a better defender than Alves. Your comparisons are all rather futile. The reality remains that there isn't a 23 year old right back on the planet with Rafa's CV at this moment in time. He's excellent, and comfortably better than Coleman.

No he's not.

Calciomercato? Is that really the first place an agent would go to? In Italy?

So many of these 'sources' are made up bullsh*t that should be sued back into the gutter they crawled out of.

Some United fans are that hateful towards Moyes....
I think it's people blaming moyes for the position we're in and so making the players want to leave. It's not exactly unthinkable to suggest that if we had a manager who had us challenging for the title this season then there wouldn't be rumours of all these players wanting out. I'm not saying I blame him for this fwiw, but that's probably the view others have on the situation.

It more as something to do with the club why players may be considering leaving or rather contract improvements which will not be met.
