It's a done deal and a great price too... :D

You might have missed it Ahmed, what with your expert standing an all, but he hasn't played in the CL yet... ;)

They will also want success in the future and most realise that Man Utd is not the place to go... ageing team, manager due to jack it in or get the boot within the next two years... I'd head to LFC or Arse.

Agreed. Surely the world's richest club/the one with the most relevant trophies in England over the past decade are worth passing over in favour of clubs that win the odd trophy here and there, and never seem to do well in Europe. <img src="graemlins/houllier.gif" border="0" alt="[Houllier]" />

On what basis? I would agree that most of South America knows and respects Real Madrid more than Manchester United (or Liverpool for that matter) but actively supporting them?

<strong> but most of south america has no money to spend on merchandise.</strong><hr></blockquote>

Not necessarily, it's just that I can get a fake Nike kit, made of the same material, same looks, with the same logos, nike swoosh and all, and MY name on it for three quid and there's feck all any club in the world or Nike itself can do about it.

Not a bad market, just fecked up patent enforcement. It is estimated Flamengo miss out on ~40m a year in royalties for all their black market 3 quid shirts that are sold!

He blew out his knee and has been out since early Sep. Should be back in a couple of weeks.

Must say I strongly doubt that they would have agreed on the price. A buy out clause perhaps, where you have the possibility to match the highest offer that comes in.

 , merely pointing out that it makes no sense for ajax to tie their most promising player to a price when they know he could be worth a couple of millions more in a year. RVDV price is only inreasing right now.

they got back an ajax club legend on a free who's still got 3 or 4 seasons in him in the dutch league. . .

How is that relevant to the discussion about VDV ? <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

i didn't say it was. i just pointed out that we gave them jari litmanen for nowt.

it may however, hypothetically, have had a bearing on another deal, i.e. we scratch their back, they agree to what we want.

<img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" /> , since they released their latest annual report and were a couple of millions on the (-) side perhaps.

You're working within business right? Do you honestly think they make deals that make no sense when they're dealing in millions of pounds? the stakes are perhaps a tad high for making bad decisions.

Jesus. Now we're really clutching... There are a couple of reasons why VDV would NEVER end up at LFC. He would cost too much. You would have to break your transfer record to get him. Why ? Because richer clubs (like us and Serie A types) would easily outbid you for his services. This is nothing more than a wet dream for a few on Koptalk and Tribalfootbal etc..

you're not getting this, are you?

perhaps they have agreed a deal which will help ease their financial crisis in the not-too-distant future while picking up an ex-player who is adored at the club and would offset some of the supporter anger at VDV's sale, for nothing?

You hit the nail on the head though.

come back to earth, raoul. the only clubs with more available funds than liverpool at the moment are you lot and probably real madrid. serie a is skint.

anyways, we'll see.

Yes Softie. I'm sure Ajax would relegate their best player to the bench for all euro comps so he could be healthy when you bid for him in Jan. ;)

Win the odd trophy? We've won more trophies than you over the last three years and look the more likely to be the dominant force in England again - Man Utd have been passed by not one but two teams, who knows maybe more by the end of the season. So if you are talking history then look no further than the most successful English club... Liverpool FC.

You've won one relevant trophy (the FA Cup). Surely you're not suggesting attempting to lure Van Der Vaart away from Ajax by boasting of winning the CS and Worthington Cup. As for the CL, you're fighting for your lives to get out of the first round. Great credentials...

I don't think you'll bid for him at all, at least not seriously.

Why would we have break our transfer record? Have you not seen the state that football is in? Serie A won't do deals unless they are player swaps. You won't get him because he wouldn't cost £30m + and because he's already on his way to us. :D

<img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" /> @ Koptalk and Tribalfootball. You're priceless mate...

Where did I say that? If he's not fit, he can't play simple as that... that means that come January IF he hasn't played he's eligible to play for us. Is that clear enough for you? <img src="graemlins/houllier.gif" border="0" alt="[Houllier]" />

Fighting to get through? We need is a win in Basle.

As for you 'relevant' comment... it's comments like that that give Man Utd fans a bad name and will mean that fans of other clubs will piss themselves when the best that Man Utd have to play for is the UEFA Cup... that day doesn't appear to be too far off either. <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

It is quite comical that you call me a deluded fool. I'm not the one talking about imaginary contracts as if they were true when they defy all logic.

Now you're not giving a deadline..if there is a contract that you know of, surely you must know when the tranfer should happen..or do you think they left it open if they really signed the contract you are talking about?

You obviously have a set date when it happens, i.e. the last day when the transfer falls through. Do you think you can leave it open. Yeah, come when you feel like it and pay us when you feel up to it? What the feck do you lot think this is? A cornershop selling chewing gum?

Softlad is bloody naive, that was established ages ago. Wouldn't have put you MOM in the same basket, until now, it is comical.

you mean a set date like the one manyoo signed van nistelrooy on? or the date a year later when he was fit?

these things are much more flexible and in-depth than you can imagine, ahmed. . .i'm afraid it's you that's the naive one in thinking it's so clear-cut.

<img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" /> , so what would the advanatge for Ajax be in this deal? and what would they gain by the flexibility in the deal?

It's clear that you're not the only bidder, you are unlikely to be able to pay the most money like we did with RvN. so what's is their incentive to agree on shite conditions like this?

And don't tell me Litmanen for free, could have been worth 2 m at most. We / Real enter the chase they could increase the price by more than that in a bidding situation.
