Had Jarvis in his pocket and made several crucial interceptions, as well as being bloody solid overall.

MotM.

He's shown everyone up in this match. If only the other players had half his determination.

Our best player this season. He's absolutely brilliant.

Great player to have and seems to be always fit nowadays. Great understanding with Van Persie down the right.

He was absolutely everywhere tonight. He made so many vital interceptions and clearances tonight and did well going forward and all this without a winger ahead of him. Quite easily our player of the season so far.

Excellent again although I hope he gets a game off against Reading, deserves a rest and with the way he's playing we don't want him to get injured.

You're never a shoe-in whilst competing with Dani Alves for a spot.

True.

However, Alves will be 31 by the time the 2014 World Cup comes around, whereas Rafael will be just entering his peak years. Alves also isn't the player he once was so if Rafael continues in this vein of form, I wouldn't bet against him securing the Brazilian no.2 jersey. He seems to have cut out the petulance and naivety in his defending too which is very reassuring.

Out of curiosity, what is the next level for Rafael?

He's surely a shoe-in at right-back for Brazil in their home World Cup, no?

Seem to be several other great prospects for Brazil in the position like Cicinho at Sevilla and I've heard good things about a player called Fagner at Wolfsburg. And his argument at the olympics wont help him. But Rafael is brilliant and if hes not starting for them they'll probably be worse off for it.

I knew if he stayed injury free and had a consistent run in the team he'd be a quality player... He's showing this every single game.

Rafael playing well week-in, week-out in a more superior league to those aforementioned two should see the vote swing his way. If he continues to build on this form, the sky is the limit for him.

Brilliant. Determination, speed, ability - he has it all. His speed of thought and ability to read the game is particularly pleasing to see. Does anyone have any stats that show how many interceptions he made today? He's maturing very well and he's still only 22!

He was virtually flawless tonight, absolutely brilliant and a delight to watch.

Plays with so much joy but wants to win so badly. What more could you want, except maybe an identical version of him that can play on the other side or be sent on loan for no real reason.

His best game for us.

Is he now the best in the league at RB? Sagna's consistent defensively, but that's clearly not enough to beat Rafael any more. He easily shackled one of the most elusive, determined wingers in the league, and still managed to be one of our best attacking players.

This thread needs Glaston desperately.

'Will never be half the player that Walker is'.

Yeah I'm still trying to figure out how he went from starting in the Champions League to being seemingly cast aside for Büttner.
